Botw still has "dungeons" they're just short and to the point. People complain they repeat things a lot, which is true. But so did the dungeons in the old games. I can't even count how many *shoot the hidden thing on the wall to reveal the key/open the door* instances there are And the only games didn't even have good or clever puzzles. They were boring and basic as shit 95% of the time. At least in BOTW you can break them in 1000 stupid ways with the mechanics "Most of the landscape is nothing." Most of the landscape in the old games was nothing. You interacted with so little of the old games in a meaningful way. Zelda 1 had great exploration, it's just suoer cryptic by today's standards. MM had a cool story so I can see that appeal. But not the gameplay. WW was good outside the dungeons and triforce quest. Other than that, fuck the old games --- |
