In my experience, the Internet understands absolutely nothing about the actual premise of power dynamics. It often seems like there's a perception that any relationship where the two partners are not completely equal in every way is an imbalance of power. Which is not even remotely the point of that concept.

"in my experience" what fucking experience here do you have. You want to give specifics? What specific incest relationship do you have that's fine and dandy super healthy.

Or is this a lot of words to sound pseudo intellectual defending some theoretical concept of "ethical incest" which pretty much is nonexistent or is 0.000001% of cases which you won't be able to even name without it being a bit problematic still

seriously you're defending incest, the vast majority of which is clear cut rape

take a step back

edit: this pro incest shit is it for me, done with this site, last straw just can't with this site anymore

Neither of them are good, but incest =/=molestation. Consent makes a world of difference.
power dynamics obfuscate consent, gtfo with that

and in context with this thread, the incest meme shit is always about being "stuck" aka non-consensual aka rape

Oh yeah I never meant to say you should drink gin straight. Just that it's not flavorless. There's plenty of interesting liquors out there that I still wouldn't drink straight, just not my thing in general so can't give an opinion there. I'll try it straight though to see how it is.

Gin is the worst alcohol in the world and the only people who get it are people dumb with their money. It's a watery, flavorless alcohol. There is a reason why almost all gins are served with a mixer as they NEED it. Someone who knows alcohol, and who likes alcohol, and who enjoys quality will get literally any other alcohol.
Go try some Monkey 47. It's absolutely not flavorless. Maybe you've just had bad gin? One reason I typically don't like gin is because it does usually suck, so I'll only have very few specific brands.

That said I much prefer whiskey.

Won't know till I actually visit though, I'm a bit leery about the temps, since I really don't like post 90 degree weather.

There's been days here in San Francisco high 80s and 90s that are worse than when I was in Texas because there's no fucking AC here. Going outside is better. Texas hotter with A/C was better. Falling asleep here is a struggle when it's hot.

I live in a dense city (San Francisco) but we've been great about social distancing and masks. We're at >70% first shot vaccines for 16+ leading the nation

I know a handful of people who got covid, in red counties in California. They gathered as big families inside without masks and are antivaxx. Literally killed grandma. Literally.

I don't want any of that long haul stuff. People think about chicken pox parties like it's a good "natural" thing. No one wants shingles though..

The power outages are also a big concern, but also not sure how much they affect the Bay. I believe it's a big deal in the LA area though.

This didn't affect me. I saw it affecting coworkers in east/north/south bay but in SF itself it didn't affect me.

I saw pics of SF the year before last where the sky was orange, but not sure if the Bay Area is hit as hard as LA (My uncle lives in malibu and had to fight fires from burning down his house).

the sky was orange and my n95 and eye goggles came in handy walking around since the air was difficult to breathe in and hurt my eyes. Also had a lot of headaches during that time because old Victorian with bad insulation.

But that was such a small percentage of the year...most of the time here is mild weather.

wolfy42 posted...
Anyway, if I can make it work, I would love to live in the Bay Area again, but....the cost of living there is so extreme sigh.

yeah I don't plan on staying and buying here. Just not worth it to me. There are plenty of nice things here but I prefer Austin having been there for so many years and it's far more affordable. I'm glad I had a chance to live here for now though for the experience. Still will be here another few years. But I miss Austin, it's my home.

There are still other reasons to wear a mask personally. Other diseases besides COVID (this pandemic year was the first year for me since I can remember where I haven't gotten ill with a cough that lasts a couple months). Privacy. They look cool, I have multiple styles that are cute. They keep my face warm when it's cold out.

Also variant breakthrough (though this is showing to be not an issue for hospitalization), immunocompromised, J&J and AZ not super duper effective, etc.

I won't judge vaccinated people not wearing a mask now. But people can still wear one to be extra cautious if they want or for other benefits.

Anti mask being a problem before was a public health risk. Still wearing a mask isn't a public health risk. So comparing those is a false equivalence.

oh right the other part of my message

Moving cross country and paying for a moving company to move 2 bedroom apt of stuff cost me about $8k (Texas -> California). Could be cheaper (likely is) to just rebuy furniture and move essentials yourself. If you have a job lined up sometimes they pay for moving costs (mine did).

Then for an apartment deposit + 2 months rent it was another $10k. Again, 2 bedroom. This was San Francisco, LA is a bit cheaper. But deposit + 2 months rent is pretty common.

(plus airbnb while we were looking)

Finding roommates is another option that would be cheaper but that's a process. You could maybe do some airbnb hostel while looking.

I prefer a more intimate proposal too. Discussed with my bf the issue of proposing with the ring, and like the idea of having like a stand in ring for the proposal then shopping for an actual one together after. I know a bunch of people who did that, or just shopped for the ring beforehand then left the specifics of a proposal a surprise (that's what we did with my first proposal lel). Everyone I know knew a proposal was coming, not a huge surprise.

It's mostly a problem if you're freeloading and not contributing somehow or if it enables someone to do that.

18 is really young also. It's very normal to live with parents still while going to uni (coming home during the summer, holidays, or just all the time if the school is nearby) and right after for a bit.

The economy is shit for many people and it's becoming more normal to save money even past that.

That said, I wouldn't have dated anyone living at home once I was 25+ because that's just a different set of circumstances than what I'm looking for.
