Having said that they physically and mentally aren't yet adults and so it is rape. Anyone who thinks adults should be having sex with 13 year olds needs to voluntarily lock themselves up.

Depends on the country you live in, not okay to have sex at the age of 13 is not universal. I know people who had sex when they were 12 years old. Chris Brown said he lost his virginity when he was 8 years old. Things happen, despite the laws, some laws can't control human behavior. It's not a black and white issue because many people had sex before the age of 16.

Could it be the laws are not up with the times or it's not coinciding with reality?

My stance is that man (who was 26 at that time) shouldn't have been criminalized because she reported the issue 4 years later when she was 19. Yes she was 15 when they had sex, but she agreed to have sex with him.

Now if she tried to fend him off and he forced himself onto her, okay I agree that is rape, but she only reported the issue because she felt "bad about it" so she agreed to have sex with him, it was consensual. That's my stance on it, I don't want to talk about it further.

The purpose of governmemnt is to protect rights your life and property, that's really it. The government is not suppose to educate kids through compulsory laws, provide health care, protect endangered species. The governmet is not suppose to setup a retirement fund for the eldery (social security), regulate how cars shold be made.

Why not. Why shouldn't the government carry some involvement in the economy? For example, without an authoritative body there's literally no solution to negative externalities in markets. Capitalism means that capital is owned privately, it doesn't mean that there can be no rules settings the bounds of business.

But that is not pure capitalism since the entrepreneur doesn't have full control of their business or retain all their profits.

The authoritative body in an economy is not the govenrment, it's the market.

It's not meaningless, it's heavy government involvement in the economy through minimum wage laws, subsidies, payroll taxes, government loans, regulations on automobiles, the environment, and even technology. Those are not suppose to be a function of government and under real capitalism and all laws would be repealed.

It's bizarre how fantasistical and out of touch CE is when it comes to this subject. But a lot of the users here make under $29K a year and still live at home, so I guess it makes sense. Rent is unfairly high though, I agree on that part of the subject.

There shouldn't be a minimum wage/any government welfare/rent control/public housing and prices for rent as well as everything else would go down, and there would be job opportunities for anybody. The economic system we have is not good as you see right now. You have interest rates at 0%, the federal reserve monetizing the debt to fund our domestic welfare and our military empire. The result is inflation that is incredibly high, probably the worse in US history.

People don't care about big government, but as government grows, the more it makes us poorer. And it's an economic system that benefits the rich and well to do, that's the irony. And our educational system, just abolish the damn thing.
