I work in customer service and talk to people on daily basis. Lately I noticed with the younger generation, they sound like they're talking in text message format or lack insightful depth into their thought process when they speak. It's like they'll talk about their problems, then expect feed back, only to disregard the feedback and go back to talking about their problems as if they've never listened to you. I feel like I'm talking to a bot most of the time, so I dumb things down to better relate.

When someone would gripe about their problems, instead of giving advice and actually listening to their problems, I just nod and repeat back the last thing they said. Ironically, they think I'm a great listener this way than actually "listening" and responding to their problems with my own insight.

using an alt account I use to stalk a girl I'm crushing on. I got too drunk and wrote a bunch of nasty comments like "I bet you're just as fake as your tits!" "hope you die!"
The sad truth is, I know deep down in my unconscious mind, I was projecting what I had regressed as a means of dealing with rejection. Some how getting plastered drunk made me turn into that kid who got rejected in high school. I don't think I had the emotional capacity to handle the rejection so I ended up regressing through means of self defense and just blocked off that memory into a deeper realm of my unconscious mind. Now I feel like crap for ever going back to that helpless POS incel that I used to be.

Echo Park is gentrifying heavily. Highland Park too. If you move there, be sure to ask about parking as your first or second question.

OC was - in my GenX lifetime- very racist. Everything south of Long Beach was "behind the Orange Curtain". Skinheads, Nazis were rampant.

It's gotten better. I lived in Newport Beach from 2002-2003. But it still has a "feel" to it.

When the Chargers moved from San Diego to L.A., many players looked to move to the OC, close to their training facility. Despite putting up several months to a years worth of rent money up front, black players were denied at the last minute when they showed up in person over bullshit reasons - "oh a dog?" "oh kids?". White players didn't have that problem.

College campuses are generally pretty liberal, so unless you work at UCI, don't go by that. By Midwestern or Southern standards, the OC is liberal but the shit that goes on sometimes shouldn't happen in California.

The beaches are nice though.
Yikes. I had no idea how rampant the racism there was. Echo Park seems like first on my list then. How about Costa Mesa? There are tons of Japanese/Korean marts nearby if I can recall correctly and there's an international language school nearby. Did that change as well?
Irvine had a lot of international students living there as well. I remember going to the internet cafe near the bale after Uni on campus ave.

Everywhere I went I'd be surrounded by fobs from the motherland. I don't drive as well so I'll mostly be walking or catching Uber. My plan was to live there for a year, gain some inspiration from remembering fond memories there (maybe find a gf), then go back to Seattle for work.

In your opinion, where would be the best place to move to experience that "k-drama" soap opera life style? Students socializing at cafe's wearing their oversized hoodies while talking about their future admirations and goals. Going on a date getting pinkberry or spending weekends with your "hyungs" getting trashed talking about your ex-loves. It was a very innocent time in my life. I just want to re-live it again.
Thanks for your insight btw. Appreciate your help.

I went to UCI, 13 years ago and loved it. Didn't feel any type of bigotry or racism towards me. A good majority of the demographic there were international students or asian and my life style mimicked something out of a korean soap opera. I loved it so much that I want to go back in hopes I'll find new inspiration with my life.

Lately I'm seeing a lot of hate for OC through tiktok, claiming the place is very racist and the KKK of SoCal. Is this true? I just didn't expect things to change so much in 13 years. Anybody familiar with SoCal that can verify this?
If all things are true, I might just move to Los Angeles, Echo Park instead.

Lately I decided to change my style into something more "k-pop boy band" like and noticed that my hair was cut much shorter than the picture I showed my stylist. Like the fringe was cut much shorter revealing more of my forehead (which I expected to be mostly covered). I didn't want to ask the stylist directly if that was her intention as I didn't want to seem unpleasant and offend.

A friend tried to give me reassurance by telling me that Japanese salons usually do this so that the hair grows into the style. Not sure if she was spilling nonsense inorder to make me feel better but I remain unconvinced and in need of more validation. Please share me your thoughts. I appreciate you all. No really I do.

What are some other creative ways to say bye?

  • Sayonara, and good bye
  • Bonjour and bye
  • Cheers

What do you guys think about me using my money to open a vintage VHS shop where you rent out a room that's designed to look like a typical 80s home. You'll get to watch your old movies on a tube box tv and relive your past through a familiar setting. I'll target a niche demographic of people that are looking to escape reality and regress into their youth form.

Charge $100 flat fee for 4 hours of use? Then again, there's also the possibility that people are just going to be fornicating in their rooms. Hmmmm

No, I never once rented a porno. By the time I hit puberty, I had internet access and was able to have time alone here and there.

I remember working at a video store in twenty-fucking-thirteen and still having old guys come in to buy and rent it, though. Like dude, the internet. And also adult shops if you really need to buy them, you dont need to come into this chain video store where all the regular people are.
Maybe these guys get turned on by associating certain stimuli with the past by watching videos instead of the internet. Kind of like when you smell or taste something, you suddenly remember things you normally wouldn't have.

Started watching the show Red Oaks and made me feel a bit of nostalgia. I remember as a kid/teen going into tower records and sneaking a peak at X rated magazines. I miss the culture of spending a week planning what to rent and anticipating "movie nights" with your family. Or spending most of the days after school at an arcade while you wait for mom to cook you supper at home. Times were a lot more innocent for kids and adults back in the days. When did everything suddenly turn to ****? I can't help but feel a deep sense of melancholy when I look at how fast everything is pacing today. I suppose the only constant in life is change, but it's brutal. Really is.

If you really want to live in L.A. coming as an outsider, you change your address then your mind. How can you innovate, develop, research or develop your thing even more or better? This is the R&D state. Has been since day 1 if you think about it.

If you're a native it's muscle memory. If you came recently, it may be a challenge.
so if I'm a bit of a recluse and I'm socially awkward, what are some things you recommend me to do inorder to feel less of a struggle? I really want to soak in the L.A. life style, so that I can come across as a native to newcomers.

So how do I cope with them? Any skills you picked along the way, you'd like to share? or do I have to be equally smug and superficial to get along?

So I started to lie here and there because I'm...sort of insecure. Sometimes I'm a script writer, or a coding geek trying to build his start up. Other times I'm a professional GO player (pick a game westerners are unfamiliar with so they can't fact check you). Everybody then starts to want a piece of you. If I'm being honest and tell them I'm some waiter at a restaurant? People won't bother holding a conversation.

Like for example: a girl shows a half naked picture on social media with a thong so thin it's barely noticeable but continues to gripe about how she's being hyper-sexualized by a bunch of creeps.
