In terms of sheer pain, it's a close race between having shingles and when I had a cyst get super infected that needed immediate lancing and they couldn't numb the area and had to squeeze all the stuff out of it for 10 minutes.

The issue of games being different but grouped together will likely initially just be handled with the required console flairs but it's one we're talking about how we want to solve in the long term, possibly by unmerging games that are adequately different. We'd likely allow users to submit these suggestions to us like we currently allow with board flairs.

We can't "opt-out" of the redesign because as I stated before, we are making underlying code changes that don't work with the current code. At best, we can attempt to mostly emulate it, but it's definitely going to look a bit different in places because we're modernizing ancient code. Which is why once again we need to know exact things that don't look right or work right rather than just saying it's bad or you want to opt-out. There are definitely some useful posts in here, and I thank those who posted them.

Not to shoot myself in the foot here or anything, but I would just like to point out that since RV took over, the site has FEWER ads than it used to. Remember that giant block of ads at the bottom of every message board topic/message list and on the homepage? Gone, almost immediately after the takeover. We are already looking into making other ad changes to help make browsing easier.

No, the redesign will be rolled out to everyone. We are hoping to get things to where as many people as possible are happy with it first.

This is an understandable POV but you have to understand we're a very small team working with finite resources that have been looking at this stuff for months at this point, so things that might seem glaring or obvious to an outsider viewing it the first time won't be noticeable by us. This is especially true when hundreds of different devices and etc begin looking at it. We still have users who access the site on things like DS (not 3DS) browsers and other things we simply don't have the resources to test everything on.

If there were ever an upvote system, it would definitely not be a part of this rollout.

We are definitely reading all feedback given in the topic and will continue to do so. As has been alluded to by more than one response in this topic, we can't really action on "I don't like it" or "don't do it" type feedback. We had to make changes to the backend code to support the combining of releases into products and this change is something that simply has to be done. This new code requires some things to be rewritten, so 100% emulation of the current board state isn't really realistic (especially considering how old that code currently is). We're doing our best to make things as close as possible and plan to continue to do so via feedback that we get.

This is why specific feedback about a particular thing you dislike or that doesn't look right is much more helpful to us than just saying it all sucks and don't do it. It's going to happen, so try to help us fix particular issues.

Search missing in an oversight, will have it back up and running before the actual beta launch. I'll try to keep monitoring this topic but I have to step away for at least a while. Feel free to keep leaving feedback here or via the forms linked on the landing page of the first post.

Edit: Notifications aren't going to be working yet, either, since they are based on a different URL structure that isn't live yet. We have to be really careful with the beta because we don't want Google to accidentally crawl it so some of the features are gonna be a bit wonky like this.

I wasn't happy with the game cover media being taken away in the last beta that was had, I enjoy seeing the different cover art and age ratings in different countries.

You can still see the different box art. It's under the "See More Release Information..." link at the bottom of the Home section. They are still clickable to see larger images as well.

First thing I noticed on game boards. I can't link topics to friends without them being bombarded by the join beta screen. Is there a way to redirect topics between the beta and the current versions?

Can't really do that without breaking the site. They'll need to opt in to see beta links.

It's baffling to me that someone can get so upset over losing an account on an internet forum that they'd start to threaten someone with a wife and kids just doing a job like everyone else in the world. I don't plan to get a restraining order or anything, people have threatened all kinds of crazy stuff to me/my family/my kids/etc in the past and I assume will continue to do so in the future, but I just bank on people having enough common sense to realize that they are taking something not at all serious way too far and aren't going to actually do anything. So far, so good, I suppose.

I mean, the two topics directly below the new one, both posted mid-April, were announcing the open beta for it.

We got a very large amount of feedback from it, and fixed most of the common complaints from it. The sample size just wasn't enough, clearly, and the rollout came too suddenly. It was a good learning lesson, though, so hopefully future rollouts will be much smoother. Can't really say much more than that we messed up and hope to do better next time, really.

Not really. I made it up on the fly and it made me laugh and led to some really great times and friends I still have to this day. It was fun while it lasted, for sure, but it didn't really make sense to keep it as I moved on from those times in my life.

Pulled Zhongli this morning, still no Yanfei... :( Only missing 4 chars now, though, Yanfei, Hu Tao, Xiao, and Mona.

Howdy all, back again for what might be the final group of folks to beta test our upcoming redesign. The main purpose of the redesign is to combine all gamespaces for a game (different console releases, expansions, dlc, etc) into a single gamespace. While doing so, we took the time to make some improvements to the various site sections both in functionality and in attempts to make the user experiences from each section look and feel more similar (looking at you, Q&A).

If you'd like to check things out and give us some feedback, just post in this topic and let me know and as long as I can tell you're asking to join the beta and not just posting for the hell of it, I'll bring you in. I won't be here too long, so I'll make a cutoff after a bit.

Honest opinion, I'm not a fan of the boxes... maybe it takes up less space on mobile or something, but on desktop, it just looks like chunk after chunk, whereas the boards right now have a straight flow to them without a gap between posts.

Common feedback. We're taking it into consideration but not quite sure what we plan to do about it yet. For those whom it's a dealbreaker for we do provide the current site style as an alternative, though we do hope that by launch users are more satisfied with the new look as well.

Some of them might be updated, the creators have access and have been poking around with it.

Nope. The boards will look different by default, but those who don't like it will have the ability to restyle it to look like the current boards do.
