I've been saying this for years and I've been correct the entire time. Show me all the amazing use cases of crypto. The only use case has been making money off greater fools. Companies getting in to make a quick buck doesn't make it a worthwhile technology. Namedrop all companies you want, but until we see actual useful products involving crypto, it's all vaporware. You shouldn't have mentioned El Salvador since that's only been a disaster.

There are lending platforms that have rates of 10% for lending out stable coins. Right now, Aave.com has 11% for lending out Tether and 5% for USDC. Contrast this to your bank account accumulating a modest 0.01% interest.

The DeFi market has demonstrated it can provide what the current banking industry provides, providing loans, lending out for high savings, among other financial products, with the main difference being that they can't change up the ToS on you like what they did on Robinhood for the GME short squeeze attempt. When Chainlink's DECO is released, we'll be able to use personal data without revealing it on chain to take advantage of things like credit scores to service undercollateralized loans, a trillion dollar industry. Currently, the loans given out need to be overcollateralized, i.e. you want a $1K loan, you need to provide $1.5K in assets.

More use cases will pop up and be demonstrated as more data is onboarded and readily available. We have Associated Press and Deutsche Telekom's T-Systems running nodes to provide news data and telekom data. You have your head in the sand if you think this is all a nothing burger when this is the next evolution of the internet that will revolutionize business transactions.

For the lazy:

BTC or ETH, choose 1.

For those who want to do some research:

Chainlink - HTTPS/WWW equivalent for blockchain tech, brings and secures data to onboard to the blockchain and deliver from the blockchain to whichever destination it needs to go, blockchains, Web2, etc etc. And it also provides virtually every tool blockchains need but can't do directly onchain, with the biggest tool most notably is a random number function.
GRT - Google of the blockchains. The inverse of Chainlink, in queries data sourced from the blockchain

Really, you should follow Chainlink's hackathon. Look at the other companies sponsoring the event with prizes and pay attention to the winners coming out next month who said prizes because they might try to monetize their projects so you can get in early. I think Axie Infinity was a project that spun out of the hackathon last Spring and they're now a billion dollar blockchain gaming project.

https://youtu.be/ruKhSTFtsro?t=1254

Here's the ceremony, but at the CEO of Chainlink's presentation so you can get an idea of the world the blockchain world is trying to build so you can look for projects that support that vision.

Also, a link to read more on GRT since I'm admittedly not that versed in the subject. However, GRT and Chainlink are the backbones powering DeFi that made the DeFi Summer of 2020 possible.

What exactly makes it a "crisis"? The whole "not every member of the species ends up breeding" thing is hardly exclusive to humans, and quite frankly, we could do with a reduction in our numbers. Some of us ending up not breeding is an excellent way to achieve that with minimal harm... and if it just so happens that incels don't pass on their genetics, well I'm not going to lose any sleep over that.

Society thrives when all its members contribute and are happy .

More importantly, a young man who has no ability to earn a living and raise a family, and is reviled is vulnerable to being radicalized as he has nothing to live for, and zero stake in the future of society. This is recognized in the animal kingdom; males lashing out when they have zero chance of finding a mate. Even ISIS has recruited exploiting this, telling their recruits they'll be guaranteed a wife if they join ISIS.

Luckily, the accessibility and abundance of porn and guys trying to find pseudocompanionship via female twitch streamers is what will provide some peace to society. How long it'll last? I don't know.

That won't ever happen. It'll always be way more expensive to go anywhere in space than anywhere on Earth (assuming you start on Earth). Maybe a trip to the moon could become cheap enough that a non-zillionaire could afford it, but it's not going to be less than a trip to an island.

Let's reframe the question, it cost of a cruise in the Bahamas is about $1500 from a 10 second Google search. Right now it cost 100's of Gs to go to space. Let's make believe it's $150K for a space flight.

Will people still hate Elon when he reduces the price by 1/100th (so $1.5K) to go to space? 1/50th ($3K) to hit the moon?

Guys normally swipe right on every chick. If an incel gets on there, i.e. someone who has given up any chance of getting a girl, he'd either be catfishing with an handsome pic, or would still be swiping right on every girl anyway with his own pic to prove a point that it's impossible to score on Tinder. The fat chick will obviously have her pick and will ignore any below standard dude because of the sheer quantity of choices and the fact that her pool matches her with the cream of the crop males.

