Even when I considered myself a Republican, I didn't like Glenn Beck. Then again, I guess I was probably more left-leaning than I realized, and it wasn't until my social circle (which was mostly conservative) started saying things I found truly abhorrent that I went full Democrat.

Rittenhouse isn't really doing himself any favors by keeping himself in the limelight here. People would've moved on to the next news cycle by now if he'd kept a low profile. Instead, he's drawing more attention and going for the full grift. A lot of right-wingers take that approach, I've noticed. Gotta take your 15 minutes of fame however you can get them, I guess.

People in Virginia are fairly poor, and a lot of them work in industries that don't have very good future prospects (i.e. coal). They reject CRT because the implication that being white is an inherited advantage doesn't make sense in a state that is predominantly white and predominantly poor. Is it really that hard to understand why poor people that are being told they are racist colonizers benefiting from systemic racism reject that claim?

CRT is basically an extension of racism if you look at it from their perspective.

You're confusing Virginia for West Virginia. There are less than 2000 people working in Coal in Virginia. And we are not predominantly poor.

Lee-Jackson day was a thing in Virginia until last year. Northam and the House of Delegates got rid of it . Election day replaced it. Some people still want to go back to Lee-Jackson-King day. (Cause you know, we can't celebrate the history of a black man, without also celebrating two slave owning confederate white men)

Youngkin doing so well is so disappointing, but not surprising. Virginia was still once part of the confederacy, and you can still see confederate flags flying. Youngkin has gone back to the dog-whistles of old, rather than outright racism of Trump. People are comfortable with that. It's why so many people are outraged by "CRT", despite being unable to define what the hell CRT is. It's a dog whistle, and it's effective. Because a lot of the racism in this country is underlying prejudices that we don't want to confront in ourselves. So instead we let them fester and grow. And then we become susceptible to dog whistles, even if we outright reject the obvious racism. And the Subtle racism is just as much of a problem as the overt. But admitting that -- that's the hard part.

I think that the desire to be vindictive (as demonstrated here) is what drives a lot of these mandates and laws requiring vaccination. The vaccine works and is safe, so I'm not arguing against that. But what's the worst case that's going to happen to this lady? She gets COVID and dies? It's not like she's using up a kidney that could be used for someone else anyhow.

She gets COVID, then takes up a spot in the ICU. Someone else, vaccinated, needs the ICU and dies because they can't get a procedure they needed because the ICU was filled.

Thta's EXACTLY what happened to my cousin. She needed a procedure for an issue totally unrelated to COVID. She was vaccinated. They delayed getting her into the ICU because they were full. By the time she was admitted to the ICU 5 days later, it was too late to do the procedure and she died.

It's fair. Yes, there's a private donor so it's not like she's bumping anyone off the list. But after the transplant, she'll have to take immunosuppressants, which will increase her chances of infection.

TUCKER CARLSON: How is it like drunk driving? How do unvaccinated people hurt anybody? Hey, [NJ Gov.] Phil Murphy, got a second? We've got some time. Why don't you explain that to us?

It pisses me off when people say this.

One of my relatives couldn't get into the ICU because of COVID. She was vaccinated. But she had a lung disease (caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis) , and needed treatment. Unfortunately, it was too late. By the time they admitted her to the ICU for treatment, they couldn't give her the treatment anymore. All because a bunch of assholes refused to get vaccinated and ended up taking up space in the ICU. Further, she wasn't able to spend many of her last days with her family because of Covid Restrictions caused by a raise in Covid Cases in the area, caused by people not getting vaccinated. I really hate Tucker Carlson, and wish only terrible things to happen to him for spreading this bullshit.

It's hard for me to feel sorry for people who refuse to get vaccinated, because their actions affect so many other people. Not just through Covid, but how many people have to wait for a room in the ICU for non-covid related reasons because too many people refused to get vaccinated and got covid and took up one of those beds? How many people don't get to spend more time with their loved ones in their last moments because of Covid Restrictions that are necessary because people won't get vaccinated? Just really pisses me off.

I don't think this option should exist, but it's there for anyone who's more scared of needles than a deadly virus!

Don't belittle people who are afraid of needles. I have an extreme fear of needles. So do many of the other people I know. We faced our fears to get the vaccine, but that doesn't make those fears any less real.

The next Saint's row should feature Vampires, Werewolves and Witches. Or Cyborgs. Maybe and Cyborgs. Time Traveling Cyborgs. Maybe built by Ultor to try to regain control of their city. They go back in time to kill the boss before they become the boss. Needless to say it doesn't take.

This. Nobody actually thought he was not a rich person, they thought he was an admirable businessman

Most conservatives I knew, before Trump secured the nomination, thought he was a detestable con-artist who had no idea how to run a business. As soon as he won the nomination, though, they turned around real quick.

because kerry was a flip-flopper

changing your mind about an issue is obviously a cardinal sin

It wasn't flip flopping that did Kerry in. It was "Swift Boat" and his lack of charisma. Flip Flopping was just the cherry on top of everything. "I voted for it, before I voted against it." You can't say stuff like that and get by with it unless you have a cult of personality like Donald Trump does. And John Kerry is about the furthest from that as you can get.
