Yes, my mother was an abusive alcoholic. But I don't blame the alcohol for her actions...addiction is a terrible thing and we should help people with problems and not stigmatize them. That being said, I don't drink, but also don't believe in taking away the right of people who are capable of self-control. On the same topic, I believe all drugs should be legalized and there's plenty of evidence that this would greatly reduce deaths, both ODs and homicides.

Also, as to my earlier point, alcohol has many uses outside of getting drunk...