And might I remind you guys that this is a social crisis, young males not getting a chance to start a family and basically checking out of society and women not settling and ending up single and a number of times, childless, and priced out of the dating market due to their age. I implore you all to develop some sympathy for these demographics because there's going to be no stopping to this crisis anytime soon.

After hearing all this Netflix controversy, I decided to watch his show this morning. I found him very delightful. I don't get why anybody is offended by this since it's all just play humor. If people find him offensive, then they are just weak.

It's a problem with today's culture and it's why you constantly hear about comedians complaining or getting criticized for their jokes. Today's culture focuses on inclusivity and avoiding offending people when comedians inherently make fun anything in culture. So both that field and the culture will inevitably clash.

You literally control who you follow, so you control what you see.

Would you trust teenagers to be mindful and recognize what content would be unhealthy for them?

I made a deliberate decision to never open a Facebook account back in 2007 since I knew I'd stalk people I know, wanting to know everything they're doing with their lives compared to my stagnant life, and would have everyone seeing insane comments I make (and this board barely tolerates me as it is). For "well adjusted" sociable kids, they're going to go on social media and follow what their friends follow and it'll lead to them feeling pressured to live the life each other is living, whether it's having the looks or having X kind of success or experience, basically keeping up with the Jones. On top of that is the attention people will start craving which is also profitable. It's cycle that will tear into their self-esteem where they'll constantly not feel good enough but still feel incentivized to stay on the platform.

Partially related, but here's a video on Instagram's fraudulent influencers which are influencing kids.

Chainlink, Graph Protocol, or a project that revolves around infrastructure that other projects use that advances space. Preferably on the Ethereum blockchain since that's where the main development space is located.

Granted, you could gamble with shitcoins for easy money, but we're pretty much passed the dotcom boom internet equivalent and now people are developing projects that would upend banks. I mentioned Chainlink and Graph in particular because those were the two projects that were the backbone projects that caused DeFi summer of 2020. You can read more about them below (read every article for Chainlink to get a grasp of its scope).

https://blog.chain.link/category/education/
https://multicoin.capital/2021/07/30/scaling-reads-and-writes/

To get the most out of this tech, you really have to sit down and study the tech. You could get a degree in blockchain research. But the keywords you should be studying is

smartcontracts
oracles
DeFi

NFTs too but I feel people are only paying attention to what's going on right now instead of the road years ahead. If you understood NFTs, you'd know videogames and NFTs are a match made in heaven, along with NFTs allowing you to digitize basically any kind of property.

But if you don't want to put in any effort, like a 401K, Ethereum and Bitcoin, just stick with those. Preferably stick to one and keep accumulating.

A news story might provoke incel violence
No need to worry about that. The abundance of porn makes guys docile enough to give up and seclude themselves from society.

But this dating market is bad for both men and women. Bad for guys because this is yet another factor that considerably diminishes their chances at raising a family and having a stake in society's future. And it's awful for women because a lot of women just don't know how to commit to a single dude (not even talking about casual dating but women are by and large the main divorce initiators) when they have what feels like an eternal fountain of options, until they age and find themselves priced out of the sexual market. While the spotlight is on the male incel population, not enough spotlight is on the rapidly growing population of women in their late 30's and 40's+ who are single and damn near have no chance at finding a life partner. Sex and the City ruined a generation of women.

This is a major societal crisis we're having and it's a shame that people generally lack the sympathy to recognize it as such.

there is a school policy in many, many schools where if a student goes through extreme grief or stress like for example when your room mate dies, you get some leniency.

the students were getting leniency because they were black and the George Floyd thing had just happened.

I dont agree with it, but it was not a new policy nor was it simply because they were black

You didn't read the article or sped read it because the professor addressed the request of it being solely for black students. Should he adhere to solely those denominated as black or include mixed race? Why not include white folks who are from the city in which the incident took place? It's their neighborhood and they would be more directly impacted than a black dude from the Caribbean or an African country by the event as it led to riots that tore apart their hometown.

Also, how can anyone argue that academia is not overcentralized and dominated by leftist ideology? Only in this age can a group of kids convince their school's administration to spend $50K to remove a historical boulder on the account of an article referred to the boulder in a derogatory manner toward black people almost a century ago.

Avatar is the one show you'd have to put special care to the animations to since the bending is inspired by different styles of martial arts. Here, it looks like the animators didn't watched a couple episodes and called it an afternoon.

Everything about this game comes off as cheap so I really couldn't have expected better.
