He was caught out lying to me about a key not working & asking for another game. I checked his profile, key did work and because I had a minor suspicion he had an alt in the topic, I checked for the games I'd sent the alt and boom, they were on Aki's account.

Told him he was a liar in PM and I knew his deal, didn't go nuts though, just 'blacklisted' him from my own giveaways in the topics and he went scorched earth on his accounts, deleted me from Steam and made his profile private as a result.

Thank you to both @blistr & @bluezero for the contest rewards, I have received both and I'm very, very grateful (and lucky!) for them. I'll have more money set aside for the Summer event, and will throw down a reward for the end of it that time around too.

Counting both Steam gifts and keys, my backlog increased by like 12 games. Luckily some of the games I got a great for short burst play so I can play them in between the bigger games.

I received many an RPG from this event, my favourite genre. Getting through all of them however? Gonna be an undertaking lol.

you cannot determine how healthy someone is, or how healthy their "habits" are, by looking at them. you also cannot determine those things by looking at their BMI.

I don't typically base it upon simply looking at somebody.

Prior to a serious back injury years ago, I was a fitness instructor. When dealing with consultations and drawing up regimes, I'd ask people to be as honest as possible, and fill out food diaries for a length they felt was reasonable based on what they wanted from me.

Many had bad eating habits, some had underlying medical conditions.

I'd get as much information as possible, have people fill out health-questionnaires and PARQ forms to let me know if I should be referring them to their GP first before going on any form of regime or plan with me. Would have been pretty daft of me to suggest nutritional changes or exercise plans to people that could be detrimental to their health.

My post above is more so on the topic of being "fat-phobic". I don't vibe with the idea of adding phobic to things because it's a cop-out to escape discussion of a variety of subjects. There are people deserving of the mantles, sure, but it's a common tactic to shy away from any discussion.

I've always felt that BMI was a crock of shit myself as well, I liked getting people to a place where they, as an individual, felt comfortable but would always suggest optimal paths to get there and any potential improvements that could be had. BMI is outdated as fuck as there a lot of variables it doesn't take into account.

Once upon a time, weight was a sign of wealth, and being well off / able to eat well was considered a desirable thing.

Now we live in excess of everything, we desire skinny. Kind of funny really lol.

On the one hand, I get it, there's a fundamental difference between mocking somebody for being fat, and suggesting they take up healthier habits for their own good IF they are capable of doing so. Some suffer from medical issues that influence weight gain, some just entertain bad habits.

Adding phobic to things works quite a bit nowadays, it carries such a negative connotation that if you're labeled as such, you're seen as a piece of shit which I don't agree with because it strips any potential nuance from your views on things.

There's being a dick, and there's caring about the health of others. How you go about talking to people about this sort of shit matters.

I've had that happen with specific games too. I think it has to do with the level of discount applied in both regions. If the discount is different, or differs by a specific amount or more, over the two regions then that message comes up. When this happens I either select a different game to gift or I purchase the game from a third party and send the key instead.

Aye, happened with my friend in the US when he wanted to gift me a game for my birthday a couple of months back. His game discounted when taking regional pricing into account worked out much cheaper, so he ended up sending me a digital gift card to cover the cost instead. He ended up spending a little more, but didn't care.

Third party is usually the way when that happens, as long as there are no regional restrictions for the keys.

They still have them both on sale though Shadow Of Mordor GOTY Edition does have a disclaimer stating they have temporarily run out of keys. Shadow Of War Definitive Edition however does not.

Because I own both and know what they are, I didn't see a need to click on their individual pages, I just added them to cart through the small shopping cart prompt and bought that way. Never received a message about either of them being out of stock.

Still took my money anyway, didn't even attempt to stop me or ask to remove from cart lol.

I bought those keys for Cloud & Sutree on the 31st, now the 2nd, and still no dice on receiving keys for either game. Gonna get in contact with support later on to try and resolve it in some way.

It did not have the votes, 2 democrats + the entire GOP were stopping it.

Would I vote for her over a Trumpy? Yes, without a second thought, I'm stuck with her or a GOP member. However, no, to voting for her in any primary. Her brownie points style of messaging turns off swing voters.

When is your birthday? I'll treat you to something next payday / after the event. You're on my friend list so keeping an eye on your wish-list should be easy enough, unless hidden from your profile.

I wish the game had stronger melee combat, then I'd probably enjoy it a tad bit more. Felt like a weaker version of Monster Hunter basically.

That being said, it is polished, which feels like a weird thing to praise a game for as that's what we should expect from a premium, AAA product but I agree.

I tried to get into it twice, second time I reached the point of no return, where I think you're told you can still meet people & do missions for allies before going on a serious mission of some sort. I sort of lost my motivation at that point as I didn't really enjoy exploring the world all that much or the people in it.

It's a well made game, just not one of my personal must have recommendations. I'm not in the majority, which is fine.

I felt like neither of them were particularly great to be honest, though I enjoyed BOTW more than HZD.

HZD was pretty boring for me, didn't like the writing, the characters and the open world aspect didn't do anything innovative or unique, just a run of the mill open world title akin to Ghost of Tsushima. Both GoT and HZD have amazing sound & artistic direction though.

This is what I do.

I have been fortunate to be classified as an essential worker and thus my job/income has not been overly affected during the past 2 years of lockdowns and restrictions. Funnily enough I haven't purchased a single thing for myself this sale, just been trying to share a little joy where I can.

Aye, pretty much the same. My brother shot some cash my way for Christmas so I used that to treat myself to something on League of Legends and then I purchased a game yesterday, but other than that? Money went straight into this more or less which is fine by me, as long as people have a good holiday event.

I've also been on the receiving end of generosity as well which I'm of course, very, very grateful for.

