Kelsey Plum, who was basically the Clark of five years ago was a bum her first W season and was pushed around a lot. Probably best to wait and see how she does in the regular season before coming to any conclusion.

You can be a good player on a bad team. NBA season just had Victor Wembanyama. No one was going Spurs lost discredit the talent of Victor. I think even Jordan's Bulls weren't good first couple years. Caitlin looks like the front runner for ROTY like Victor was in NBA this season regardless of how team performs.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/inside-the-screaming-match-that-ended-gma-weatherman-rob-marcianos-career

ABC News senior meteorologist Rob Marciano was fired this week after he got into a heated screaming match with one of the producers of Good Morning America, two sources familiar with the situation told The Daily Beast. Following the veteran weathermans recent outburst towards the producer, the networks chief meteorologist, Ginger Zee, overheard the story of Marcianos latest workplace tirade. Zee then decided to report the incident to network leadership, considering that it wasnt the first time that Marciano had crossed the line on the set. Sources said that given the history of past complaints about Marcianos behavior, the network decided this was the last straw and gave him his walking papers.

The New York Post reported on Wednesday that Marciano clashed with Zee for years, that their working relationship had long been stormy, and they did not collaborate. I think she brought out the worst in him. Im not giving him a pass, one source told The Post. Marciano, who joined ABC News in 2014, had previously been banned from the Good Morning America studio in 2022 over what Page Six described at the time as anger management issues. The prohibition from the set of the networks staple morning show lasted roughly a year. Reporting on the lengthy banishment, Page Six noted that Marciano had made another female colleague feel uncomfortable and that he was punished for improper behavior. Besides issues surrounding alarming events on set, the tabloid reported last year that Marciano had been cranky as he was going through a divorce at the time.

TopicSexism, Hate, Mental Illness: Why Are Men Randomly Punching Women in NYC?
BlueTigerLion
04/30/24 5:30:32 PM
#1
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/12/nyregion/new-york-city-random-attacks-women.html

Before her trip to New York a few weeks ago, Lisa Pires, a South African living in Amsterdam, encountered a series of videos on TikTok in which young women had filmed themselves after getting attacked on the street in New York. Most were punched in the face unprovoked, at random in Manhattan south of Midtown and during the day. I remember thinking it sounded so absurd that it couldnt really have been a thing, Ms. Pires, who comes to the city often, told me recently. Many others appeared to share her reaction. Women were calling City Council members, wanting to know if the videos were part of a prank, social media having complicated the relationship between the reality of crime and the perception of its prevalence. The beauty of an accuser all too often breeds suspicion, however prejudicially, especially if the accuser is a TikTok influencer with more than a million followers. In this instance, the tousled blond hair, long nails and laugh-crying on view in one of the most watched videos surely helped sow doubt on a take rendered in a bracing Clueless argot (literally I fell to the ground and this giant goose egg is forming on my head and Im like oh, my God, Halley Mc****in said into her iPhone). On March 27, the Councils Womens Caucus issued a statement confirming that reports of these attacks were not a hoax but instead part of an alarming trend in violence against women.

Despite her skepticism, Ms. Pires made a note to be vigilant when she was in New York. Heading to lunch on a bright and chilly afternoon at the end of last week, she was standing at an intersection on Delancey Street waiting for the light to change when she noticed a man, walking in the opposite direction, studying her. She registered that he was quite well dressed, but almost nothing else made an impression. Before she knew it he struck her with his fist, hitting her on the right side of her head. He fled uptown on Essex Street. She reported the incident at the Seventh Precinct, where a detective told her that these type of attacks had become kind of a big deal at the moment. She was left with swelling in her ear; her face turned black and blue.

What was provoking all this? Fourteen women have reported getting punched out of nowhere by strangers since mid-March, leaving at least one of them with a broken nose, according to the police and city officials. So far there have been two arrests: In each case the assailant was charged with misdemeanor assault, a category in which judges are generally barred from setting bail and one that has risen 13 percent over the past two years even as major crimes have fallen. The man arrested in the case of Ms. Mc****in, a 40-year-old occasional fringe political candidate from Brooklyn named Skiboky Stora, has a criminal record and his own active internet presence, maintaining an Instagram page with provocative images of young women and pictures of himself standing in front of a Trump: Make America Great Again sign. He wears a baseball cap with an inscription that claims he is the great-great-grandson of Marcus Garvey. Were women panicking needlessly? It was hard not to interpret these recent offenses within the broader context of a roving and seemingly ever-more-insidious misogyny. In 2022, the most recent year for which there is available city data, women were killed by intimate partners at a rate 30 percent higher than the previous year. Reports of domestic violence also increased during that period, and nationwide, between 2018 and 2021, incidents of domestic violence involving guns went up by more than 7 percent. According to a survey from the Pew Research Center, a third of women under 35 report having been sexually harassed online. And this is to say nothing of the less manifestly aggressive, if pervasive, abrasions the distillation of any middle-aged woman who complains about anything to the favored signifier of oblivious bourgeois entitlement, the Karen.

One of the people names had to be censored due to containing a banned word in it on this site.

It probably time to just let the data speak for itself instead of anecodtes or guessing if this board will get more or less traffic after going private. My view is it is more likely the number keeps going down since no one new can join long term.

TopicRate of female teachers charged with raping young boys in America on the rise

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13326161/Cougars-classroom-alarming-rate-teachers-charged-raping-young-boys-America.html

Dozens of female teachers have been arrested this year across the nation for sex crimes involving students - as the seeming number of 'cougars in the classroom' continues to grow. A long line of female teachers allegedly involved with youngsters across the country dominates headlines. DailyMail.com discovered that 25 female teachers had been arrested in 16 states in only the last 12 months - and it is feared to be merely the tip of the iceberg as there appears to be no centralized data collection to track this disturbing trend. In the last month, married New Jersey teacher Jessica Sawicki, 37, was arrested after cops found her half-naked in the back seat of a teen's car at a wildlife center. The mother-of-two allegedly admitted to police she and the student had 'unprotected' sex at least five times. In Nebraska, 45-year-old Erin Ward was arrested after being caught naked in the backseat with a teen boy. The substitute teacher is married to a Department of Defense official and was quickly arrested at the scene by police. Many of the accused female teachers charged in the last year are married and one was even named teacher of the year. The teachers are enticing students with sexually-charged texts, nude photos and videos, before and during physical encounters, police say.

Leading child psychologist Dr. Michael Oberschneider, of Ashburn Psychological Services, said social media influence has contributed to the abuse dynamic and rise in number of cases. 'Social media can serve to blur the lines between the student-teacher relationship, which can in turn open the doors to more inappropriate outcomes,' he said. He explained that students have more access to their teachers through various online formats, which can lead to inappropriate communication and even inappropriate relationships of a sexual nature. He said even Instagram, and other social media platforms, allow students to see, and to possibly interact with, their teacher in more personal or intimate ways. Another contributing factor,is the 24-hour news cycle as more of these cases are being reported, Oberschneider said. In his estimation, 80 percent of teachers who abuse students, are still predominantly male. He explained the research shows, males are more opportunistic, more predatory and more aggressive with the motivation being focused on sex. While female teachers tend to be motivated, it seems, to abuse their students in different ways and for different reasons. It often revolves around emotional conflict, unmet intimacy needs, personal issues, loneliness and feelings of isolation.
