diablo 3 definitely has a much better ui, better controls, and is overall much more smoother feeling.

it's to be expected, given that diablo 2 came out 21 years ago, but it very much is a game from 2000. it just does not feel good, or even work very good, compared to todays standards.

Well lets see. D3 felt like WoW combined with Diablo and not the good World of Warcraft either.
personalized loot is a joke to me. I know it pisses people off when people take loot they want but I like the free for all nature. Skill trees is another aspect I enjoyed in Diablo 2. Diablo 3 had a weird perk system that you could change whenever. Atleast in Diablo 2 you had only a few respecs and had to earn the rest.
a part from the ambience and randomness of Diablo 2 I enjoy what many find tedious about it.

to say Diablo 3 is objectively better than Diablo 2 is like saying Classic wow is worse objectively than retail.

they are just different games. If you want more Diablo 3 look to Diablo 4 which will supposedly take inspiration from both.

Sure it was amazing for its time, but there are 100 aspects of it beyond the graphics that have aged poorly which they don't seem interested in improving. Believe it or not, games continued to advance more than in just graphical fidelity over the last 20 years.
