By roleplaying, yes that refers to the character building, but it also refers to your choices in questing. Morrowind gives you a lot more choices in its quests, it's much closer to Fallout New Vegas if you've played that, than it is Skyrim.

The "better music/art" etc etc is all completely subjjective. It is nice that Skyrim hs a much larger volume of music, but that doesn't make its music automatically better, and their soundtracks aren't competing anyway, they accompany each other and Skyrim's builds off Morrowind's.

You're right about the combat.... that's it.

If that's your response to my comment, I can tell you didn't actually read the whole thing about roleplaying. Skyrim does have character building (the perk trees) and you can roleplay if you want to through dialog choices, plot choices, combat preferences, race selection, etc. But it doesn't force you to do do, so for those of us who just want to fuck around in a sandbox without the game forcing us to choose a specific play style at the beginning, we can. What Skyrim did was remove unnecessary complexity from the system, especially for new players.

And for the record I consider New Vegas the weakest 3D Fallout (though still a very solid game), for its relatively uninteresting world, so comparing Morrowind to that isn't doing you any favors.

If there's one thing that boggles my mind it's how some people still insist Morrowind is a better game than Skyrim is.

Was Morrowind more innovative keeping in mind when it came out? Sure.
Is Morrowind a better game than Skyrim head-to-head? Hell no.

Most of the complaints I hear come down to roleplaying, but get this--Skyrim still lets you roleplay if you want to. It doesn't shove roleplaying down your throat though, which apparently enrages Morrowind fans. In pretty much every other way Skyrim is the better game--superior combat, better world, better music, better atmosphere, etc.

(And yes, I'm aware that both Morrowind and Oblivion do have mods to fix a lot of the bullshit, but out of the box it's pretty hard to argue Skyrim isn't better than Morrowind.)

As to the OP, I think the basic answer was that Dumbledore was a bad headmaster because to him the school and everyone in it were simply a playing piece in the war against Voldemort. Dumbledore makes clear several times that, once Voldemort rises to power, his only concern is defeating him. He strongly implies that he left Harry with the Dursleys and does little to stop them from abusing him because he wanted to make sure Harry was humble enough to be willing to sacrifice himself later on. Similarly, he left Snape on the school's staff as a trade for Snape's "services," which he desperately needed. Trelawny, meanwhile, was hired for her personal protection and also to prevent Voldemort from tracking down the entire prophesy.

Regarding dropping Harry on the doorstep...no reason is given in the books, but I think we can safely guess that Dumbledore left Harry on the doorstep because of the Dursleys' fear of wizards and hatred of the Potters. It's implied throughout that hardly any wizards are able to truly blend into Muggle society (Kingsley could but it sounds like Dumbledore hadn't recruited him at the time of Harry's parents dying), so even sending someone else wouldn't have worked, and Dumbledore was just too blatantly Merlin-like to do it himself, so they left him on the doorstep and apparently posted Figg in the neighborhood to keep an eye on the situation. I don't agree with the decision, but I think the logic is there at least.

There were a bunch of other reasons in the OP that are bullshit for reasons @JE19426 mentioned, so I won't go into those.

Really, Dumbledore reminds me of DiMA from Fallout 4's Far Harbor--well-intentioned, but considers everyone else a pawn in a larger game at the end of the day.

Actually, there is a math class, arithmancy. It doesn't sound like math as we know it, but still. Science was likely covered in Muggle Studies and frankly isn't very useful for most wizards since they can break most physical laws anyway. Also it seems like most of them sent their kids to primary school because you can tell they know basic arithmetic, reading, writing, and geography at the very least, though whether wizard kids go to Muggle schools or special wizarding primary schools isn't explained in the books.
