Looks like the GTA Definitive Trilogy is a buggy mess. A lot of updated models look bad, there's some model and texture glitches, a bridge in SA that turns invisible when you drive over it, some ground near a tunnel entrance in III isn't solid, some real poor rain effects that just look like a bunch of white lines falling from the sky, and a lot of writing on the buildings has misspellings, leading to speculation that they used an AI upscaling program that has trouble telling certain letters apart. Also, while they unsurprisingly had to take some songs out because of licensing, they also weirdly took out a song by their own made-up band, Love Fist.

On top of that, they removed the original games from all modern digital stores, leaving old physical discs, older system digital versions, and the Definitive Trilogy as your only options for the classic experiences. And coincidentally, the Definitive Trilogy has been temporarily removed from sale on the Rockstar site.

Boy, you'd think the owners of the single most profitable piece of media of all time would have done this better. Ah well, those yachts won't coat themselves in gold!

So, uh... someone on Twitter posted a picture of this cat-like animal that they saw in the wild, and I thought "Is that a bobcat?" My tablet browser's default search engine is Bing, so I typed "bobcat" into the image search, and... LITERALLY NOTHING BUT FURRY SMUT. What the fuck, Bing?! I had to turn safe search on to actually get relevant results!

Saw a question on Twitter that asked "What were the five most important games in your teen years?"

I'd say mine were:

-Sonic Adventure 2
-Megaman X5
-Animal Crossing (GC)
-Luigi's Mansion
-The original five Commander Keen games as a whole

SA2 and X5 were thrilling escapes from a miserable middle school. AC was relaxing and the GC version in particular had a great atmosphere and heart. I loved LM because I love the paranormal and found satisfaction in sucking up all that treasure. And the CK games had great level design and personality.

On a side note, part of the reason I loved the MMX series was because of the great character designs, ESPECIALLY the armor. The series really helped me realize my love of well-designed armors. While I definitely prefer futuristic sci-fi armor, there been some fictional medieval armors here and there that I liked, like the Witcher School armors from Witcher 3.

Ordered some subs from this pizza place across the street and they threw in a medium stuffed crust cheese pizza with it. I guess someone ordered a pepperoni pizza, but they only put cheese on before putting it in the oven, and they decided to give it to me instead of splitting it among themselves for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm a regular customer. I do come in every couple of weeks or so for pickup since they're so close. My brother decided to take some slices for lunch tomorrow.

The pizza place is called Romeo's. If you haven't tried them, I absolutely recommend them. Their pizza sauce is slightly sweet, like they mixed some sugar in with it.

I really wish New Horizons had a way to quickly remove a bunch of flowers. There's some decoration ideas I want to try, but first, I need to clear out a bunch of flowers, and that requires digging them up one at a time and wasting shovel durability.

I really wish more games with customizable home bases had a special build mode to more efficiently decorate, like the Sims series. Fallout 4 and Animal Crossing: NH just keep you in control of your character like normal. NH has a special mode for interior decorating, but not for the outside, so teraforming, adding and removing water, and placing paths is a tedious chore.

Oh, it turns out that Bug Fables does let you swap leaders during battle by pressing the same leader change button during battle, so long as no one's used a turn.

Also, whenever you use the ability that lets you see enemy health and defense, each of the three characters has their own dialogue talking about it. When looking at the entry, all of their dialogues are written in it, so you don't need to use the ability three times each to see all the dialogue.

Found out about this thing called Neural Blender. Basically, you enter in some keywords, and it generates an image that looks like some misshapen, half-formed mental image that only vaguely resembles your words. Here's one I made with "Strongest man in the universe"



I mean, you can certainly see a strong man, a significantly stronger man, and a universe.

If you wanna make one of your own, keep in mind it takes a few minutes for your pic to be generated.

Started playing Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling. It's meant to be a throwback to the first two Paper Mario games, which actually had depth and creativity.

It's really good, and fairly difficult. While the Paper Mario games had your health go up in increments of 5, BF has it go up in 1, so you can't afford to take as many glancing blows. You'll want to learn the timing for blocks real quick.

The battle system has some neat complexities. The character in the lead gets a +1 attack bonus, while the one in the back gets a -1 penalty, so you have to think on who your best lead character is before you go into battle. You can also sacrifice a character's turn to let someone else attack multiple times, but that character will suffer damage penalties from exhaustion.

There's some nice quality of life stuff, too. You can press a button to have your characters banter about the area you're in or the NPC you're standing next to, much like Goombario and Goombella did, everyone has the ability to study an enemy and find out its HP and defense, and the chefs all start out being able to cook two ingredients right off the bat. Chefs are also present in every city and are near the item shops, so you can quickly grab ingredients for a decent dish. Money you put in the bank also acxumulates interest every 30 minutes, which I think is neat.

I wouldn't recommend the Switch version for one simple, but glaring flaw: Random button attacks.
One character's main attack has you press a random button after a countdown, just like Vivian's basic attack. But that worked because the GC/N64 controller buttons all had their own distinct shapes and colors, so hitting the right was incredibly easy. But the Switch has identical round, gray buttons, with the only difference being the letter on them, so doing that is harder. This very likely isn't an issue on other consoles, since they at least have distinct colors and icons.

With how much John liked the original two PMs, I'm sure he would have liked this. I have no idea if he did play it. I don't recall him ever mentioning it.

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise has the best concept for a rhythm game segment ever: Working in a clinic and alternating between healing the sick with pressure point jabs and beating thugs to death, all to the beat of energetic remixes of classic songs like Ode To Joy and the Turkish March. Even if I didn't suck at rhythm games, I'd be laughing too hard to concentrate.

Also reminds me of how Arkham Asylum started out as a beat-em-up rhythm game before they made it into the final product. The fights still have a sort of rhythmic quality to them, though.
