I wonder if the rules allow the same person to win prizes from both contests? Hopefully it doesn't happen as the winning threshold needed for a 30 match bracket should be higher.

I see one database entry with tiebreaker 778932 and empty username. Was this you?

That's my entry btw, sorry.

Can you please kindly resubmit and see if your user name appears on the confirmation screen? This shouldn't happen unless you're using a custom stylesheet or you'd submitted modified or incomplete HTML.

Thanks!

The original pre-contest BOP is still here: http://fghj.pw/cbx2/bop.php

After accounting for eliminated characters, not much has changed, except Mario is now more heavily favoured & Snake is now less favoured. (See Battles 142, 146, 148, 149.) The vast majority of brackets still have Link winning and the top 8 winning all of their respective Round 5 matches.

I don't know, I don't have a way to say. Are there specific steps to follow or is it just copy-pasting the URL into the box?

You copy & paste the contents of the URL, not the URL itself. So what you paste into the box should start with something like

<!doctype html>
<html lang="en" class="js no-touch" itemscope>
<head>
<title>Character Battle X - Second Chance Bracket Entry - GameFAQs</title>

and it should be quite long with some 600+ lines of code.

I see one database entry with tiebreaker 778932 and empty username. Was this you?

Uh, I think I submitted it. I only copy-pasted the HTML into the box, but it doesn't show neither my username nor my tiebreaker.

something went wrong... did you copy the entire html? are you using a custom css/stylesheet?

Although a BOP for the Second Chance Contest is good to have, some of the brackets that people submit won't be the same as their final bracket. So you will have to start up a second topic after entries close so people can submit their final bracket and we can see how things have changed from the original BOP.

Sure, I'll do that... what's annoying is the parser for the bracket submission page actually isn't compatible with the "View Your Bracket" page (presumably due to differences in underlying HTML), so I'll either have to write a separate parser or ask people to resubmit as close to the deadline as possible.

I'd like to humbly ask @Ngamer64 & @NowItsAngeTime for permission to run the Board 8 Contest as well ... are you okay with this? I can promise there will be no more data entry errors ;-)

From extrapolation only about ~1500 votes should be enough for a comeback. What are the major Kingdom Hearts communities where we can encourage them to come here & vote? :-)

Hi @Ngamer64 and @NowItsAngeTime ,

I have a lot of respect for you & your contributions over the years.

However, if you don't mind...would you be okay if I took over administrating the entire B8 Challenge in the next contest (along with BOP)?

I have almost everything fully automated on my end, and assuming the scripts don't change significantly on GF's side next time, I should be able to just push some buttons and everything should run on autopilot.

But this is your creation so I didn't want to just hijack it without your permission.

I can tell that it registered those other votes, because it altered the percentages, but my selections were not reflected.

Looks like your entry is not complete? It does not have all 150 battles. I notice some numbers are missing.

So, um, I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but you know that part where you're supposed to resubmit your bracket if you change it and this thing is only supposed to count the latest bracket submitted under that user name?

Well I just tested it and the older submissions don't cycle out; My picks go up by 1 no matter how many previous times I've entered this account's bracket in.

Sorry guys, my apologies. Also thanks to @dimi161 who reported this issue via PM.

I was using ROW_NUMBER() OVER PARTITION which MySQL didn't support until v8.0, released earlier this year! Turns out my web host has an older version of MySQL installed, so windowing functions won't work. I've rewritten the query & confirmed it's doing what it's supposed to.

This means the bracket count has decreased substantially (from 63 to 37), but it's legit. only 37 distinct users have submitted their brackets over the past week

The matches are showing 31 entries for Rounds 2 and beyond, but 32 entries for Round 1. Did someone submit a Round 1 only bracket?

It appears someone submitted an incomplete bracket. Should I exclude them from the counts or leave them in?

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack this topic, but I realized there's a much easier way to enter & aggregate everyone's contest entry without using JSFiddle or manually typing out a 150-match bracket. The new process literally takes 10 seconds!

Data Entry: http://fghj.pw/cbx/

Current Match by Match Odds: http://fghj.pw/cbx/bop.php
(Sorry, it does NOT include the submissions above, but going forward, this should save a lot of time.)

If you make changes to your bracket, just resubmit it & the BOP stats page will automatically pull your latest entry for aggregation.
