One of the problems with Superman, Captain Marvel, and other such supertypes is that they're not great movie characters. Movies demand a big bombastic supervillain to threaten the world and we expect it to be saved at the end, and these types offer little suspense that they'll make it through.

However, in serials, I think they're much better off because they don't always need the big booming villain event every time. More time can be spread for how they exist in the world. Investing in what they protect, why they do, and how they go about doing it > bad guy wants to destroy earth in the next three hours.

Look at Hancock with Will Smith. The first half of the movie is pretty great! It looks at a Superman type who is beaten down by the grind and past losses and is just dealing. Poorly, but dealing. The second half is a cliche superhero borefest.

Captain Marvel is... alright. I think she had a better movie than Marvel's other cinematic god, Thor, and better excuses for being away from big fights. Her interactions with Fury were some excellent buddy cop movie stuff. Her presence has taken away some of the shine from past events, but I'd argue the Eternals existence is even more egregious.

I haven't read many comics with her in them. My experience with her is a confusing mess of identities (Ms. Marvel, depowered by Rogue, Binary, Rogue personality, then fast forward to lightning suit then Civil War II... yeah, I don't follow her well).

D'aww... I'm the Mack nominator. I like him well enough, but can agree with mnkboy that he's the least of the AoS entries. I wanted some post-Season 1 representation and I was between him, Yo-Yo, and Enoch.

This. I forget if I mentioned before, but Strange is still a terrible doctor. Gifted, absolutely, and can do absolutely amazing things, but he just does things because he can. He didn't explain the risks or side effects or see if that was the best course for his patient; it was an opportunity to perform a novel surgery and when it backfired he blamed the patient.

Is Peter a dumbass? Sure. But so are a lot of people who overreact to mild symptoms and go to consult the doctor. No, having a fever doesn't mean you have Ebola; you do not immediately get lung cancer from sitting in a car with a smoker; you shouldn't tamper with multiverse because people know who you are and you and your friends didn't get into the college you wanted.

I don't think any of it was really out-of-character. Absolutely irresponsible, but Strange looked through billions of different timelines, picked the one where Thanos was defeated (and likely the Infinity Stones weren't abused by the heroes), and succeeded.

The man who once was the most arrogant and talented surgeon until he broke his hands became the most talented and arrogant sorceror... until he broke reality.

In JRPGs where you can only use a subset of the full party at any given time, I will usually rotate what party members I'm using constantly so that I end up using everyone pretty much equally. Even if I like certain ones more, they get no favoritism - I prefer the variety and 'sense' that everyone in the team is actually involved in the gameplay as well as the story.

This. If a game has an overabundance of characters to play with (Suikoden, Chrono Cross, Valkyria Chronicles), I get so mired down by wanting to collect and play as them all that I fall away not long after the pool becomes so wideml

Though Fire Emblem is a mild exception. I still have the indecisions on who to put into the party when it comes time, but with permadeath, RNG level-ups, experience dips from overlevelling, and relationship growth, it's a lot more of its own game who to choose to field and than who do I leave out. Also, Nephenee on all teams always.

Thinking about other games... if there's only one character with a steal ability, that character is never leaving the party. But specifically..

I know there are some, but none come to mind that have that 'oomph.' Worst I can think of is Justice League Task Force, but I'm fairly well past that joke of a Christmas present. I've also had decent luck compared to a friend where he would get that reaction for games like Fallout: New Vegas because of corrupted data eliminating hours to a full game.

Remembering seeing my cousin playing Resident Evil 2 for the first time makes me wince a little, too.
