Some pals of mine raised my awareness of this game.

I'll be giving it a whirl, quite literally too since I plan to roll a Berserker. Big sword go brrrrr.

I've fallen into a Xianxia rabbit hole these last few years, and the average one of them has more chapters than books have pages, so length is certainly no barrier to entry for me.

I've heard of Infinite Jest, even thought about giving it a whirl at some point, but never took the plunge. It seemed like a flavor-of-the-month obsession regardless of how good it might actually have been.

Starting to poke a bit at Inscryption. Dunno if I'll go through the effort of a playthrough topic, but my initial impressions are mixed. I don't really go for horror aesthetic, but this is all tastefully done as far as I can tell. The card game seems basic and weighted against the player, though assuredly by design...there are certainly layers to uncover here. Really, not knowing the breadth or depth of it, I can't pass judgement, though I can say I am not a huge fan of sacrifice mechanics in card games, which seems to be central to this one.

Perhaps in time I will adjust to it...particularly since there's kind of a meta-game element to all of it. I'm already looking at ways to break the mold a bit. Like the very first choice when the guy's like 'hey, play this squirrel', I think 'what if i click everywhere else multiple times to try and annoy this person?'. Or 'oh man, this bear is gonna keep attacking me, but what if I just block with a squirrel every turn?' The answer is, unsurprisingly, you run out of squirrels and you die.

All in all, it is enjoyable so far. I'm left wondering what the heck is up with the Stoat, as well as the accessibility of literally anything else around the cabin.

Gifts have been sent and received on my end. I got Neir: Automata and Outer Wilds, both highly desired on my end.

Neir is one I've been wanting forever, but only recently got a computer that I felt would give it the smooth play experience I know it deserves. More polygons than OoT and all that *cough*. Still, I hear this one has a lot of replay value, and I've largely managed to avoid spoilers, so it should be a grand time.

I almost convinced myself to skip out on Outer Wilds despite all the ravings it has gotten. I was deeply concerned about the enjoyment of the looping experience, but then I watched some gameplay and saw how easy/quick it was to navigate the solar system. Combining that with the way the game keeps track of puzzle progress, and my concerns were greatly diminished.

Of these options, only Mickey and Santa can really compete. Until Disney buys Christmas and we all start celebrating Happy Mouse Day, Santa will probably continue to hold an edge.

Thanks to Super Eyepatch Wolf's latest vid, I am wondering where Garfield will rank among these options. 2nd? 3rd?

Hybrid is what I currently use. Some densely packed individual coils with foam layers on top. Added an inch of latex as well.

Got it locally from a mattress place going out of business for a price well under what I'd normally pay for the quality I got. Still going strong years later, though at least that much is to be expected.

Still, it wasn't without a solid chunk of research done on my end...certain bed types are better for certain body types/sleep positions/hot-or-cold preferences. Others are just bad in general...like water beds, which aside from general upkeep issues, just don't offer the kind of support you want.

Ideally, the ground would be the way to go, but a lifetime of seeking sleep comfort has made that all but impossible for me.

Killing them so fast would give them an easy out from the world. No, I propose we do something extra mean to them. Lock them away in a small area where they have no meaningful comfort and have little but their own thoughts to keep them company. They'll spend years coming to grips with the consequences of their actions. They might still be fine with it all, but it won't matter because they're locked away from society. As an extra bonus, they can be made to do things like clean up highway litter or make cheap consumer goods at a rate that would make even the Chinese blush.

Finally, after decades of being denied a means of egress from the situation they have landed themselves in, natural causes will inevitably occur. They will thusly pass on, problem solved, no messing about with expensive injections or messy dull axes or giving lions a taste for human flesh.

Truly, old age is the only way to go if you want to maximize their suffering!

The result is indeterminate, as these animals might be on Earth, or might be deep in the gravity well of Jupiter. There is no way to know for certain.

Thankfully, the kilogram was redefined a few years ago, so even if the international prototype kilogram were stolen, we would still be able to determine exactly how much a kilogram is, so we can eliminate that as a potentially conflicting variable.

Although, you'll still need some pretty advanced alchemy to merge these three things all together.

I'm only a few episodes in, but I'm getting some strong Kaiji vibes from the series. Deadbeat loser of a guy with gambling addiction falls prey to nebulous underground organization running crazy gambles modeled after simple games? That's both the series in a nutshell.

Though, Squid Game seems to be going for more shock value and emotional punch than the psychological desperation that permeates Kaiji.

I bet if you like one, you'll like the other, so if you want to scratch more high-stakes gambling iches, I can heartily recommend Kaiji.

Finally got around to viewing the last what if episode.

As something of a connoisseur in high powered characters fighting, this battle was lacking. Competently choreographed for sure, but the multiversal threat just wasnt there. "I can destroy galaxies with a thought" followed by a pummeling by fancy action gymnasts. Come on. I get that they were turbo shielded, but I bet they'd have had a harder time doing anything if the multiversal threat capable of ending all of the everything...blew up the planet/the sun.

Not that I'm going to hold that against the episode...there's only so much you can realistically expect to be accomplished in the allotted time, and Marvel displayed some fantastic efficiency getting this much done. That said, I liked it, and will enjoy seeing where the next half goes.

If the premise is valid, it is probably do to the limitations and expectations from the phone gaming market. People expect quick little diversions on their phone and development skews towards that. There are also a lot of computations that would go on under the hood that would demand a certain level of power to realize. To say nothing of managing all of it with a touch screen interface.

Honestly, I'd say the market is the biggest limiting factor here...if the demand were high, a way would be found to make it happen.
