I overrated Sirfetch'd a bit. Prob should have put it around #20 for me.

Okay well. If my #73 makes the top 10, this top 10 sucks. Regardless of the rest. The remaining "the rest" isn't good enough anymore to counter balance that.

Also this is much better than I was expecting Inteleon to do. Most other western communities loathe it (to this day) and it had an intensely negative reaction during the first week or two of release. Was anticipating it going out in the bottom half, tbh.

Inteleon is my #1, but it's extremely close between it and my #2, so it's more like I have two #1-2s than a clear #1 and #2.

I slightly underrated Dreepy in particular, so I hope I'm not the cause of it barely missing the top 10 or something :<

My #1 is also something which the western community in particular haaaates despite being one of the most popular of the gen in Japan. So I'm surprised it isn't already out.

Actually that still describes multiple Pokemon this gen tbh.

Sneaseler - I hated it when it was first revealed. Weavile is one of my all time favourite Pokemon, so I was *pissed* that the devs decided to replace it with a weird, lanky, gross-colored version of it. But... I still see some of the things I like about Weavile in this, so it's grown on me enough that I now think it's quite decent. It'll never be Weavile, but on its own, it's 'aight. Honestly might grow to like it more yet.

Dracozolt - Hate it just as much conceptually as the others, but this particular design masks the inhumanity of it waaay better than the other ones. If you don't look at it too closely, you can almost picture this as just an ordinary creature with a huge hind quarter. I think I overrated this a bit, but it's still by far the best of the 4 fossils imo. I like dinosaurs a lot, so this manages to be one of the better of the gen for me.

Poltegeist - Noticable improvement over its pre-evo for me. I like the little tea spirit hiding inside of a tea pot a lot more than the tea cup itself having a face stuck on it. It's kinda cute how it peeks out, and how it has little feet dangling down. Not too bad as far as objectmons go.

Hatterene - Slightly underrated this I think. It's quite a competent Gardevoir expy. Just pleasent to look at. Not something I really want on my team, but I don't mind it showing up. Did this really need to become an archetype, though? Especially when so far none of them have come close to being as good or popular as Gardevoir itself?

Coalossal - Finally. How did Carkoal do so much worse than this? To me, they're very similar in theme and appearance, and I dislike both for the same reasons, so I struggle to rationalize that there's such a big difference in placement.

There's 4 pokemon still in which I firmly dislike. My #94 (especially), #85, #76, #73. But the other 46 range from "ok" and up, so my comments should be mostly more positive from here.

X vs. Zero

Ah. If any of my top 20 were to finally fall, I am okay with this. I found it hard to rate anyway and probably slightly overrated it.

At least the best fossil won.

Sizzlipede - I can't describe why, but I much prefer Centiskorch to this. Something about this feels... creepy to me. Bleh.

Eternatus - To me, this is probably the most boring final boss Pokemon in the series. I often forget this exists, which is pretty damning for a freaking main legendary.

Eldegoss - I echo my comment about its pre-evo. Kinda cute, inoffensive, but underwhelming.

Duraludon - I think I slightly overrated this. Dragons and dinosaurs are often a slam dunk for me, so I don't hate this, but one that looks like a stapler / pez dispenser / penis is not it. Can't they just make a slightly more normal looking metal dragon?

Arctozolt - Like its compatriots, it's just conceptually morbid and gross.

Barraskewda - For a long time, I felt like this was one of the best fish designs in the series. I've cooled on it slightly, and fish can only go so high (not very), but it's still pretty neat.

Regieleki - Like its dragon-type cousin, this was a very unnecessary addition imo. Not a fan. But I don't hate looking at it, so it manages to place above most of the Pokemon that actively annoy me.

Morpeko - Pikaclones are such a tired trope and this one has no charm to me. Too cylindrical too.

Zarude - I find this one very, very hard to rate. When I look at the design, its backstory and such, it actually has a lot of things I like and feels like a Pokemon I should be really into. It's a cool mon. But... it just doesn't excite me at all for some reason. Somehow, it's just less than the sum of its parts.

Dracovish - The previous fossils I said were awful, but this one has actually grown on me, I have to admit. Maybe its particular brand of goofy charm appeals? Granted, it's still only at #50.

Hattrem - I said I dislike humany mons earlier, but I actually tend to be fairly kind to some of the Gardevoir expys. This is a huge improvement over its pre-evo and is actually pretty cute! But when considering them head-to-head, I couldn't justify putting this above most of my #40s/50s.

Currently, I am the only person to have zero Top 20s drop. How long will that last?

