Sonic the Hedgehog and Betrayal

Story:

Sonic the Hedgehog was always a popular video game. Since its release in 1991, it has sold over 60 million copies. Its popularity led to a new game series, Sonic Adventure, and a new movie in 2006. However, on July 6,2006, Sonic the Hedgehog was betrayed by Dr. Eggman. Eggman took Sonic's life, and left him in a coma.

I would throw in my recommendation for Death's Gambit as well. Interesting game, looks like there may be another update still coming due to a boss missing in the boss list. Music is god-like. Graphics are good. My only complaint is that the class you choose doesn't really matter much. The abilities you get in game are very incremental in terms of progression (increasin damage/defense) so no class really stands out. Most things you might see on youtube regarding builds are for the old version of the game and thus no longer applicable, or based on glitches that are quickly patched out when discovered.

Another game to consider in Pronty. I haven't played it yet, but it looks good. Almost like Hollow Knight, just underwater.

What does sterilizing immunity mean and can we have vaccines that does that?
It just means vaccines that protect a person from infection and spread of a particular virus nearly perfectly, if not completely perfectly. As far as I am aware, most vaccines aren't quite that effective. But, it doesn't have to be perfect, just better than the current generation of vaccines are doing.

I haven't fully read the OP, but I am just posting to reinforce the increasing awareness that the vaccines are starting to show weakness in their ability to limit infection and spread. There are other studies that show waning protection from the vaccine as well, just months after vaccination. These vaccines do not produce sterilizing immunity, so they are not an answer to the pandemic itself. At least, not this generation of vaccines. Hopefully, this technology will improve and we will get better ones, or new therapudic methods will be developed to help manage symptoms and prevent morbidity. As things stand, the vaccines are still useful for a few reasons though:

  • They limit severe covid symptoms and morbidity for oneself.
  • They also help keep people out of hospital, which protects health care staff and keeps beds open for others in need of them.

Yeah, but he is also right. At scale, even small efforts could have huge payoffs. Viral spread is an exponential function. The effect of stopping even one infection has a knock on effect that benefits more people in the long run. There likely won't be a simple, easy answer to this pandemic. It will require absolutely every asset we have available and we should make every effort to use everything we have.

Do you have a link to the barely makes a difference after a few months' study?
Perhaps I am being a bit too strong in my wording, after all, a single study is just one perspective. That being said, the data seems reliable.

https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7038e3.htm?s_cid=mm7038e3_w

This data was collected from a prison that experienced a covid outbreak. The prison is a great setting in my opinion because of how tightly controlled the experimental circumstances were. It would not be possible or even ethical to carry out an experiment like this on the general population. Also, since it is a prison, other virus mitigation strategies like social distancing are difficult to implement, which allows for the efficacy of the vaccines to be tested in the most strenuous circumstances with limited confounding variables. It really lets you see just how effective the vaccines really are. Of course, that also means that the results are pretty extreme and in most casual settings, spread would not be quite as severe. I will briefly summarize the relevent findings below:

Infection Rate Unvaccinated [39 out of 42 people]: 93%
Infection Rate Vaccinated (Overall) [129 out of 185 people]: 70%
Infection Rate Vaccinated (2 weeks to 2 months prior to outbreak) [19 out of 31 people]: 61%
Infection Rate Vaccinated (4 months or more prior to outbreak) [83 out of 93 people]: 89%

As you can see, the difference between unvaccinated and vaccinated (more than 4 months prior) is only 4%. Basically nothing. Obviously, as time continues to pass, it will likely decrease further. Also, it should be noted that the majority of the prison was vaccinated (79%) and the outbreak still happened.

A few caveats though:
-Older people got vaccinated first, and they disproportionately represent the >4 months prior group.
-Older people handle the virus worse and have weaker immune systems.
-The >4 months prior group was exclusively vaccinated with Pfizer.
-Pfizer has shown inferior results in recent studies on the vaccines.
-Apparently, the positive tests were not selected randomly, making the results less representative.
-The sample size could certainly be larger.

Not really. More and more evidence is coming out suggesting that the vaccines are only partially effective at preventing spread and infection of the virus. After a few months, protection gets even worse to the point where it barely makes a difference. The vaccines aid in clearing the virus from people who get sick and preventing the most severe symptoms, but they don't provide sterilizing coverage and so other mitigation measures are still necessary.

