Good question; I honestly can't even remember anymore.

There is a decent chance that it was Perfect Dark, considering that I used that game to generate my username (the "027" is the player character's agent number). If it wasn't that; it was very likely something else on the N64.

I don't care about names.

For that matter, I got married in an area where it's actually not allowed for one spouse to inherit the other's surname upon marrying. Name changes are only done if it can be shown that a name causes sufficient "distress" in some way, like if someone is transitioning. Not sure about if your parents named you Adolf.

Why would it be? If anything, there's more potential red flags for having to rely on a present-decade car.

If you're willing to shell out that much money for cars you don't need, how much money do you have for other things? Are people supposed to take such poor care of their vehicles that they don't last past ten years? etc

Im gonna call a spade for a spade here. You demand that other people get vaccinated so you can feel more protected from a pathogen that has a 1% chance of killing you anyway.

Haha, no, I'm jabbed. Nice assumption there.

But I'm still having to deal with things like business closings, travel restrictions, curfews, and other fun stuff that don't care if you're vaccinated or not. I also have medical conditions, and there's a real fear of mine that if I end up needing hospitalization for any of it, I'm going to be put on a backburner because of covidiots flooding the place.

It's been two years of all this, and I'm tired of it. I'm especially tired of being expected to care about people that clearly don't care about anyone else.

Also, just so we're clear, thinking people who decide to forego professional medical advice of getting the vaccine should have to live with their choice instead of clogging up the healthcare system =/= thinking they should get the "death penalty", as you keep putting it. This is not a death penalty; nobody's executing these people. They're dying of their own poor choices.

Because I'm not out there contributing to a pandemic that's been going on two years now and making nearly all of our lives more inconvenient and dangerous in some way or another, and they are?

I think covid and the vaccinations coming along is setting up a new dangerous precedent that people like Howard Sterns and a handful of people from Gamefaq's politics board are supporting.

It really isn't. The only reason you think it is is because you're setting up a false equivalence.

For one thing, as many people pointed out in this thread already, obesity and skiing accidents are not contagious.

I appreciate Covid is a fairly unique situation so should sit outside the norm but it does potentially open up the doors to conversations about denying hospital care for other people where there injuries are deemed "self inflicted".

Have to go to hospital because you are obese? Too bad you should lose weight. Have to go to hospital because you broke you leg skiing? Too bad you should have done something less dangerous! Self harm? Alcoholism? Drug addicts? Where will people draw the line?

Nah, it really doesn't. When these fat/skier/whatever people are hitting up the hospitals in such droves that they literally can't take them all in (or can only do so by turning others away), then we'll entertain this "conversation". Until then, this is just a pointless slippery slope argument.

It is subjective and you might be one of the people who do think animals are worth more or are equal to humans. If so Im not going to try and change your mind. Ive had pets and cried when they passed more than when some humans I know have died.

And yeah sure people will probably be more willing to euthanise animals than humans for various reasons. Dont doubt that. But I think the option should be there in specific cases. We already have end of life pathways for cancer patients at the very least this should be expanded to other terminal illnesses.

Nah, I'm not, but I do know my fair share of people for whom that would be true.

But yeah, I agree that humans should have more "end of life" agency than they tend to have.

Not sure why that is surprising.
You'd need to enlighten me then, because I sure don't get it. Are you suggesting that it's because animals are generally seen as more expendable?

I imagine if human euthanasia were allowed in the US people would use it.
I think even if it were "allowed" there'd still be way more people hesitant to euthanize a human compared to an animal/pet.

Putting aside covid, I don't understand how loved ones can look at someone that can get to a condition like this where they're basically a vegetable that can't move or do anything and then do everything to keep them alive even as they're suffering. My grandma had declining health the last few years of her life but towards the end after she had suffered another stroke she was basically a shell of a person. She couldn't remember anything and needed people watching her 24 hours a day to feed and bathe her. Even during that time a few of my uncles and aunts wanted to do everything they could to prolong her life by giving her different painkillers and medicines even though she was clearly suffering from so much pain. It just seems selfish to me to keep them alive if they're gonna be hooked up to several machines or needing a cocktail of drugs just to make them comfortable.

Somewhat of an aside, but I've always found it very odd/confusing how people tend to be like this with regard to other people, but typically not so when it comes to animals and pets. People are more generally willing to recognize when it's "time" to put an animal down to put an earlier end to its suffering, even if it's still something difficult for us to do/accept.

It seems to indicate that we have a harder time letting go of other fellow humans than we do with non-humans, even when they're both classified as loved ones or even family. Not sure what that really says about us, though.

proclaim yourself to be the Vaccine Police.

I've made no such proclamation; only you have.

I'm just saying that if someone is unwilling to admit that they've had it, it's practically guaranteed to be because a) they haven't had it, and b) they simply don't want to either admit to or lie about it, and I'm going to regard them appropriately as I see fit. If you think I'm wrong about this, by all means -- please tell me your explanation of what you think is the more likely scenario.

Again, if you don't like that, there's a simple solution. If you don't like my solution... tough. Maybe we should be re-evaluating who's really the thin-skinned one here.

Neither of those things are surprising to me.

I wish I could still get excited about Pokemon. Haven't been happy with the games since BW2.

Same, pretty much. I thought X and Y looked very pretty (going purely by aesthetics, gen 6 is still my favorite), but they still didn't have as much postgame content as I'd have liked.

What is the difference between going into the box menu to switch mons in/out of your party and going into another menu to turn off Exp Share?

Because some people actually like having a proper team of Pokemon and potential backups to fall on in battle? Are you being obtuse on purpose?

Why the hell would you turn xp share off permanently? You're turning a 20 hour charming kid's game into a 60+ hour slog.

If that's what people want to do, why shouldn't they be allowed to? Particularly considering gen 6 provided that option?

I don't understand the appeal behind Nuzlockes and other sorts of similar self-imposed challenges, but the fact remains that they are popular ways of playing the game.

I for example have seen the ones who had the vaccine go maskless or ignore social distancing as they say it no longer matters, so just because someone hasn't had the vaccine doesn't mean they haven't taken other measures.

In my experience, people who haven't had it are far less likely to be taking those other measures.

Basically.

Those who are vaccinated are concerned with the safety and well being of themselves and others. Everyone I've encountered at work (when checking their vaccination status) are happy to tell you they're vaccinated.

Those who don't want to show their status or are hesitant will almost always likely not be vaccinated. They don't give a **** about others and it shows.

Yep, bingo.
