I don't think I'd ever want a watch from either of those two brands. Rolex is too played out and old money to me, and every time I see Omega I think James Bond.

It doesn't have quite the cachet of those two, but I've taken a recent liking to Breitling. I picked up a Superocean 44 the other day and it looks/feels great.

I'm looking at reporting from Counterpoint Research about data from last month and it has the regular iPhone 13 at 51% of sales, the 13 PM with 23%, the regular Pro at 21% and the mini at 5%. Go to any Apple store and they'll have all these phones laid out. People just don't buy smaller phones no matter how loudly we proclaim that they're needed.

My wife has a 13 PM and you couldn't pay her to take a mini.

You just said it - it's a luxury which is always about excess. No one uses their phone to its full capability but we like knowing these options or features are there should we need it. And again, if you're paying $1000+ for these, then you want everything.

The funny thing about small phones is that everyone on the Internet says that the OEMs should make them, but the buying public prefers larger devices.

Anecdotally, I don't think I've ever seen an iPhone 12/13 mini in the wild. Sales say that end users want the big bad Pros/Pro Maxes of the world.

I say go big or go home.

Part of the reason why I prefer larger devices is because they simply have the real estate for larger batteries, displays, and cameras. If I'm going to be spending flagship money, then I want the flagship experience.

Pixels used to have the best cameras but they sat on their ass for far too long on the same hardware that everyone caught up and surpassed them. They also prided themselves on software, but other OEMs caught up there too. Even on software updates, Samsung has been on a tear these last few years by issuing the monthly security patches even before Google.

All of this to say, I don't know what the hell the point is now to get a Pixel.

My launch edition Note 20 Ultra runs great on Android 12/One UI 4. I'm sure the 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM has a lot to do with that.

My wife has an iPhone 13 Pro Max and this Note runs alongside it.

My new Breitling Superocean 44 came in a few days ago so I've been wearing that.

It sits nice on my wrist (7 inches) and the dial/bezel are in a beautiful blue (any diver in blue will catch my attention). I think it's impressive that watch is good for depths up to 1000m (3300ft) yet it's only 14.2 mm thick. As with all Breitlings, it's a certified chronometer so it's got proven accuracy and reliability.

Looks like they also upped the amount of Android OS updates to 4 generations starting from the S21 lineup. So the S22s will be eligible for Android 16 (DBZ!) whenever that comes out.

Do Apple Watches still look like nerdy square shaped calculator watches? Apple is normally so good at making sleek products. I still can't understand why Android watches came up with the circular design first. It's baffling.

The round design of Android watches makes them easier to masquerade as a classic watch. Some of the ones from Samsung even have a mechanical rotating bezel like a diver. Put on a nice leather band with an appropriate watchface and you can rock a proper suit with it.

It's got a solid caseback. Not sure which style I prefer between the two, but I guess a solid caseback makes more sense for a true diver since a clear one might be less durable.

Still teetering over the SuperOcean. I might pay a visit sometime this week to my nearest AD or the Breitling boutique in DC. I just know as soon as I handle it, I'll be sold.

Appreciate the Note-inspired design of the S22 Ultra.

Still looks too similar to my Note 20 Ultra so I'll hold onto this for another year. These Notes are always well ahead of their time when they're released.

This constant whining is why I really can't place KD up there with the all time greats. As great as he is on the court, he's allergic to leadership.

I'd rather KD use his time to get his team back in championship contention (I think they've now lost their last 7 straight games heading into today's game with Denver) as opposed to clapping back at media figures.

We get that he's injured, but this is his own damn team. Lead it and stop crying all the time.

And yes, if Golden State ends up winning and KD remains in the ****show that is the Nets, it does indeed look bad for him.

Where do you live that you see them all the time? I've literally never seen anyone use one.

But that's it though - a lot of people don't actually "use" their smartwatch because much of what they do is automated.

I have a Galaxy Watch and it's something that for the most part you set and forget. Health/sleep monitoring, exercise tracking, calls and texts, fall detection, and even pressure alerts are all mostly passive features that don't necessarily require you to do anything. I can place a call on my watch or actively text from it independent of my phone, but I'll only do that in a pinch.

There are like 7 workouts I can do that the watch will automatically track and document without me needing to do anything. Those are the kinds of features that I love.

Yeah, I don't know any woman who only wears the band. You'll usually see the engagement ring - some folks even have both the band and the engagement ring fused together.

My wife basically picked out the ring she wanted - cushion cut diamond solitaire on a yellow gold setting (prongs are platinum I believe). Basically everything about it was custom (as are our wedding bands). Total cost of her engagement ring was $13,100.

Engagement ring is the one you get for the proposal, but then you ultimately need to buy 2 additional rings - the wedding bands for him and her that you will don at the wedding.
