The bigger issue with your statement is that making another planet habitable for humans is an impossibly larger task than just cutting out climate change.

There's absolutely zero situation where moving to a new planet fixes anything unless you want to be a slave on a Mars colony.

Its important to note we aren't all going to just die due to global warming - we aren't getting some cataclysmic event like the Day after Tomorrow.

Everything is just going to start getting significantly worse, and significantly less hospitable for the human life currently on earth. And that's why rich people making the decisions don't care - they have the resources to protect themselves.

idiotic decisions get made out of self-interest, and neither the liberals, NDP, or Bloc are stupid enough to think they could benefit from an early election. The conservatives will keep calling for an early election, but none of their competition is likely stupid enough to fall for it.

Trudeau has been blamed for literally everything remotely negative that's happened in the country in the last 10 years. He's been quite passive about it, which means we also get shit like conservative provincial governments refusing to do their jobs, or refusing federal money, and blaming Trudeau, which works because he isn't fighting it.

So he's gotten crazy unpopular, and major parts of his government are starting to head for the lifeboats. His basically second-in-command cabinet member recently quit his team (specifically in relation to Trump tariff threats) which basically let the whole country know the ship was sinking.

Trump actually has remarkably little to do with this, in fact in 2016-2020 Trudeau was actually considered to be handling Trump quite well.

Agreed, I'm incredibly worried though that there will be an election sooner than later though.

Neither the NDP or liberals (or even the Bloc) would benefit from an early election, and the conservatives don't have enough seats to trigger one by themselves - making me think that we'll likely be able to stall out into October. The bad thing is it probably won't make a difference.

He expects it to end like the US. That's the end goal.

In theory, this is the best-case scenario as far as a not-conservative government goes. NDP is never going to win enough to take power, so the best bet is for the liberals to distance themselves as much from Trudeau as possible for this next election. Add to that not having an election until October will mean they get 10 months of Trump being a nutcase to point at and say "this is why you shouldn't vote conservative". A sooner election will basically only guarantee a stronger conservative majority.

It won't work, because as we saw from the US election, literally nobody pays any attention so the worst case scenario basically always happens. like 90% of the stuff Justin took shit for wasn't even stuff he did, but whatever.

But it's the best chance the liberals have to have a stronger election and come out with either another minority win or at least keep the conservative government to a minority as well.

This isn't really true. Especially in recent years a lot of conservative politicians (especially safe districts) have been getting louder and louder about being anti-abortion or anti-LGBT - the only reason there isn't more talk against it is widespread public disdain for it, but that's easy to erode. especially for abortions, Canada doesn't have even the protections the States did with Roe v. Wade, so its very possible for a majority conservative government to start hurting your abortion rights very significantly.

And we've learned from both the US, and even local Canadian elections (like Ontario's last provincial election) that people are pretty ****ing quick to forget.

Canada isn't exactly as left-wing as some seem to think - we're just a bit farther behind on the "corporate fascism takeover" that the US is - and if the US goes that way, its very likely we'll follow real quick.

2 - Trudeau resigns and the Liberals find themselves a strong leader fast. They can hold on until October and try to salvage the situation in some ways. Scapegoat Trudeau a bit, claim that they are now united in their messaging and their leadership blah blah blah, and maybe hold onto enough seats with that momentum to stop a majority.

This is likely the best play - because thats also 10 months of Trump both the liberals and NDP can point to. PP is trying (poorly) to do the Trump playbook, and has nothing else going for him, so firmly getting people to reject Trump can help reject PP. Especially because that first 10 months or so is going to be an absolute nightmare for most people and it will be heavily televised.

And even then, we found out from the US election that most people pay damn near zero attention and close-to-nothing can be done to convince someone conservative out of voting conservative.

An election now will guarantee conservative domination.

It'll vary depending on your riding - some will be likely to either be liberal/conservative vs NDP/conservative - basically vote for whoever is the possible non-conservative winner.

The decline of the Simpsons isn't marked by a specific episode. Its by Simpsons losing its identity as the "edgy" subversive show by stuff like Family Guy and South Park coming out.

You can really tell in the teen seasons that they were trying to get closer to that Family Guy vibe but just couldn't do it because they were already so established as something else.

Its interesting, because there are so few shows like the Simpsons where it loses its identity, struggles to find its place, and is still around long enough to find a new one like it currently has.

It's a very good movie, though I do think people overrate it. I think ANH was better.

• Musk also wants to defund education in America so we get more of the people in the above point.

I would unironically love this.

I wouldn't be opposed to re-doing the really old ones, like, sure do a live action version of cinderella or whatever, but those are like, 50+ years old - doing it with like Aladdin feels unnecessary, even with the awkward shoehorned-in versions of trying to justify re-doing the movie.

The show has never been terrible in the way that like, Family Guy became actually bad. At its worst its always just been like, forgettable.

The main thing is is that it's basically a different show now. It can't be the thing it was in the 90s now that shit like Family Guy is in its 20+th season too. It took a while to find a new identity, but most people just aren't wiling to actually give it a chance again.

