I guess you could just get them "naturally" through gameplay, but why would you not just immediately get high jump rather than waiting for it to maybe get it at some undetermined time? Further, dark form discourages just using the drive forms whenever you want. this is more along my line of thinking but I get where the prior poster is coming from. I also think with so many of the abilities not being awarded through story events it makes it hard to specialize later portions of the game around these moves, which in turn kinda limits their usage potential imo --- sigless user |

From what I recall, you get everything besides Glide right out the gate in Olympus -- formchanges, shotlock, attractions, flowmotion, etc. I feel like they should've spaced it all out progressively through the levels. Totally agreed honestly, and I say this as someone who still thinks its among the best combat in the series. In terms of progressing your move set, I feel like KH1 is the only one that REALLY does it right. KH2 is on the right track with the drive forms but those abilities are only temporary because of the drive forms, unless you grind to level them up which pretty much is always post-game if you wanna naturally get it and doesnt feel quite as satisfying. And even with stuff like glide and dodge roll it all almost feels pointless when most of the levels are just flat hallways --- sigless user |

For most of the game, its story works the same as KH2 where you just wander around and sometimes a member of the Organization shows up. The difference between the two is that KH3 is trying to wrap up about four or five different plotlines in those last few hours while KH2 was just wrapping up its own. The fact that KH3 has boss fights where multiple Organization members fight you at the same time that go into a lengthy cutscene in the middle of that boss fight is a cardinal sin. I guess heres where I differ from most people in that. I quite like those last 5 hours? Its once again, not perfect, but theres some really nice emotional points in there, some nice previously unexplored character dynamics, and while the state the prior games left KH3 in was far from ideal (it IS a lot of wrapping up), I was pretty dang satisfied with it! Im not gonna argue its better or worse than KH2 in that regard, I just think that the problem at that point isnt so much the pacing as it is the decision to end the saga there. But I cant personally think of any changes Id make to how itd end. Not here to change your opinion so much as represent the portion of people who actually like the way the game told its story and find the future of it to be infinitely more exciting than it seemed 10 years ago. I definitely prefer KH3s choice of doing less of a lore dump in the middle and more so a lore drip throughout, though I think it couldve benefitted from a KH2-esque middle point regardless. One thing I will actually argue against is the statement that most of KH2s worlds didnt follow the movie plot though. All I can think of is Tron and Hercules in that regard. I suppose Nightmare Before Christmas isnt a strict retelling but it veers closer to that than anything in KH1, or half of KH3s worlds. It feels like the worst offender of the main 3 games in that regard actually. Meanwhile in KH3 you have Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Hercules and Big Hero 6 all doing their own thing, and in the case of Pirates the plot thing is pretty much mitigated by the fact that theres like half a games worth of side adventures in there, it stops being the draw of the level. Tangled and Frozen are the real culprits here, and I only think the latter level is done worse than KH2. --- sigless user |

Sora spends the entire game searching for the power of waking, which means he goes around doing nothing, sees a disney movie play out, and decides to help or something, I dunno, and then is confused that he didn't obtain the power of waking by doing nothing, and then he gets it through the power of thinking about wanting it or something. ill give you one thing, the power of waking stuff is hot garbage lol. I quite like the organization cutscenes though and how you actually converse with them in the Disney worlds. In general I find them to be more involved with the story than in 2. I just cant help but feel like more stuff is actually happening in them, like with Vexens heel turn, the twilight town gang shenanigans, etc. its still not great but I feel like Im actually seeing stuff happen and am rewarded for traversing through the game nonetheless. --- sigless user |

As someone who was invested in all the games and played through 3 I think people either didnt play all the games or are way too critical of 3 because of losing Final Fantasy characters. the loss of FF characters was definitely weird, but not much more of just like a 30 second head scratcher to me like huh where are they. Squall and Cid and the gang were great, but the series never really did much with the cameos otherwise and I just cant imagine sticking with a series for 15 years and having that be a dealbreaker and not being more invested in the original stuff at that point. The story is cluttered enough as is YookaLaylee posted... I played through the entire series for the first time the year before 3 came out and I didnt have a problem with 2s pacing at all this is fine too! I play these games for the gameplay above all else, which I love. I just find it a bit disingenuous when people act like 3s pacing is some garbage that no one saw coming when theres kinda already a precedent for it, and at the very least you get a more consistent drip of story from it than the prior installment. Im sure theres genuine frustration with the game and the expectations that got built over time but I see the same takes over and over about it and cant help but feel like theres just a little bit of a hive mind going on around it being bad. All I know is Ive had more fun with it than every game in the series besides 1, and Ill stand by that its far from a perfect game but i guess its flaws just arent that bad to me? nothing there is really much of a dealbreaker. I think the main 5 games (1-3, BBS, DDD) are all pretty excellent in general --- sigless user |
