I love Bill Maher and tend to agree with him on most issues but you gotta admit sometimes his jokes don't really stick the landing. This is one of those times, that was kinda lame.

I appreciate Covid is a fairly unique situation so should sit outside the norm but it does potentially open up the doors to conversations about denying hospital care for other people where there injuries are deemed "self inflicted".

You must have me confused with someone else. I wasn't around when RBG passed. Also, I don't celebrate deaths or support those that do.

The shitty excuse they use is "well, i'll lose viewers that way cause not everyone has amazon prime".

Streaming copyrighted video in it's full format has never been protected by fair use. If you chopped it up into short clips and were using those clips to review or critique the film/show, then it is protected.

I hope this helps clear up your misunderstanding of what fair use is.

They add no value aside from a picture of their face in the corner while the cartoon is playing. The experience you get from watching the stream is no different than the experience you get if you watch it directly.

Compared to video games the experience is not the same is playing it yourself. The interactions the group has during Among Us were not the same experiences I had just playing the game. They create things in Minecraft that I would have not created. Competitive games are similar to watching a sporting event.

In all of these cases the streamer adds something that was not part of the original content.

If they had real commentary that added something to the cartoon, I would say they are the same. But most of the time they just stare at the screen barely speaking, sometimes even getting up and doing something else while the show plays not even watching or commenting.

Are you saying you should be able to just replay anything with no problem?

To me that is way different than staring blankly at the screen watching cartoons for 8 hrs and making a comment every 5 minutes.

Does fair use let you stream full seasons of TV shows with barely and commentary or reaction?
