Compared to 2, 3 and especially 4 yeah. Actually has somewhat developed characters and follows the conventional movie three act structure. I saw 4 in theaters and felt like walking out. None of the characters acted like real people and it was just mindless noise and junkyard explosions for over 2 hours.

And none of those "developed characters" were Transformers. Hence why all the live action movies suck.
