I bet you can find more than one or two on this board alone. I used to play via emulators every once in a while and completely stopped now that Steam and even the consoles have started to offer tons of games at great prices. Like, I've paid for almost a dozen old Nintendo games on Virtual Console when I had nearly all of them on emulators in the past. You give people a great value, and they'll usually support you.

Also, isn't the state of PC gaming much healthier now than before Steam blew up (say, five years ago)? Yeah, pirates will always exist, but at least it's not a "dying" format anymore.

This P much. You can see the juxtaposition pretty clearly comparing Valve and Nintendo, the PC is experiencing a revival while Xenoblade is getting pirated in record numbers. It's all about how you treat your customers.

Apple just takes advantage of peoples idiocy though, they don't do that much that's -evil- per se as a lot of people in this topic are getting on them about. Quick question for everyone who considers Apple evil, what is your opinion on Sony? Because this company that installs rootkits on their customers computers, that won't fix their defective systems like MS and Nintendo do until forced to by lawsuit, that keeps its customers private info unencrypted, and that tries to subpoena people for viewing a youtube page, somehow seems to be pretty well regarded here! Does Sony get a free pass for being an evil, consumer abusive corporation because they make some good video games like SotC and GoW while Apple maintains a platform that is not a good choice for gaming?

+1 for making sense and not going for the clique derail.

You have to look to the far fetched for answers when more reasonable explanations have already been eliminated. What, am I to believe that they just deleted it at random and without any cause of any kind?

I didn't know having a topic deleted on a random sub-message board of a site qualified as "corporate censorship."

There is no reasonable explanation for its deletion beyond how bad it makes GameStop look, a company that advertises on GameFAQs. Surely CBS wants them to be portrayed in a positive light.

shutting down inflammatory topics on a niche video game contest message board is CBS/Gamestop's number one priority, yes

The topic wasn't inflammatory at all. It might not be particularly nice to say that GameStop is a cancer to the game industry, but it's the truth and it needs to be said.

SE doesn't even care about Gamestop's policy. You're getting more upset than the affected company; what does that tell you about your priorities?

I wasn't that upset about it until the topic got modded, and I'm more offended by the corporate censorship than GameStop's actual offense at this point. No wonder consumers are so easily abused in this era when the corporate world, and government for that matter, are all in on the same scheme.

Guess we wouldn't want to offend our valuable business partners(because no one that isn't employed by GS would have been offended by that), I wonder how much advertising money GameStop pays CBS annually? Good to see the mods defending such an upstanding company that guts product, disposes of part of it, and then sells it as new.

Microsoft on the other hand is almost entirely dependent on third parties, they really don't make anything good of their own like Nintendo and Sony, the 360 is a great console mostly because it consistently gets the best version of multiplat releases, not exclusives.

One of the driving forces of Gamestop is also the fact a lot of kids/teens don't have jobs, so a lot of their money for new games come from trade ins. Gamestop is the only viable place to trade them in without dealing with all kinds of bank accounts, paypal, etc, so its easiest for teens to do it there.

There are other used game stores

what the

japan isn't xenophobic. they're assimilating american culture at a faster rate than ever before. the failing of the 360 in that market has less to do with "it wasn't made by one of us" and more "it has very little that appeals to us."

I'm not really seeing this, the PS3 and the 360 have very similar libraries except most cross platform games run better on the 360. There's no real -reason- why the 360 should do that badly, except the RRoD reputation making people swear it off before they finally redesigned it maybe. But MS fixed RRoD's for free here so I'd assume it shouldn't have been a huge problem in other regions either. This wasn't like when the PS2 was having mass DRE's and Sony refused to fix it until forced by a class action lawsuit. Microsoft and Nintendo generally take the high road and avoid that kind of thing. Thankfully since the 360 and the Wii were the less reliable systems this generation.

They calling mangas comics now for sounding more american!

This is actually pretty awful because there should definitely be a distinction there...

Even so I think the Japanese have more pride than Americans. They're more likely to buy from one of their own where an American will readily buy something made in China, who is our enemy for all intents and purposes, if it's a dollar or two cheaper than a US made product. Of course the 360 also sells the best in America, but the PS3 and Wii are also enormously popular in the US.

Japan is notoriously xenophobic, it was stupid of Microsoft to bother dumping that much money into that market when they were going to buy their own product no matter what from the start. That combined with the increasing prominence of handhelds over consoles made them pretty much irrelevant. Then again, they do ok in Europe although not as well as the PS3, and Europe hates America more than anyone.

It's amusing to see the 360 flounder late in the game like this when it is the only console that has been consistently improved with every revision, while Sony removes features near annually and Nintendo is now ending GameCube BC.

Bleach pretty much went down the crapper when Aizen took off his glasses though. It's had its moments since then, but it never got back to where it was for the first 50-60 episodes. Even as unoriginal as it was, the earlier episodes were the best.

Is it sad that all four of the Metroid games I played last year (Fusion, Prime, Super Metroid, Other M) gave me light scares?

Funnily enough, Resident Evil 4 wasn't actually that much more scary!.

That isn't that surprising, Resident Evil isn't a horror series anymore, RE4 is an action game with elements of horror thrown in- just like Metroid.

Speaking of Shadow of the Colossus, do you guys think there should be a Metroid game in the future devoid of all enemy encounters aside from boss battles?

This idea may actually work better with Metroid than it did for Shadow of the Colossus. Games like Super Metroid and Metroid Prime had really beautiful atmospheres that were more varied in their design than either of the games team Ico has made.