Its a pretty mid game. Its a pretty generic open world action hold-on-a-minute kind of game, and its not really doing anything bad, but also doesn't really do anything that well.

Because its more interested in the above, it doesn't really do a lot of the actual whimsical Harry Potter stuff that you might actually want from a Harry Potter game.

Wouldn't say no to getting it at 75% off, but its a pretty forgettable game on its own, and really feels like a bit of a missed opportunity with the Harry Potter franchise.

I think Golden Abyss is actually kind of slept on. Its a lot of fun and had all the crazy bits that showed the Vita could have been huge had it actually like, gotten to take off.

Better than 1 for sure. Honestly trying to go back 1 was actually kind of bad - its almost a surprise it got a sequel.

Its probably the 5th day of Christmas, because that's where the big Christmas stuff happens, and you don't really go bigger than 5 golden rings.

Besides, plenty of people do their Christmas celebrations a couple days later or earlier to work around family schedules and stuff like that, so it can't be the last day of Christmas.

But you have 7 days of Xmas after Dec 25, which means your holidays end on Jan 1, the day you have off for New Years. Then you go back to work. It also means the first day of Christmas is Dec 21, which is funnily enough the "official" start of winter.

Cage always does his best in whatever he's doing, even if what he's doing is really stupid. It feels like he cares about every role and is never just phoning it in. I like watching any movie he'll be in because of that. Even if the movie is bad, he's always trying hard enough to at least push it into "guilty pleasure" territory IMO.

tbf, Dbrand releasing a new Switch case and calling it a "Switch 2" case is also pretty on-brand for Dbrand. So it might not actually be revealing anything, and is rather a silly joke for them to grab attention with.

Borderlands 2 was excellent, and had enough fun with 3, but I'm not quite as excited as I would have been like 10 years ago.

The biggest issue with Kanto in Gen 2 imo is the fact that it was treated as an open world, giving the player the freedom to visit any town in almost any order. As a result all the gym leaders (except Blue) have same-ish levels and are less of a challenge than the E4, making you just breeze through gym after gym.

I think if the path was more linear, the opponents' levels could grow along with the player and make it more of a challenge rather than a bonus tour.

I actually liked this more. Because from a in-game standpoint, you're the champion of Kanto too - you should be better than the gym leaders there too. If it was linear and the opponents levels continued to rise, it then sort of undermines the idea that you're the "champion" of the region, because why tf would the Elite 4 being going easy on you the first time? It keeps the main challenge as the "champions" of each region, or the people who you already know have been champion before (Blue, Red).

It means you get to go on a victory lap and sort of explore this old world as a bonus for playing through the game, rather than some secret second game after you "finish".

I enjoyed it when I first played it, but the Gen 4 pokemon games are the ones I've never really bothered coming back to, when every other one I've gone back to quite a bit.

Played a ton when it was Gen 4 though, so I can't really say I think its anywhere close to bad.

Tauros and Marshadow both seem like they were specifically designed to be counter the heavy Pikachu EX meta.

I remember this, and as a 8-10 year old during this time, it was fine. It wasn't my favourite dumb cartoon, but its not like it was bad.

One of the thing I largely forgot about until this topic, and then the theme song immediately jumped into my brain.

Got 5 wins with a Dragonite deck pretty quick, but definitely got really lucky with some people just not really getting good draws or my Draco Meteor hitting that Mewtwo EX for 200 to give me a win.

Swapped to my stupid coin flip deck and haven't won a match since, but it was very fun having a match go like 5 extra turns because they needed a Heads to wake up and I needed a Heads to get the KO with Seaking and it was just tails after tails.

IIRC god packs are something like a 0.5% chance or something crazy low like that, so its pretty iffy about anyone getting one.

It is possible that its an empty threat, so Trump can force whatever leader's he wants into an immediate meeting, than Trump can just say whatever happened and its a victory.

Because Trump is exactly the kind of idiot that will blow the entire global economy up just cuz, and that sort of ironically gives him literally all the leverage in this situation.

Trump has a card he can pull out literal any time as often as he wants because he controls the world economy to get a free W. But if he ever actually pulls the trigger on it, the impending recession will basically kill the USA as the economic powerhouse it is, forever. And he (and now the entire US government) is stupid enough to do it anyways. Which means every other main country for the next bit needs to capitulate to whatever he demands.

So he wants to get rid of everything that typically favours voting democrat.

On the plus side, it means we will likely in fact have a few more elections. It does however, mean they'll likely be paper elections like dictators do, and I'd imagine we "somehow" get a 50 state sweep for Trump in 2028 where he "totally legit" gets like 98% of the vote. And that probably isn't better.

It's a stupid idea, and it's not like Trump is likely to respect a pardon anyways, so all it does is sacrifice any legitimacy or respectability Biden or other democrats might have. It makes it seem like Trump actually had a point when he said the dems were blatantly corrupt, and will use that as a defence when he is significantly worse.

I totally understand the reasoning behind why it happened. I don't think anything remotely positive will actually come from this, even in terms of protecting Biden and his family from direct targeted political prosecution.

That quickly dissipated when I was in college, and I started actually talking to women and people of color who corroborated the exact same experiences.
