Well we'll find out since I called in for today, shit seems to be hitting the fan as I type this. Shit definitely would've hit the fan if I didn't show up my last few shifts, like store closing 4 hours early fucked. Gonna be an interesting night for somebody.

This post made me feel sorry for you man, due to the fucked up circumstances it requires and the contradiction of the situation. You said you can live on min wage and its not about the money, but then follow it up with having to cover the rest by financial aid and its definitely going to be about the money for years.

I mean its only about the money as far as its always about money. I just don't need something high paying right now that would demand more of my free time. My future career path is lofty enough I don't mind scraping for a few months.

You can get high paying jobs without school. I make $33/hr on a high school education. You just gotta look in the right places.

I set out a goal for myself, and unfortunately that goal requires a Master's degree minimum. It's not really about the money, I can live on minimum wage. I just need a job to pay rent/bills while I go to school, where financial aid and other opportunities can cover the rest.

2 terms max (rather 1 but open to 2), and drop their pay to something closer to other public servants and otherwise take money as a motivating factor out of that position. Reward compassion and the drive to actually want to do good by the people, not just what lines your pockets.

The problem is I want to go back to school in fall and finish college. I can get a better paying job, but those ones are less willing to work with a school schedule. If I can get out of retail/fast food I will, but at this point I just need income.

Talked to my AGM who shares similar sentiments about our company and knows a little more of the inner workings. Looks like I might put myself at a negotiation table for a raise. Honestly, if I can grab a little extra money and bail in a couple months when I have a job lined up, that's way better than where I'm at right now. I can argue my case, just gotta figure out how much to ask for.

I appreciate all the advice. I ended up waiting a day before turning it in, but gave it to my manager today. The office isn't open til Tuesday and I'm sure they'll try to talk me out of it, but at least I have the relief of finally doing the action I've been needing to take.

Monday I'm gonna start sending out applications, update my Indeed, etc. . My coworkers are making me confident I'll find something so that energy is definitely gonna motivate me.

Feels like a weight off my shoulder. Reality hasn't set in, I'm still working through the end of the month (worst case they'll delay me til April). I 100% understand the whole "line something up first" excuse, but my mental health is getting to a breaking point where I need to take a risk. I do have a fallback, but that includes potentially screwing my roommate and I'm not really including that in any plans. The plan is to absolutely have a job in April.

I know you said it's difficult to find another job, but I think you should try push through the job hunting while still employed, however hard it may be. A month isn't a long time to find a job, and even if your bosses would take you back, your life would probably be even more of a living hell.

I've tried to do that, and so far haven't been able to muster the motivation. I think I have to force my own hand. Also my bosses won't make my life any more hell than they've already made it. They'll be desperate to take me back if anything.

They simply don't pay me enough to save any more. My best bet for money is going back to school and getting a grant/loan, and quitting this job will give me a nice buffer to work on that.

Over the past while I've realized I fucking hate my job and its actively holding me back from making any progress in my life. I work 8:30pm-5am which makes it difficult to get a stable sleep schedule to go out and look for another job/do things during the day, and night shift is always fucked over with no compensation. There have been numerous times this week I've had to do the work of multiple people with 0 appreciation or compensation. Upper management has made a series of decisions that have contributed to instability in the work place (can't hire enough people to fill in their new times). If I made more than barely above min wage I'd grit my teeth and bear it for job security, but literally every day I either want to put in my 2 weeks notice, quit on the spot, or blow my brains out over the line (MODS: not suicidal! Being hyperbolic).

Biggest problem that comes with quitting sooner than getting a new job first is paying rent. I can do it this month and if the stimmies come through I'll float through April. But I don't feel very motivated atm to look with all the additional stress.

Its a long time coming and I plan on quitting within the next few months anyways, but my mental health is taking a considerable nosedive and it feels like I'm setting myself on fire staying instead of taking action.

CE, should I keep on trucking and deal with it. Or make the hard decision? Fortunately, my bosses are desperate enough that they'll hire me back on if I come back no questions asked.

I've only done black mage. Kind of wish I'd tried something else now that I'm at level 60. Is it common for people to do another class when they hit 80?

I'm thinking ninja or machinist if I do try a second job.

One of XIV's biggest draws to me is that I can level up multiple jobs on the same character, so I assumed that its sorta expected to level something else after hitting 80. Plus I don't want to waste any sweet experience from quests/msq.
