What classes are really good? I think Geomancer and Mathematician were top tier.
Pretty much all of them, tiering them is less about which ones are good versus bad and more about how much you can abuse the crap out of them. Abandon Dancer, for instance, is super OP and can solo basically the entire game with no issues, but Dancer is still somewhat low tier in that there are just so many overpowered things that you can be doing to the point that just "killing all of the map with no chance at losing at the same time" isn't particularly spicy.

In all respects they are just Metroidvanias, but the idea of being "special" has caused people to declare that the act of being hard is somehow a genre. Hence why there is always a scramble to try and define the genre but any attempt beyond "is hard" fails on all levels. In that vein half of this topic has just declared all of the older MMOs that are based on Everquest Soulslikes while the other half have declared that Demons Souls to not be a Soulslike: clearly not their intention and thus a flagrant flaw in the definition given.

Nah, the radicalization from Murdock/right-wing media absolutely cannot be undervalued. Extremely toxic mentality beaten into the heads of the populace is a very real problem, and when mixed with the US' easy access to guns it makes the mentality of the media easy manifest versus other locations with a major propaganda wing.

Ramza's Squire isn't a generic class either. The fact that it shares the same name as a generic class is what the problem was.
I mean, I agree with that. However, the fact that he was a squire is also true, and the fact that he never actually was knighted yet was constantly up against actual knights was relevant to the plot. So whether or not he's given a new, special job class title isn't the issue... only that they specifically are calling him a knight. This is especially egregious if this is his job from the get-go as it's pretty narratively relevant that everyone at the beginning is still a squire, so having him suddenly be a knight surrounded by squires is just a bit silly.

I'm also specifically referring to generic characters and not the generic job. Alicia and Lavian may not have their own sprites and whatnot, but they are not generic knights as far as what I'm talking about: they are knights tasked with protecting Ovelia.

Generics already flagrantly ignore any form of what the words mean, so them breaking the "rule" already doesn't matter. Ramza isn't a generic, "Gallant Knight" isn't a generic class. This is clearly different.

Yeah... I have to agree that that's pretty weak. "Knight" doesn't mean "swordsman", it is very specifically someone who serves a sovereign lord. Ramza is quite literally the opposite of that to everyone involved to the point that every single person in-universe should view him as an "anti-knight" more than the opposite. His entire journey is giving middle fingers to absolutely every institution that could knight him + him actively not bowing down to power.

it worked for the commander decks

it depends on how much is made
That had nothing to do with them printing more than expected. That had a lot more to do with scalpers not really getting that Commander decks historically get three runs, and so when the second and third run happened they kind of just had to give up.

The extreme price early on was certainly higher than normal (no thanks to Wizards increasing the base cost), but historically Commander decks never go above MSRP outside of the initial rush beyond the "big winner" commander deck(s) (an example of this would be the FFVII one still being above MSRP due to coming with Clever Concealment, Tifa, and Skullclamp + Lightning Greaves). This is made all the more evident when you consider that the FFVI one was the most expensive pre-launch due to scalpers, but once it came time for the normal MtG cycle to happen it ended up being the one that you can consistently find as the only card that really matters for people who don't have an particular desire to collect the cards is Reanimate: a reprint.

By comparison Cloud (as I used as the example) is a card that holds a lot of value right now due to just how playable it is + it being a popular character. Unlike the Commander decks it isn't an overall product but instead an individual card, which means that its price will actually fluctuate a bit differently based on speculation + play rather than strictly because of just printing. And if this is a form of guaranteed promo for the bundle it really won't take a whole lot for the price of the default Cloud to get hit as its value is based on playability + rarity, and even the most minor printings in this nature ends up massively reducing the price. Scavenging Ooze is a great example of this as it was $40 prior to getting a promo printing, but with the promo printing it basically died price-wise and hit <$1.

Considering the popularity of the set it's pretty dubious for price of the set to go down meaningfully as an average. All these will do is reduce the price of a couple of the cards involved that have gotten low play + a number of printings (Cloud, Midgar Mercenary comes across as one as a guaranteed promo generally hits the normal card price in situations like this).

? There are a lot of optional things that have achievements. Stuff like filling out the Hunter's Journal, aquiring all tools, and getting all mask shards are optional in getting the endings. What makes it unique is that it's missable, which is something only applies to achievements tied to getting endings (such as beating the game in less than five hours). Heck, the base ending's achievement is missable in the exact same way. Its uniqueness versus them is the steps to getting it meaning that most people will only even know of it because other people brought it up: a standard thing for secrets.

I don't think there was a quest for second ending, if you do silk and soul quest before second you are locked out of it.
That is because there isn't really a "second" ending. There is the Normal, True, and Cursed endings. The fact that the last can only really happen in the middle of the other two doesn't really make it the second ending per-say as it's more an Easter egg/secret ending. The game has a bunch of weird branch-off bits that you can do based on how observant (the different quills is still pretty mind blowing to me). In that vein it isn't the completion of the Silk and Soul quest that locks you out of getting the ending, but completing the Rite of Rebirth quest or going into Act 3.
