There also seems to be this assumption ITT that all black people have always loved Chapelle's work and therefore never criticized him. Which is, of course, false because no group of people is a monolith.

It's so amazing how people do this sometimes. It's fine for a large portion of comedians to spend years exclusively dunking on white people, conservatives, rednecks, etc.

But one genius comedian makes jokes about a group you belong to, and suddenly it's "he shouldn't let his personal biases be the center of his comedy"
