| Centurion 09/15/20 8:40:21 PM #306 | Underleveled posted... You know what I randomly miss from old school Survivor (aside from everything)? Presentation themes. Like, they'd take a theme related to that location and design the sets, challenges, rewards, and even an occasional twist after it. Pearl Islands was pirate-themed, Palau had a WWII theme, China really dove into the culture and lore of Ancient China, Gabon focused on the Garden of Eden, Guatemala was archeology-themed, etc. That was something really cool that we haven't seen in years, and was something that really helped seasons stand out from each other aesthetically. Plus for many of the rewards they would dive into the culture of that location. Instead of just... random Chinese Takeout or something. I remember I would make a wishlist of what locations I'd love to see in the future - Greece, Madagascar, Peru, perhaps another region of Australia, etc. Too bad they're gonna be in Fiji forever. :( --- ~Centurion~ http://tinyurl.com/nvurdtw |

An entire season of Mirna instead of a somewhat-tolerable 7 episodes (and she was MUCH worse, if that were somehow possible; the way she talked to/about Charla was actually quite uncomfortable) I hated that Colin/Christie weren't on that season to act as some sort of counter-balance. Only someone like Randy could act unbelievably pissed after winning that challenge. Shifting Sand Land is pretty great, and MIPS is memorable and makes the castle feel alive. Hazy Maze Cave is excellent, and the broad range of challenges is part of that. It's essentially the same as triple-dipping Boo in Spiny Desert, except that you will see Boo TWICE during the middle turn should you roll high enough. I honestly think this strategy for Chilly Waters is so good that any player should just hoard Reverse Mushrooms on this board. Oh, and speaking of Spiny Desert, rolling a 7 or 8 at the start can give you a huge lead right off the bat if you take advantage of the Bowser Space before the first skeleton key door. Basically, if you roll one of those numbers you then buy a 10-coin item from the shop (so Golden Mushroom if it's Toad; Plunder Chest if it's Baby Bowser) and then proceed to deliberately land on the Bowser Space to receive 30 free coins (since you will have 0 when you meet Bowser). Just a way of utilizing the Bowser Spaces/Bowser Phone as a defense mechanism in the game. There's just nothing particularly interesting you can do with a lot of it compared to the other boards in 3, and that leads to a lot of dead turns with little interesting happening, as well as probably the second-least Boo interaction in the game (Waluigi's Island coming in first for having a TRUE 50/50 guard Boo). I would disagree. Chilly Waters is the only board in the game where a player can actually quad-dip Boo with a Reverse Mushroom (Yes, quad-dip. First time - Forward normally. Second - Reverse back. Third - Bounce off the skeleton key door on the SAME turn and then continue to reverse. Fourth - Forward again.). As far as seeing who is in control goes, there are so many damn conversations that take place in the hours and hours and hours of footage we don't see, they can edit it to make it look like it happened however they want to. But the organic stuff is what made the show so special back when it was brand new. This stuff is comparable to Greg's coconut phone or Sean's fishing pole that they would never show us in a modern season but made those guys classic characters that people still remember 20 years later.