Basically, if you are in close proximity with someone who has covid for an extended period of time, regardless if one or both of you are vaccinated, you will likely catch the virus as well. The vaccine is not the be all end all of ending this pandemic and so blaming someone for not being vaccinated doesn't seem appropriate. At least, not until we get a version of the vaccine that more closely approaches sterilization.

This was explored in a youtube video a while back. Basically, the argument is that Taylor makes machines for a bunch of chains, but McDonald's machines appear to be designed to bring up cryptic error messages and cease operation for any number of random and even completely innocuous reasons. The franchise owner is responsible for repair costs and must use Taylor service people to fix it. This service for McDonald's specifically is responsible for about 20% of Taylor's revenue annually.

Basically, it looks like a scam between McDonalds and Taylor to steal money from franchise owners.

Well, I think the more relevant reason (to SummoningSalt himself at least) is because Matt Turk was a menace in the Punch Out NES speedruns. He had brutal records that spanned the near entirety of the game. SummoningSalt managed to swipe a record from him in that game. Obviously, SummoningSalt did a video on Punch Out. Hmm... I actually wouldn't say that it is pay to win exactly. It's just a grind and paying makes it easier.

As an experienced player I posted earlier about my complaints, but there is a unique positive that I thought to mention earlier today while I was at work.

One thing that is interesting about this game is that the meta doesn't really shift very much in my opinion. A lot of your overall power in this game is determined by stats that you accrue over the time you play it by upgrading your chips, weapons, etc. Characters on the other hand aren't really that vital though, unlike most games. Most games introduce new characters that start power creeping away from the earlier characters but that doesn't really happen here.

Starting out, you get some S rank tickets with 3 characters to choose from. All 3 of those characters are great and you can use them up until the very most recent content. First Armor X effectively has a 3rd jump, useful for normal play. Also, it can lower enemy defense and stun them. His charge shot is very powerful too as it hit many times. Combining these two attacks in VS mode can often 1 shot your opponent. Aside from him, Black Zero and Cinnamon both can learn barrier skills, which protect them from all damage, which is great for some of the really annoying areas of Jacob's Elevator. Black Zero is very strong and Cinnamon can heal as well.

Basically, the viability of your account does not really hinge on the characters you summon, but rather the investment you put into it by playing it. All S rank characters in the game are useful, even some of the A rank characters like Vile and even Axl, a B rank character. If there is a character you like, go for it and hopefully you get it, but it doesn't really matter that much in my opinion.

I played the Asia version for quite some time. A few things to note:

  1. Maybe I did something wrong, but I lost 2 separate accounts due to the account linking feature not working. When I tried to link to a fresh device, it would take my code, create a new game, and place my code on it, effectively blocking me from being able to get back in. This also happened when I used twitter for login as well. Stupid for me though, since in both cases, I forgot to jot down my account ID. Had I done that, maybe I could have gotten it back.
  2. The premium shop is probably the worst I have ever seen. It is grotesquely expensive.
  3. The gacha is really bad too. The pity is set at 250 pulls before you can use it. The rates aren't so good either.
  4. Multiplayer has been really hit or miss. The servers suck and lag is inevitable and insufferable.
  5. Time. For you to play this game, takes time that most gacha games don't. If you want to max out your gains, you have to do 10 vs matches online every day.
  6. As others have said, the RPG elements to the game that you have to level up are FAR too numerous and cumbersome to deal with. This game is begging for an auto function that gives you the best stat configuration automatically, but I don't recall it having one.
Skip it. It pains me to say this as a fan of Megaman, but this game was trash and I regret ever putting up with it.

I will say as a vax supporter I dont get this. From what I understand a vaxxed or unvaxxed spread the disease equally. Is that not correct?

I guess if its just a roundabout way to get people to get vaxxed im for it.
I don't think we have any real data of how common vaccinated people spread Covid. The data we have now (hospitalizations and infection rates) would suggest that vaccinated people resist transmission. However, there are confounding variables involved. People who get vaccinated are more likely to be risk averse, people who do not get the vaccine are more likely to take risks with their health or even just not care very much. Also, given how the vaccine suppresses symptoms, there is no telling how many vaccinated people have actually got or spread Covid and don't even know it.
