I remember hearing that a lot of the science in TBBT was real but they were really sloppy and fake with their pop culture references. If I took a shot for every time they got something wrong, I'd die of alcohol poisoning.

I swear, I cringed so hard when they talked about having a memory card for Super Mario 64. I was like "WTF" and it just made the cast sound stupid because if they had ever played it, they know better.

It's possible to be a rogue and do none of this shit. Or be a "trickster barbarbian" and do all of it as well.

Toxicity is class-neutral.

lol yeah, I'd probably play barbarian like a stereotype though...I tend to, sadly. I DO try to make things interesting in play but I'm stuck with classic themes when I make characters. I'm also not going to use it as an excuse, if I play rogue, I'd play it differently, but my best friend will probably not think so which is my reasoning for disregarding rogue. So its more for his sake than my own.

Yeah I think the general rule is don't antagonize or try to pull one over on the people you're supposed to be partied up and working together with, as its supposed to be a cooperative game. From the D&D stories I've read some DMs and players get annoyed when a player "has their own agenda" and tries to screw over their friends.

Yeah, I suppose I had that issue as well. I made the biggest mistake of "He'll warm up to them and become a better character" but considering evolution needs to take place, that might never come. Besides, he didn't try to kill or do much beyond the gambling and the arrow stealing...he followed the quest as necessary and the worst part was that most of hte players were just quiet in general. It was a bad idea for me to play Rogue in a group with new people with one who just wanted to get out of the house and wasn't even trying to learn...even after I took over as DM and we played for 10 sessions.

It was like teaching a child to play. If I was just a background noise, I think they wouldn't have been so bothered but it was like I was the only one willing to move forward..and having a chaotic character like that is stupid..I'd rather just be comic relief or popping off one liners. I think my friend said he was monologuing and no one answered and my character said something funny and he felt like it ruined his experience but I told him I only did it because I was in character and it was just awkward silence...

but its made me want to not be that kind of player, especially around him. But it still doesn't beat my game's warlock doing a foot race against another player and deciding that it'd be funnier if he stuck his finger up the guy's butt and kept ruining the feeling of dread I was trying to promote.

Maybe, you're right, but I end up getting too into character and I have a habit of playing trickster rogues. I still rather enjoy a lot of the other classes anyway. When I told him I wanted to try a gunslinger with a level in rogue, he just looked at me and I said "I just want sneak attack dude...,please believe me"

I tend to be a DM and I think of myself as fair and no one's quit on me yet so...there's that and my best friend says that he hates my rogue because I play the most annoying halfling rogue ever and that I do a lot of toxic things(in character) and he knows its in character because I tend to play some really cool ones like my Paladin or Fighter but he said that Milo gave him PTSD(especially when I brought him in as a guest NPC in my game) and even gave the option to have him offed if they wanted it.

He was the type of guy who would steal arrows on the field after battles and then try to sell them back...and he'd always want to gamble and cheat during the games. I honestly didn't even realize it was that bad until I started marathoning these DnD horror stories and how toxic some players were...while mine never left into out of character experiences, I realize that even then, its still terrible for the party ;_; xD

I love rogues...and I will never play one again.

I am currently running as lancer

Lancer/Dragoon is fun. It used to get on my nerves a little because of how strict the rotation is but they lightened up on it. I currently main Monk but I'm a little mad because they made it TOO easy. Monk is basically about your positions because almost every skill uses either rear or flank and you end up getting used to which is which.

Then you have to worry about the stacks of greased lightning(which increases your attack speed per stack) but now they removed that and it just feels...like I don't have to think or plan ahead xD.

I remember when we used to have something called TP which is like MP but with regular attacks. As a Monk in heavensward, you'd run out of TP so easy during raids that you constantly had to worry about dealing with that..

Game is still great, I love it, but some things I do miss.(not TP though. That stuff is gross)

I don't buy teh books outright either, I just buy the necessary information since my players use the Character sheets online. I'll buy the stat blocks for monsters so I don't have to keep pages tabbed. Instead, I just have open tabs of monster blocks which make things infinitely easier. Rather, if I started playing in person again, I'd still bring a laptop because bringing a bunch of thick ass books is tiring.

Yea players like that suck. I had joined a game online with someone that was trying to learn to be a better DM, so I suspected the story might not be all that great and was expecting things to move a little slow but I didn't really care because we all have to start somewhere. So another guy joins the game as well and just turns out to be a similar kind of player and just absolutely destroys the game because he felt the need to just be an ass about the whole thing. Like everyone that joined the game knew it was an inexperienced DM and the guy is treating him like he should have 20 years experience. He took advantage of every loophole he could find and made the DM just give up.

Yeah, I'm sorta inexperienced even with a few years under my belt but you can't just learn everything all at once. I was worried but the 2 experienced players seemed to like my game because even if I don't know all the rules, I at least put up a good story and have a narrative. I could never GM a 3.5 game though. I think I've been pretty lucky to have great dm's in all my campaigns. Players range from awesome to ok.

Last game I was a player of, there were 8 of us and 1 of them was so loud and took all the attention. I really disliked the game because I felt ignored half the time and I came up with a great detective-like story and I thought our GM would be like me and use backstories and character types. But instead, I was relegated to just...battles.

The player who stole all the spotlight spent most of it trying to undermine the GM and constantly trying to break the game for his amusement. It was like he was playing a character who knew he wasn't real and he kept doing meta stuff like...we found a device and he immediately knew what it was because he read about it and he had all this knowledge so he knew what every weakness was and he was yelling at us(that's how he talked) and was telling us how to defeat the enemy outside the game.

And to top it off, he was a min-maxer. After about four games, I quit.
