Well, the better team won in the end. I said that after the Denmark game so it's only fair to say it after the Italy game. The main regret is that it didn't seem like the lessons of Croatia semi-final 2018 had been learned - what a shame for England.

And the award for most deranged reaction to a football loss goes to:

Disclaimer, I am English/British - I think England did deserve to win as they were the better team from the second half onwards. I admit that the penalty was soft but how many times have England gone out of tournaments due to questionable refereeing decisions? You could also argue that Denmark got a soft free kick in the lead up to their goal (the Mount 'foul'). Finally, something seemed to go England's way in that sense.

Football fans can argue forever about refereeing decisions, but for me England were the better team in any case. Commiserations to Denmark. England will need to play much better to beat Italy.

Man I hope England aren't peaking here... I am a big believer in tournament pacing, so I wasn't too concerned about their indifferent performances up to this point as long as they got through. Just get ready for Denmark now!
