But either way there's little evidence suggesting that more police means less crime. It's money better spent on improving schools or public transportation or providing healthcare. Either way there's an increasing recognition that efforts to reform the police are largely ineffective and the actual way to reduce the incidences of police violence is to reduce the number of interactions between them and people. And the best way to do that is to improve people's material conditions. Between the right's inherent advantages of having the support of capital and being able to stoke people's fear of change political messaging is always going to be a losing game for the left.