So, one hour into 2022 over here in the UK. I gave my six-year-old a pass to stay up to midnight and he was out cold by 21:50 or so. Before that, he was puffing out his chest like he could do it no problem haha. Anyway, Happy New Year CE. Nothing.

People simply do not enjoy talking about the multiple failings of capitalism, thus the best way to shut discussion down on it is to point out the failings of the other end of the spectrum.

It solves nothing, but what do you expect from people that buy into a system of extreme absolutes. There is to be no in-between, no nuance. Corporations and politicians love the common citizen fighting amongst themselves in culture wars because it enables them to consistently rake the common man / woman over hot coals again, again and again.

Social media algorithms tap into that as well, and enable echo-chambers of such a ridiculous nature that I've given up on it.

I legitimately do not care about the whinging associated with the game.

I felt it was simply too long, and offered far too little dialogue during key moments of the game multiple times over simply to continue the 'revenge breeds revenge' mantra.

It did have improved gunplay and fluidity of movement compared to the original, very much so which made many of the levels feel great to play. Far too many shooting galleries though.

I also didn't feel particularly emotional about it whatsoever during the run. As a father myself, I very much enjoyed the museum flashback segment and thought it very well done for such a small period of the game.

It was solid, glad I bought it at launch with no regrets, but I don't feel that either title deserves the ridiculous amount of praise they get.

I have 2 SSD's dedicated for game installations.

Living in a regional/rural area means internet speeds can sometimes be somewhat lack luster. Only 4 years ago the only option for internet here was ADSL with speeds topping 25mb/s on a good day and constant drop outs, sometimes for hours at a time. Streaming services like Netflix were mostly unwatchable due to constant buffering.

The NBN (Australia's National Broadband Network) rollout came to our area about 4 years ago and we could connect to a more reliable service using fixed wireless technology with speeds topping 65mb/s, though usually 50mb/s. Although it was a vast improvement in speed games could still take hours to download, sometimes having to be left to overnight so as not to impact on the household internet.

About 4 months ago I was lucky enough to be able to connect to Starlink by SpaceX. Internet speeds are now topping at 350mb/s with an average of 260mb/s. Games which took overnight to download now take about an hour or so, all the while not impacting on the household internet, so now I do not need worry about storage space for games on the off chance I want to play something.

I live in the countryside in the UK, left London many years ago after my first son was born (London is too expensive) so we don't always get the best speeds.

Granted, at our first address down here, we were able to get around 80mbp/s which translated to around 8 - 9 MB/s. Wasn't so bad, tolerable, on Fibre Optic and didn't have to worry too much about speeds provided no big downloads were going on all around the house.

Moved house in 2020, from a 2-bed to a 3-bed to have room for our youngest. We went less than a five minute walk down the street. Guess what? The wiring at this address leads to an entirely different exchange much, much further away than our old house. The old house had the exchange more or less behind it lol.

We get half of the speeds at this place, around 42mbp/s, so around 4 - 4.2 MB/s. Still on fibre and streaming / playing games isn't an issue, but my ping is definitely higher here than it was at the old place and of course, I spend more time downloading games as a result lol.

Having the extra space will work wonders I think, means I don't have to keep deleting and reinstalling when my mood shifts the way it does. Kind of why I like smaller games like Deep Rock and Rimworld actually, rife with content and things to do but very small in file size. Then there's RDR2, sitting at like 110GB + haha.

I think I need to consider adding another SSD / HDD to my system to be honest. Games are a bit too big for their own good nowadays. I might do the math later on just how much space I'd need to install the entirety of my Steam Library, for a laugh.

Probably one of the key things I actually appreciate about the Nintendo Switch. Outside of small, relatively minor updates, games can be played from the Cartridges without much issue. Ah, the good old joys of physical media lol.

Yeah, we had a discussion about Skyrim mods on another board! I will keep that advice in mind though. I definitely want to go into my first playthrough of the game completely vanilla. After I see how it works and figure out what I want to mod is when I'll experiment. I'm excited, been wanting to try Stardew for some time now.

I'm glad, it'll suck up hours of your life if you enjoy it.

My wife was apprehensive about trying it for years because she didn't care for the retro 16-bit art style as, she didn't grow up with games. Turns out, all I needed to do to encourage her was buy her a Switch, have her be disappointed with Animal Crossing's depth (before the big update not too long ago) and want for something new but somewhat similar.

She's addicted to it now btw lol.

Worth looking into modding too (haha, we've spoken about modding Skyrim as well I believe @sp0rklez ) after you're done with the vanilla experience as the community has done a great job there.

Always vanilla first though. Where the community for Skyrim has a done a great job of fixing issues and adding to weak systems implemented by Beth over the years, Eric did an incredible job with Stardew Valley and his labour of love and passion in that game should imho, be experienced organically for the first time through.

That really only applies to the Coils of Bahamut since they're not part of the roulette. Everything else is easy enough to get through as you progress through the game in real time.

And one thing I like about Shadowbringers onwards is that you don't need other players to enter dungeons anymore, you can do it with a party of NPCs. Which is really great for people like me who just want to single-player it. (Now if only they would go back and retroactively add the Trust system to previous expansions...)

They have the foundation there for older content. You can take out your company troops up to L59 - 61 dungeons I believe, which is neat for levelling to avoid queues.

Going back and ensuring that older content is easily accessible and enjoyable via the enhanced trust system would be a good move.

There's a bunch on there I haven't played but of the ones I have? I think Worlds, Star Wars CS, Lego Harry Potter 1 - 7 & Indiana Jones were the most enjoyable for sure. I think I enjoyed Lego the most when they didn't talk, the gestures and gags were always funnier to me without the voice acting.
