I've just never been one for blind faith. I can't believe in something I don't know for a fact is there. Most of my family is very religious, but all going to church did was make me more skeptical. I'm supposed to worship some deity nobody's actually seen, or go to Hell? This "God" sounds like a petty, self-absorbed a****** imo. How does that encourage faith?

This post doesn't really hold up though. You're using the term faith too loosely and trying to over-simplify what you're actually discussing. "Everyday faith" is more a combination of hope and trust, with hope applying to things uncontrollable (one doesn't have faith in the desired outcome so much as one hopes for it because it is the desired outcome) and trust applying to circumstances where a degree of control can apply or be made to apply (one doesn't have faith that someone will make the desired decision so much as one trusts that they will see it as the right decision and will choose it as such).

People tend to turn to beliefs that reflect their own experiences so those who choose religion are often predisposed to it, albeit in some cases subconsciously and/or through outside influences they may not even realize. For example, you won't find a native in the Amazon rainforest who has never even been alerted to the existence of outisde cultures suddenly developing an interest in christianity or islam without having ever learned they exist. That sort of thing just does not happen. An atheist who converts to a literal fore and brimstone fundamentalist christian after a near death experience involving fire, equating to hell by the association of the experience, is influenced by said association because there was a predisposition there.

As for the last 2 paragraphs, well that is all hypergeneralization and over-simplification to an asinine degree, and it suggests that your perspective of the people you disagree with in this conversation comes exclusively from memes, and should get you wrotten off as simply low effort trolling... but your first paragraph has enough substance to rule that out, and suggests that your views on atheism and agnosticism as genuine, though misguided.

If you need faith to make it work, it doesn't really work. An appeal to faith is an admission of that.

It really is remarkable. I asked him how he learned all that he knew once. He laughed and said he wasn't born with a hammer or any other tools in his hands. He said he just took the time to figure out how stuff works. And he said it helped being poor for a lot of his life, because he couldn't afford to buy new or pay someone to repair whatever.

He always invested everything extra into more tools or equipment. He has a New Holland skid steer. Caterpillar bulldozer. Chainsaws, log splitter, stump grinder, etc. He even had a saw mill running for a few years. He took a lot of the trees from his tree business and made lumber out of them. Nothing fancy and all rough, but he built a hell of a shop out of some of it. It helps that he has a fair amount of land, too.

I know, CE could probably care less. But guy's like my dad are a dying breed. I've learned a ton from him. I wish I would have shown more interest growing up. Again, tradespeople are awesome. Nothing can run without them.

I think the fact that if you actually think about religion with any kind scepticism, the whole thing falls apart.

In layman's terms, what I'm asking here is: How do you intend to get the genetic material from the specific male horse you want to breed, by using a horse fleshlight or with your own hands? I mean if you were a horse breeder you'd know those terms.

That said, I still liked the game a lot. I think my biggest pet peeve is that your character is like walking tissue and goes down in a pretty realistic amount of time. Kind of not fun at times considering it's a giant open world with mass amounts of spawning enemies.

I can think of so many examples, myself included who was a nerdy dude, really poor sense of style, somewhat timid, etc. I started hanging out with this dude who dressed really well, he got me into style. I dropped maybe 250 bucks buying a new wardrobe. (clothes that were actually fitted and looked nice) I cleaned up my face and hair. Got some new shoes. Suddenly I started getting so much more attention from women, more looks, more respect in general. It was an amazing turnaround. I had a few female friends and even they were like damn you look good. It wasn't fake by any means, but it allowed my personality to come out and I actually became a social butterfly. This happened in second year of college and suddenly I started getting invited to all these parties and events.

It just takes that effort, some knowledge on style, and a few hundred bucks. But it can change your life.
