| Megaman50100 02/09/22 7:23:36 PM #41 | The twist at the end of 2 is what pushed me over from 2 being a cringe game with complex and (mostly) fun gameplay, ultimately disappointing and jarring but safely establishing its own thing, into something actively retconning and undermining a previously self contained title and the philosophy of it's antagonist and creation story. Like yes, XC2's tone is extremely cringe and painful as it diminishes the impact of its own story-telling at almost every turn. Which is goofy and of course a downside when it comes to character writing, but none of that bothered me as much as --- move all remaining groundhog mercenaries to the front lines. When the trailer first started I thought my hopes of them moving on to a new Xeno IP and leaving the original Xenoblade Chronicles in peace after the remake were being realized. Worth the investment?I really like having a copy as a curio. Mainly as a rare video game history thing. The book itself is pretty good, way more serious and horrific than the video game's sci-fi fun. The author is a pharmacologist that cites his real sources when he is grounded in reality and isn't advancing the sci-fantasy elements of the plot. I read it about a decade ago when I was just out of highschool and for the last few segments of the book I was living the 'WTF AM I READING" Ronald Mcdonald meme. I got a wacom intous4 graphics drawing tablet my first or second year into college and it made a huge difference in opening up the world of painting without all the extra work of getting canvas, paints, caring for brushes, etc. So much easier to get in there and crank out hours of work on the painting itself.
