in tony hawk, a jump like that is nothing, means nothing, might be a gap, maybe. in skate, it has weight, gravity, it takes effort, even down to adjusting the landing. it's just a different kind of game. tony hawk's about score, objectives, crazy things no one can do in real life, whereas skate is chill, grounded, it's a canvas for the player to be creative on

Im not bashing it, im genuinely curious how its different because im looking for a new skating game.

it's more physics based, imitating reality. you can't even land on a flat surface safely if you fall more than 20 feet. i play on the most realistic physics setting, so the fun in it for me after all these years is challenging the limitations of the game and skating interesting objects.

honestly, being able to make a character and moveset is really damn cool for this kind of game, but i don't see it having anywhere near the necessary nuance, polish, or balancing to actually be any good, that's not even to say anything for whether its online would be up to snuff, either
