I think it's imperative that you take measures to look after yourself. Make a worst case scenario survival plan - work out how you're gonna leave, where you're gonna go and how you're gonna get support if the worst case scenario happens.

I'm saying this because it's advice I wish I had earlier this year. I ended an 8 year friendship with my best friend because I felt like he stabbed me in the back over a girl. I lost all of my support when I did that, because I accepted that I had to leave, and that cut me off from all my other friends. I was drifting aimlessly and I was the most depressed I'd ever been.

So think about where you're gonna get support, and how your life is going to change - whether there's places you need to avoid from now on, stuff like that. When you have a plan, you have a way forward. It's important.

You don't have to follow my advice, but I'm saying this because I want you to know that despite how shitty and hurtful this is, it's an experience that you're not alone in having and there's ways to cope going forward, even if it doesn't feel that way right now. The most important thing you can do right now is look after yourself emotionally, don't give a fuck about anyone else if that's what you have to do. Focus on you.
