Is this the ivermectin paper that suggested it might have value against covid in humans, but only at lethal doses? If you're making up datasets, you could at least make it actually support your argument.

Okay, so I haven't really kept up with AEW. I remember back when it first started up, no one really wanted Hangman to win the title and people were saying he was forced.

What changed?

A really well done slow-burn storyline building him up over the past 2 years.

Kenny's reign has honestly suffered a bit since its been obvious since last December (when Kenny won the title) that Adam Page was the only acceptable choice to win the title.

I did not mean to snub my nose or be perceived as talking down in any way. I am sorry if it came across in that way. I disagree that these statements are facts. In theory, I am open to a civil discussion about the merits of anti-mandate and of Peterson etc, but this is likely not the best topic for it. And further, I'm pretty stressed/burned out/busy as of late so it likely would not be a good use of my current time and emotional energy.

So I think I'm going to leave it at the statement I made before:
"You always need to acknowledge the possibility that there are valid counter arguments.

IMO you can never learn, grow, or evolve your opinions if you aren't willing to acknowledge the existence and theoretically validity of counter opinions."

And move on.

Well, no. Not everything has a valid counter argument. The argument that the earth is flat doesn't have valid arguments for it. The fact that the arguments against the covid vaccine are pretty dumb doesn't really have a valid counter argument and the fact that vaccine mandates actually seem to work very well doesn't have a valid counter argument to it.

Just saying "yeah but there are two sides to everything" and then refusing to elaborate just makes it sound like you want an excuse to act like you're the smartest person in the room.

Well, why would you disagree with it? And how would you make people feel safe/confident about getting vaccinated while there is an active smear campaign against the concept that is based in absolutely nothing?

And I mean, the point of this topic is very much "dumbass says something stupid" because that's exactly what this is. There isn't an argument that Jordan Peterson is at best, a dumbass (and at worst an actively malicious grifter who doesn't care for the well-being of others) and that what he said was in fact, stupid.

So what is the point of a topic like this?

It pretty clearly operates from the premise of "mandates are good, and anybody who is against them is a dumb dumb. Also let's dunk on JP".

Because I see bad points and bad comparisons being made, and I want to object to them. But it feels like any objection to this mutual affirmation of correctness and moral superiority wouldn't be welcome, and may not even be appropriate.

So is the point of this topic then just "we are right/smart/superior, people we dislike are wrong/dumb/inferior, now let's all meme and affirm that so we can all feel good feelings."?

Well its a dumb person making a stupid point that is potentially dangerous. Except he's not the one putting himself at risk here, he's encouraging other people to go out and be unsafe and potentially harm themselves.

Vaccine mandates are flat out a good thing because its basically the least authoritarian way to get out of this public health crisis. Saying "okay, you all were willing to make a sacrifice when it was most needed, and now while we're getting out of the hole we want to reward the people who were willing to make those sacrifices while not needing to regress back into dangerous territory since some people don't give a **** about others"

This topic is just pointing out that a con-artist is trying to sell his snake oil, except this con artist doesn't give a **** that the snake oil he's selling is actually somewhat poisonous.

I mean, I feel like 90% of the arguments that actually get thrown at them are in bad faith.

The BDSP boards have been pretty toxic for months, and its all just the same 3 talking points from people who were never going to enjoy the games to begin with who are only there to ruin it for everyone else. And the problem there is that it lets the actual reasonable criticisms get forgotten because the majority of complaints are basic BS just to whine.

I wouldn't be surprised if by now Pokemon has taken the approach of "its all BS so why bother" with how much mindless garbage is thrown at them. Especially when with the upcoming games that are coming out are basically Pokemon directly responding to what fans wanted and asked for, and are still getting nothing except toxicity.

On the other hand, this is also almost entirely because of really poor marketing for Sword and Shield. So you could say some of this is definitely on Pokemon.

I mean, he's clearly guilty of murder. Strictly speaking, nobody is debating that he killed those people.

The actual question should be "is what Kyle did defensible?" which I think is a much stronger argument in his favour. I could see a reasonable argument for like, 2nd or 3rd degree murder, but not what he's been charged with.

Being as generous as possible to Kyle, he still had a gun he shouldn't legally have, and went to a protest with the express intention of stirring ****. That at best, still makes him a POS. You shouldn't go to prison for being a POS though.

The problem is that this probably never should've gone to court to begin with - its obvious Kyle killed people and obvious it was likely self-defence - so Kyle should gotten a slap on the wrist and like, community service or something. But instead its been blown up into more culture war BS where the prosecution is terrible, the judge is terrible, and the only real conclusion anyone is going to take from this is that the white supremacist looking for an excuse to hurt people will be perfectly fine so long as they don't hit first. Its a very bad conclusion to be making so public.

The real issue isn't whether Kyle killed someone or not, its that under testimony, he thinks he did nothing wrong. And that's scary, since he is also responsible for people dying for little reason beyond high tensions and a political disagreement.

So is this a case where they wanted the game packaged and shipped by a certain date but weren't done so they shipped what they had and hoped to hell they would be done with the rest by release date so they could drop the patch?

Theres a lot of really weird things in the leak that personally make me think its some part of Pokemon's weird hatred of leakers (like they've hammered down hard when previous games have leaked) and the day 1 patch is about the same size as the actual game, so that's a lot of stuff to have in to not be ready by when they shipped, but ready by a week before release.

Some of the weird stuff in the leaks include...
The entire battle area being blocked off (inaccessible, but clearly there)
The post-game legendary area is just inaccessible
theres no intro screen
some of the area's music is literally just the DS music (some of these areas had remixed music we've already seen)

So idk, there's clearly some actual in-game stuff that's at least going to be checked so you can use them so far, but who knows.

Proto_Spark
11/09/21 3:43:43 PM

Well if you have a vaccine, Covid will likely be less of a problem for your immune system and you will likely not get as sick from it. Its not a magical forcefield surrounding you, so you can still get "infected" with Covid-19, you're response will just be better.

The better your immune system can effectively stop Covid before it can establish itself in your body and "get you sick" the less of a chance it has to mutate into something that can possibly bypass the vaccine or cause more damage to people.

If I am vaccinated and spread Covid to you who is also vaccinated, both of our bodies know exactly how to deal with Covid and can stop it before its a problem to either of us. But if I'm vaccinated and spread it to you who isn't vaccinated, the virus can replicate a billion times in you while you get sick, allowing it a better chance of mutating into something that you can then spread back to me. And this likelihood multiplies with every non-vaccinated (and a few vaccinated) people who also get sick with Covid-19.

The vaccine mandate is just a way of saying "for health concerns you needed the shot and to stay away from each other, and now that we have some benefits of that we can ease restrictions, but only if you are willing to play along and also help, otherwise we'll just be getting each other sick and end up back at square one" So the people who actually tried to help (how they could - getting the shot, wearing masks, etc...) should be able to benefit from the work they put in and not suffer longer just because some narcissists or misinformed people weren't willing to do their share and help.
