Obviously it's nowhere near over. Like I originally said, it's probably going be a 5-10 year push before things get back to normal.

Out of the listed options, a fork seems the most practical. It can puncture (like a knife), scoop (like a spoon), cut (with less difficulty than a spoon, but less reliably than a knife), and carry. The only area you completely lose out on is scooping liquids.

Granted, knives can kinda scoop and carry, but balance is more of an issue.

Again, none of the claims add up, and the initial round of experts had zero luck. Considering the cops didn't want to investigate the case in the first place and the furor it raised -- since they had to discourage protestors from being near the house -- it definitely looks like they're just trying to close the case without asking many questions, which is the SAME approach from when they failed to investigate the initial disappearance.

Considering the family tried to cover up the crime -- and, by the way, was never charged with anything -- and then just "happened" to find the body in a place searched many times already, something feels fishy. And it's not fish because canines were eating the bones, not fish.

If there was a body, it would be. However, there wasn't even an intact skull. The dental match was apparently made against loose teeth. Offhand, I can't even remember if any of the teeth were even secured to the skull, but they had to reconstruct the skull

If you read Ducky's post at the start of this topic, it covers the fact the skeleton was mostly raided by scavengers, although he doesn't go into as much detail.

Anyway, after an extensive search through the area -- which also has hikers going through there on a regular basis -- Brian's parents just so happen to find Brian's stuff near a collection of loose bones, which they bring authorities to.

And those remains were in such bad condition that the first two experts ruled it inconclusive. At this point, it seems pretty clear they rushed shit just to close the books on this case, and mostly to save face because this investigation went nowhere before social media influencers got involved. The cops were content to just leave it as a missing persons case.

Again, who found the remains? And those remains were found AFTER the area was already searched and you had hikers in the area, yet they're claiming he was dead and there all along. That shit doesn't add up. However, we know that the family had initially covered for him -- you know, the same family who just happened to find the remains.

And considering the number of people who have faked their deaths only to turn up years later, it's hardly implausible, especially given what we know about the dirtbag family.

...meaning that the only thing to really ID him was his belongings, which he could have left along with somebody else's corpse, possibly even another one of his victims because I wouldn't be surprised if a guy like this had killed before. I'm not sure how familiar you are with adulting, but most people don't buy tuxes, they tend to rent them afaik. Like a wedding dress, there aren't many occasions to wear a tux. And keep in mind if you're a groomsman (the other big time you'd wear a tux outside of your own wedding), it usually needs to match the other groomsmen so you're not even getting a second use there.

Know what's ALSO good for most formal events you're likely to attend? The normal business suit you wear to interviews and (depending on your profession) the office. Know what you don't wear to interviews and the office (unless you're playing a weird prank)? A tux.

Although a lot of people don't even go that far, and just use a blazer that matches a nice pair of slacks (or if it's a more casual gathering, one that offsets it in an stylish way).

Considering all of the video game industry's scandals, I think the less we know about companies, the better.

You're clearly lying since everybody knew about AAAL, which is a 10+ year-old account. Beyond that, if I set something up over a decade ago and haven't used it, it's understandable for me to not remember them. 2007 was a year I made a few alts because I got hit for being on the same network as somebody who was banned for something, after which I made AAAL and used that for years while on networks I didn't trust.

It's possible I have other accounts connected to old email addresses, but I'd first have to remember the email address.

Except no, it isn't, because if it was, I wouldn't have such a hassle with it. I've had MAYBE a grand total of fifteen alts over the years, and I doubt any more than twenty (although I made a few new ones now). And the few I have I can never remember which email accounts they're connected to, and most I forgot about.

Even AAAL I'm not sure which email it's connected to, and was only able to access it for a few minutes on my old laptop before it crashed.

Helly has probably had upwards of 700 alts now, and I'm not counting the ones I suspected may have been his alts, like the 50 accounts that kept spamming me that one time (which I thought was a CE-er because they'd also been doing it)

Technically in many places you don't even need an apartment/home to live, and living out of your car/van is becoming more and more common in some places, but yeah a livable wage should be based on the cost of "living" in an area, including a 1 bedroom apartment, utilities, insurance,internet (mandatory at this point),transportation costs and food.

But that's not actually the cost of living in an area. You don't need a single-occupancy apartment, that's a luxury. And housing is generally the largest single expense. If you control your housing expenses, you can live in most places.

A lot of people (me included) felt like the new seasons weren't anywhere near as good as the original ones (especially the stand-alone movies, which were bleh), and bringing it back kind of ruined what was essentially a perfect series finale. None of the new episodes really did much to justify the revival, and a lot of episodes felt like they were just retreading old ground.

After the standalone films, I had zero interest in the reboot which I still haven't watched.

Removing trucks that are involved in literal terrorist attacks generally isn't going to hurt their ability to be hired by anyone except whichever operator owns the truck in question, who should really be in jail for being a terrorist and therefore isn't exactly commercially significant.

California: earthquakes and wildfires. Florida: hurricanes and tornadoes. Hurricane Irma was a cat. 1 hurricane when it suddenly changed course and passed right over me. Aside from plant debris all over the neighborhood and a few downed trees, everything was fine for the most part. Some businesses had damaged signs. Just live somewhere away from the bulk of hurricane strikes and if it's only category 1, prep and hunker down.

ngl, I've lived in both states for several years and California heat (hell, Arizona heat) is much better than Florida heat. There's a reason the southwest US is my favorite part of this country (largely climate and geography). What gets me is people always look at raw temperatures and say how awful the western deserts must be. Like, I've been on hikes in California and Arizona when the temperatures were 120 and 113, respectively, and while unpleasant when that high, Florida's still worse.

I've always preferred humid heat to dry heat, tbh.

Yes, the easy reaction is: "OMG we're encouraging people to use drugs".

The point is:
1) We're paying a large medical for treating drug overdoses. Whether conservatives want to pretend it's not happening or not we're all paying for the treatment of these people in the hospital because they aren't turned away: the costs for those not covered by insurance are added to the costs of doing business, those are passed to insurers...and then us. Furthermore, they use up beds that could be devoted to others (particularly in a pandemic).
2) We're paying a large prison bill for locking all of these people up, feeding them, etc.
3) We're paying a large societal cost because of crime linked to drug abuse.
Etc etc.

I would hope that this is an example of engaging with the problem and trying to solve it, rather than pretending that by simply opposing it (declaring war on it) every step of the way we're going to get a good result. Declaring war on countries and occupying them is a great way to make the people there not like us and drift towards viewpoints we dislike. Declaring war on drugs is a great way to lose connections with drug users and push them into the arms of criminals who happily profit from them. Neither "war" is effective at achieving the goal we say we want to achieve: it just satisfies a simplistic "we're fighting bad guys" need that many have.

But again: is the program in the article going to do more harm than good? I don't know. I seriously doubt that those complaining have thought it through either.

Or, you know, you could try doing something productive like putting people through rehab. Just a thought there, buddy.
