If a rent check falls in the office box, but no landlord is there to collect it, does it pay the rent?

I pay online so this doesn't apply to me but I'm curious about your thoughts -- if you drop the check in the mailbox on time (before the 5th technically), but management does not pick it up until the 6th, is it late?

Also it's not a "mailbox" I should clarify -- it's just a little lockbox on the leasing office door.

TopicHundreds Of Migrant Children Held In Border Detention For More Than 10 Days

Hundreds of migrant children and teens traveling without their parents have been held in jail-like detention centers at the border for 10 days, and longer, a DHS document obtained by NPR shows.
Under law, minors are only allowed to spend 72 hours in the detention centers, which are run by Customs and Border Protection.

But as of Thursday, more than 500 of the young migrants have spent more than 240 hours in the border facilities, according to the DHS documents.

Spokespersons for CBP and DHS did not immediately respond to a request for comment late on Thursday.

The Biden administration is struggling to address the rapidly growing number of unaccompanied minors arriving at the border. Biden administration officials acknowledged the challenge, but earlier on Thursday told reporters they are "dealing with the hand they were dealt" by the previous administration.

"The president inherited a mess, which is the result of four years and one thousand policies that had the intent of undermining and weakening the entire immigration system," a Biden administration official told reporters on a briefing call.

As of Thursday, 4,600 minors were being held at the CBP facilities a 30% increase in just one week, and a record for the detention centers.

Officials said the administration has opened two emergency sites this week to help house the children: one in Midland, Texas; the other at a convention center in Dallas. The two sites can house 2,000 children.

As of the end of February, about 29,000 unaccompanied migrant children have reached the border for the fiscal year beginning in October, the administration officials told reporters. A total of 9,562 are in the custody of Health and Human Services where they spend 34 days on average, officials said.

U.S. border patrol officials encountered about 120,000 people attempting to cross the southwest U.S. border in February, a 28% increase over the previous month, Biden administration officials said. Most were turned back, but some families have been allowed to enter the country while they await consideration of asylum claims.

"So four years cannot be undone in eight weeks, but we are making progress every single day," an official told reporters Thursday.

TopicSouth Dakota Passes Bill Restricting Transgender Girls From Sports Teams

https://www.npr.org/2021/03/08/975002036/south-dakota-passes-bill-restricting-transgender-girls-from-sports-teams

Monday, the South Dakota state Senate passed a bill that restricts transgender women athletes from competing on high school and college girls' and women's teams. The measure now goes to Republican Gov. Kristi Noem who has said she is excited to sign the bill into law.

"This is a very simple bill. It's a bill to protect women's sports," says Republican State Sen. Maggie Sutton, one of the primary sponsors of the legislation. "It's not against transgenders," Sutton says.

"To me, it looks an awful lot like bullying," says Democratic state Sen. Reynold Nesiba, who voted against the bill.
Janna Farley is the spokesperson for the ACLU of South Dakota. She says it is disheartening that legislators are spending their time on bills like this. "We don't need to have discrimination like this codified into law."

The legislation requires that schools and athletic associations collect written waivers documenting every student athlete's "reproductive biology." There are roughly 40,000 students who compete in sports in the state and critics say the bill violates Title 7 and Title 9 of the Civil Rights Act by discriminating based on sex.

Republican State Sen. Lee Schoenbeck voted against the bill saying it would create a mountain of new paperwork, adding that no Republican runs for office trying to grow government oversight.

South Dakota is one of more than 20 states this year that has considered legislative measures along these lines, including Mississippi where lawmakers have already passed an identical bill banning transgender women from participating in girls' and women's sports teams.

This is a toss up. The toss up is between a movie, and a parody movie made specifically to parody the former film

Talladega Nights
&
Ford V Ferrari

Talladega Nights I walked in on. It was so goddamn awesome. I can remember everything about it. I think it was like, some racecars were driving around and found like, onions on my steak. And like fought baby jesus? I legit got every fuckin clue but it's the only movie I've ever walked in

Ford v Ferrari, starring Matt Damon(cock) and Christian Bale, was certainly the funniest movie I've ever seen, unless you count Step Brothers as a movie. Jk Step Brothers is nowhere near as good I just wanted to get your blood pumping

But yeah, Ford V Ferrari didn't have a single laughless moment. I really can tell who the movie was for. I guess it was for everyone, who evidently was interested in it enough to ask me to see it w/them

Best movies, go
