What are your thoughts on this? How much time do YOU get?

I personally get an hour break and I love it, although if I ever get it cut down to 30 minutes or so I'd understand. Less than that is just cruel.

I have an 8 month baby, I'll stick with him for as long as I can.

The government has more capacity to help people than some random liberal who may be swamped with work, disabled, or whatever else that prevents them from doing charitable things. Sometimes just keeping yourself afloat is difficult.

I will refrain from commenting on this being a left wing thing because pointing out commonalities between the rival factions is usually dismissed on CE as bOtH sIdEs.

So with regard to the noisy progressives, it does seem like the loudest online are usually contributing nothing of value to the real world (so far as improving society is concerned at least; Im sure theyre good friends and good parents). At least the ones I know personally. They have no idea how change works, so they fancy themselves activists for arguing online and not shopping at conservative business. This is not activism, of course, but they do it because it feels good and it requires no sacrifice. The same could be said of the tip jar warriors. Theyll chide others for not tipping enough, but they wont put forth the effort required to make meaningful change, like requiring employers to pay a full salary. Why? Because its easier to throw extra money at a problem than it is to organize in the real world, which requires time and effort that most people would rather spend on personal enjoyment. Anything than an occasional trip to the ballot box is too much work. I dont blame them though. Its very easy to feel insignificant and helpless. Many people want to do something to help, but they dont know what to do.

But thats not the whole story and maybe shouldnt be your focus. For all the sententious ones online, there are plenty out there working together to achieve a common goal.

And yes, I do tend to be provocative and generalize to get responses at first, sue me. I personally despise the not-so-small group of people I'm referring to ITT because it gives real progressive people who want to improve the world a bad rep. I see some people here who got really upset at the notion of actually having to show you care.
