it's a bad time to jump into the stock market, right? im looking at the lifetime SP500 and DOW charts, and they are awfully steep recently. I have a feeling that some huge correction or recession is about to come

It's impossible to gauge exactly what the future entails. I'm in a bunch of smaller cap companies and they've been correcting since February/March. Most experts say to slowly accumulate during market dips because in the long run the market always trends upward. You might be down for a while but it always comes back eventually.

People have been calling for a crash basically since the last (real) one in 2007. Maybe it will, but more likely if you got in now it will continue to run long enough that you'd still be in the green after a correction by the time it comes, vs. waiting for it before buying. In any case always keep some cash on hand and buy when it does correct.

Welp, the MX merger was flagged as a "national security risk" by CFIUS and so the admin will likely reject the merger. Stock got BTFO today as a result and I'm bag holding it badly now. Still a good company and I bought it originally without knowing a merger is on the table so I expect it to come back. Not entirely sure what a SK chip manufacturer does that creates a national security risk for a different country it has almost no presence in, but I suspect it's just a political posturing move by the US.

At least CRSR finally popped so I was able to sell a CC and collect some premium and get my cost basis down a bit, so I got that going for me.

No, the vast majoprity of that is 1) bagholding a single SPAC, and 2) holding a shitload of a Korean chip company that is going through a US govt review to be cleared for a buyout. It's just getting shorted to hell at the moment while everyone waits for the review to complete on 9/13.

I still believe in the SPAC so I'll hold that one long term, and once the buyout is cleared I'll go from down $1500 to +$1,000.

I picked a bad time to average down on CRSR.

CRSR is a funny one, the market cap is almost exactly the same as the annual revenue.

Most stocks would react to that kind of value by going up. CRSR continues to bleed.

True, I never even knew there was men's volleyball in schools until I worked with a kid that played it in high school.

We only had an official girl's team at our school, the men's team was like a club sport or pickup games organized by the students.

Whenever I bring someone new into the game the first thing I have them focus on is simply getting solid contact on the ball consistently at the range. Don't even worry about where the ball goes, just get to a point where you aren't whiffing half the time. Smooth stroke and don't try to smash it. It takes a lot of reps to get just that far.

Accuracy comes later. Golf is one of those sports that are both hard to learn AND hard to master.

Somehow they turned a profit this year-half way ahead of schedule according to their ER last night (this morning in London). Everyone was expecting them to continue losing money due to lack of travel but I guess the outlook is better than expected. They are up about 5% today.

Assuming the market doesn't tank I think it'll bounce by the end of the week. The reaction was too severe on a small miss when they didn't even change their forward guidance.
