I'm all for gay rights but I won't lie and say my son being gay won't bother me slightly.

This happens usually with my circle of friends. We all make good money. Theyre fiscally conservative while Im left.

When we drink we talk politics. Im getting to a point where Im starting to say fuck it. Its not like Im in need. Whether minimum wage is $8 an hour or $15 it doesnt affect me.

Whether rent or buying a home is too expensive. It doesnt affect me.

The only thing that does is universal health care.

Im getting to the point where Im becoming apathetic to everything because at the end of the day it doesnt matter or change MY life at all.

Employers are having trouble staying staffed because people are realizing their worth more than $11 an hour. And even if they would be willing to work for that little, it's not enough money to keep people from starvation. You'd need two roommates, and all three of you would have to be on food stamps, just to survive on that.

It's the iron law of wages. People won't work for less money than it takes to survive. Business have gotten so greedy that they want people to pack together like rats and be on government subsided food rations. That to me seems like the nightmare we were promised would happen if America ever fell to communism.

The eviction crisis is coming more from the rent costs than the pandemic. If rent prices were affordable and pay was fair, most people would have been financially able to take a month or two off.

What are they doing to fix the work force crisis?? Why are businesses allowed to short staff and pretend to the public that its the workers who wont go? They want hours and you wont staff the business because its cheaper for you. What are they doing to incentivize businesses to pay living wages? What are they doing to force landlords to rent for fair prices?

We desperately need to raise wages to accommodate for the inflation weve seen recently. As is commonly (and correctly) said, the minimum wage needs to he $28-33/hr if we want a fighting chance. No, our country DOESNT need to have an entire class of people who starve and constantly stress over finances. EVERY job needs to pay a living wage or it needs to shut down.

Of course Im not suggesting that the previous administration even so much as acknowledged these issues, but the Democrats are kind of supposed to focus on this stuff. Then we had Obama bailing out the bankers TWICE while people struggled to get by. Wtf??

Because a president can't just do what he wants. He has to get all the bickering factions of the DNC in the House and Senate to work together. That shit is hard.

Come on. Lets get grounded in reality. I like the other guy's idea about subsidizing rent. But as of right now, all of those are fantasies. They're definitely something to work towards to in the future though.

If spending that much I'd want at least a 3080. My 3080 still struggles with games like AC Valhalla in 4k.

The reality is 4K is still a bit off. These new graphic cards are beginning to make 1440p the norm rather than 1080p.

Maybe the next generation of GPUs make 4K playable.

So, my sister is a delightful person (Ie, complete fuck up in life) so my niece and nephew live with my mom while she gets her shit together which will be never.

So, I was visiting my mom for dinner at her house and my uncle (my mom's brother) was also visiting. Now, my niece's and nephew's father is in prison (good job picking men my sister does) so I try to be a father figure to my nephew. I tell him to man up when he acts sus, tell him he needs to be fit instead of doughy, and general tips in life. He's 14.

So, we're (me and uncle) are looking for him and found him in his sister's room getting legit makeup being put on by my niece (16 years old) and we just end up laughing. He cried. He ran to grandma to tattle.

Police officers need to learn how to do their fucking job without carrying guns. Only the most skilled and highly trained officers should be trusted with guns as part of their uniform.

If you and your fellow officers can't chase down a suspect, handcuff them without choking them to death, and get them into your patrol vehicle without resorting to guns, then you don't deserve to be a police officer.

There are way too many cops who are absolute sissies, and I'm probably being too conservative with that assessment. If you are carrying that gun because you live in constant fear, tinkling your trousers at the sight of your own shadow, then quit the police force and join a monastery.
