I feel like I agree with you on the GAA games, Janus. G2-3 was great, but G2-5 is one of the worst cases in the series - it has the "advantage" over other bad cases in that it's super long and the culmination of two games of buildup, which makes it extra bad. Prosecutor Kazuma sucks, vindicating him by having his dad be innocent all along (though it's interesting to think of this being a dark twist instead), and I really didn't care about "the truth of ten years ago" after G2-3, which gave me exactly what I wanted. Sherlock's magic holograms were damn awful too and might've ruined the case if it wasn't already bad. At least Jigoku's a cool villain. Having the judge be the bad guy was great.

Utawarerumono Mask of Truth question: people follow Woshis's orders when he tells them to do something because he's a human and demihumans are engineered to follow human orders. However, demihumans often don't follow Haku's orders when he tells them to do things, even when they're forceful commands. Why is that?

Isn't that how it goes with most series? Like how many Office Christmas episodes did you watch in December? How many summer anime episodes have you watched in winter? Fictional holidays usually don't end up coinciding with IRL holidays I think.

I never really got fanservice games like this. Go for something like Kamidori or Monster Girl Quest or Koihime Musou or whatever if you want sexy anime girls. Senran Kagura's way too half-assed.

I think all the FF healers have robes rather than armor.

Not sure which series would be a go to for a lot of armored healers. Fire Emblem I guess? Even there it's mostly robes tho.

Tried playing this once, but didn't get very far before dropping it, so I won't rate. Kinda surprised you didn't elect to rate all the seasons at once and everything combined like you have for other stuff.

The later seasons are more separate than the other games he's done in combined days I think.

Hmm, there are some that have both (like Rabi Ribi) and others with close-ranged projectiles (like Ori 1), but focusing on projectiles Metroid-style feels rare to me. Touhou Luna Nights and Shadow Complex are the only big one I can think of. Melee games:

Ori 2
Hollow Knight
Ender Lilies
Dust
Guacamelee
Bloodstained
Momodora Reverie

etc. I think Melee is quite a bit more common, though I could be wrong.

Axiom Verge 2 looks good, but focusing on melee combat instead of guns is sad IMO. Gun Metroidvanias are a lot less common.

There's a lot about this game that's really competent. The battle system's fun, the skill system's cool (though there are too many skills, IMO). Lots of refined systems that feel good. The dungeons are solid, though some of them get a little long. The most impressive thing about it are the crazy production values. There's SO much unique content. Sidequests will have fully animated cutscenes. Moves in battle will have crazy long animations (that are skippable). It feels like the biggest budget game Atlus has made... which is sad, since the core of the game isn't that great. I don't like most of the characters much (though I don't dislike them). Kiria and Yashiro are solid, but Kiria's sidequests suck. The focus on the idol industry isn't super my thing either, though it's executed competently enough. It's a shame all the good things in here weren't applied to a game with better writing.

Which the Persona games are. Persona 3 to 5 are all awesome, have a very similar feel, and are highly recommended IMO. Persona 3 or 4 would be great next steps, especially P3P and P4G.

Also yeah it'd be nice not to have major flaws. All three Xenoblade games have some great parts and some terrible parts IMO, so getting one without those problems would be nice.

2022 - next Xenoblade

Makes sense for a dev cycle, though there are other games in there, like XBC DE. Not sure how development is split up considering that they have multiple studios (like how a bunch of Monolith employees worked on Breath of the Wild).

That might be high. The main story isn't that great, IMO. I think the side quests/blade quests are extremely good though. They were almost always a blast.
