Dumb take. AWS likely has far more robust redundancy than any on-prem solution that guy's town would be able to implement on their own. The lesson they should learn from this is to operate cross-cloud, so set things up in AWS as well as GCP/AZURE/etc... The worst lesson would be to go back to everything on prem.

Fun fact: Diablo 3 and Diablo 2 are not the only ARPGs

but that aside even though I like D2 more than D3 overall, there are still plenty of things D3 did better that D2 could benefit from. It's not an all or nothing thing.

I played OG Diablo 2 for years, and I plan on playing this. However, I'm still pissed that they took an ugly stuck to all the character model faces. They tried to write it off as "problematic old designs", but there's no excuse for it. They hyped up how they painstakingly went to great lengths to make everything as close as possible to old D2 (just with updated graphics), but completely screwed that part up.

Do you even see their faces past the character select screen? I've seen people complain about this one, but I have no idea why it matters so much. Most of the time your character is too small on screen to make out any details on their face.

Sure it was amazing for its time, but there are 100 aspects of it beyond the graphics that have aged poorly which they don't seem interested in improving. Believe it or not, games continued to advance more than in just graphical fidelity over the last 20 years.

Yeah I never understood why they went with the FFX-style sphere grid. It made the game pretty inaccessible.

SC remake could have also used with some QOL improvements as well, like letting me select more than 12 units at a time and improving pathfinding... but I get the casual player isn't the primary demo for that game because of the professional leagues, so it is what it is.

As for D2R, I was excited until I saw they didn't take the opportunity to improve the areas where its age is showing really badly. Instead it's literally just D2 with a shiny coat of paint. I guess that might be a fun nostalgia trip, but not worth the price they're asking. I think this will end up being a badly missed oppurtunity. It probably only exists to drum up hype for D4.

Totally right, but that still doesn't excuse executive overreach. The solution here is election reform (criminalizing gerrymandering, eliminating barriers to voting, getting corporate money out of politics, etc...) and for people to stop voting in the incumbent 80-90% of the time while also complaining about congress being do nothing.
