if the zss is predictable you can at least full hop nair preemptively to counter it, but online you have to read the move really hard to "react" to it

dedede isn't good, but in this game the worst characters can still do good work. peanut gets results with a bottom 2 character

plus it's been his main since brawl so he might as well keep the title as best dedede if he enjoys the character, and given his age he probably just does smash on the side

both characters are respectably pretty solid

meta hasn't really changed that much. zss dropped a bit (tough a lot of people overstate it a bit) and sephiroth and mythra are top tiers and minmin is at the top of high-tier and has very polarizing matchups
people are mastering diddy more and discovering how dumb strong he is, and wolf is being talked about as a top 5 character again

wifi banjo does him a disservice to his image

speed and jump monado make him a godly edgeguarder, smash art lets you kill dummy early with dumb things like reversal up bs and backairs, and his forward throws becomes really good with smash art too

he outranges most of the cast and he's deceptively hard to punish even with his frame data

kazuya is probably too high but min min is extremely good and blows up a lot of the cast
kazuya seems too abusable by basically everyone above mid-tier and he has no results yet

sonic is underrated for sure but cloud is a lot weaker offline where up+b and up smash can actually b punished

pacman and zss being where they are is probably the hottest takes because they have the results to back up being super top tier (compared to shulk who's really inconsistent because kome always drowns in pools), but i do agree that pyra/mythra is not being exploited enough offstage so they look unstoppable at the moment

i have cerebral palsy and can't really dribble without falling over

this poll is pretty shit and people still pretend that toxic masculinity isn't real

sheik has the best and safest neutral in the game, even beating zss. she's not easy to edgeguard and she can get early kills with edgeguards because she has the mobility to contest most recoveries and can make it back to stage safely

she doesn't deal much damage individually but the hits do add up with how long her combos can be and, most importantly, they drag you across the stage and into an offstage scenario. needles > bouncing fish and combos into her upsmash are good at killing and they're being mastered

she doesn't have arsene but she's a better character than arseneless joker. she is notably the hardest matchup against minmin and with how safe and fast she is you're always in a guessing game that she has the advantage in. i probably wouldn't call her the best but she's definitely very good and japan has been placing her in the top of tiers (abadango placed her in the same tier as pacman, mario, sonic, joker, pikachu, zss, etc)

her weight is her biggest weakness, being one of the few characters to get a significant weight nerf between games. she can randomly explode but she's so oppressive and hard to hit

considering i can just get 30 for $15 i'd say that's pretty bad

proto's tier list has the spiciest of takes, but sheik as #1 is something i can sort of get behind



i don't know why duck hunt's icon is so messed up but that abomination between diddy and olimar is in fact a dog. even the japanese playerbase is really confused by this list

They made Bowser way too agile in Smash, in general, starting with Wii U.

to be fair, bowser was the worst character in melee and bottom tier in brawl, and was a total gimmick in 4 like dk was and i think that design of fishing for grabs was really unhealthy
bowser has pretty dumb attributes in ultimate but he still has awful landing and his recovery is a lot less good than it looks if you actively challenge it. side-b is a di check and can take a while to kill because of it. he has two good oos moves but they all have awful endlag

bowser being agile is the only thing that makes him good (i wouldn't even rank him top 20) because he lacks some of the major weaknesses that ganon and dedede (the worst superheavies) have

kazuyas are flooding elite now

thankfully most of them aren't very good because he's fun to bully

why would people fish for a frame 9 out of shield jab combo that can be di'd

it's a pretty simple thing that probably severely punishes people in low levelled play i guess but he has so many scarier combos that are a lot more consistent

kazuya players are funny
they keep lasering me when i'm too short to get hit

don't know how i feel about him balance-wise. he deals a lot of damage but his range and mobility are awful and his recovery is easy to gimp even with the options he has. he's like mac but not shit

i think the nerfs are pretty warranted. it's a pretty noticeable nerf but i'm not going to be dumb like dabuz who said she got nerfed into the ground (lmao)

Oh I wanted to ask Ant, what do you think of the G&W vs Byleth matchup? I was rewatching that set between Leo and Maister where Leo swapped off Byleth to an unpracticed Ike to take the set.

byleth beats game & watch but she's easier to gimp than other sword users depending on where she's sent on stage

it's kinda like the min-min match: the opponent is way stronger in neutral and plays to g&w's disadvantages but g&w's advantage state can be explosive
