Covid scared him. It became a big deal during an election year which was like the worst possible timing for him and he didn't know what to do because of it. If he does the strongman response to a pandemic and attempts to shut everything down, he'd have been guaranteeing his loss. If he doesn't and Covid gets bad, then he'd guarantee his loss. So he tried deflecting and jumping onto any potential medical treatment in a desperate attempt to just make it go away.

Not really. Those aren't the only 2 options. The problem is, any talk of handling the pandemic competently has to handwave away the fact that Donnie is an insane, incompetent narcissist and to do things the proper way would require him to be a completely different person.

That's all fine and good, I guarantee there is an enormous difference in dog owners to snake owners in the US. There is no good reason for someone to own a snake that gets 20 feet that can swallow a large dog or a human being.

A snake wouldn't swallow anything other then a small child, which chances are you aren't leaving around dogs either.

Empathy means you have the capacity to understand another person's feelings. It isn't the same thing as compassion or kindness. Someone with a high capacity for empathy can still use it to manipulate or exploit other people.

But they aren't understanding other people's feelings. They are ascribing a feeling to a large group of people based off of what THEY think. It has nothing to do with empathy.