Also the designs in that pic are 100x better than what we actually got. Velozolt in particular would almost certainly be top 5 for the gen for me.

^ I also don't overthink it. What Pokemon do I like more? This one. Often that's due to its design (including personality and concept), but sometimes it's random other things. Grovyle is one of my favs because of PMD2. Infernape is one of my favs because he was my starter in my childhood playthrough that I'm most nostalgic for. Etc.

I don't play competitive, so that almost never factors in. Nor do things like unique type combos. The stats don't matter to me and aren't why I love/hate a pokemon, so it's rarely an influence on me preferring one to another.

The fact my #94 hasn't dropped yet blows my mind. #93 also not having dropped yet I understand... there's a pretty big gap between my #94 and #93... but geez.

Sure, but when the question is "what pokemon do I like most?" and not "should this Pokemon exist?", then for me personally, I almost always strongly prefer animals and anthro-animal mons to humany or inanimate or nondescript-thing mons. That's just my preference/aesthetic.

And there's exceptions. My #94, which hasn't dropped yet, is an animal mon. Meanwhile some object mons like Honedge, Rotom's various forms, Cofagrigus, Chandelure I quite like!

Mr Rime - Too silly for me, too geometric, overdesigned, not very "Pokemon", not animal enough, unnecessary evo. Not my aesthetic in the slightest. Least fav.
Silicobra - Cute lil snake. Looks like it needs a hug. Undecided if I like or don't like the hood.
Eiscue - Too silly for me. Look stupid without the ice block. Looks extra stupid with the ice block.
Perrserker - Why do they keep giving the Meowth family horrible extra forms / evos?
Sinistea - I don't like inanimate object mons. This one is fairly inoffensive, at least.
Cufant - I slightly underrated it tbh, I should have put it around #35. It's pretty cute and I like elephants, but the head... tumor... really sucks.

I wish I could have rated it worse than #96.

Dottler - It's boring like cocoon mons tend to be, except worse in some ways because it doesn't even look like a Pokemon with all its weird unnatural geometric shapes. I don't loathe it, though.

Impidimp - Bright pink with a purple tongue doesn't work for me. Another which imo doesn't look like a Pokemon, and is just sorta ugly, though not to a huge extent. It's barely tolerable. I don't mind mischevious imp archtypes, but this one has all of the annoying with almost zero charisma. Its reveal was underwhelming too.

Arctovish - I hate this Pokemon conceptually and fundamentally. It's just animal cruelty. The only reason it's not dead last is because the Pokemon below this are either even stupider or extremely ugly.

Gossifleur - Cute tbh. I actually like it a bit more than its #55 placement would imply, but I just struggled to justify putting it any higher. It feels so... ineffectual?

Kubfu - I like bears, but I've never been big on Pokemon bears. Teddiursa and Cubchoo are both meh, and this is also meh. In fact, this is even meh-er than those ones. It just looks like a brat. Still, it's a little fighting bear, and that's neat, so it's ok. It's not ugly, it doesn't have a stupid concept, so it still manages to be #57 for me almost by default.

Greedent - I definitely get a "creepy cereal mascot" vibe from this Pokemon, but definitely not to the same extent as other people seem to. Slightly overhated, in my opinion. But it's not exactly something I love. The fact it actually looks like an animal puts above most things that have dropped so far for me. It's ok.

Thwackey - I kinda like it. Not ugly imo, has no weird unnecessary lines, doesn't look weirdly geometric, actually looks like an animal and has a decent attitude/personality. Pretty fine with me. Completely disagree with it going out this early.

Skwovet - I actually like this quite a bit less than Greedent and it's mostly down to its stupid face. Yes, it's less "creepy" than Greedent, but the bloated cheeks look way more ridiculous. It's A-Raticate all over again.

Regidragon - Completely unnecessary legendary and conceptually hard to grasp, but the design is... fine, I guess.

Stonjourner - Somehow both (way) too goofy and too boring for my taste. Really annoys me. Hate looking at it.

Drizzile - I like the attitude a lot and lizards are cool. I don't like the mitten hands, nor the weirdly round head with a very "painted on features" look. Still fine overall. I probably slightly overrated this in my ranking, but I still feel this is out too early.

Rolycoly - Strongly bores me - I want animals, not lumps of coal. Odd eye counts are a turn off.

Hatenna - Bangs over both eyes is up there as one of my least favorite character design tropes. Always looks bad to me.

Morgrem - Has grown on me. I probably slightly underrated it. I like the attitude and the edginess of the design and strikes the best balance of the family, I think. Impidimp is too "annoying" and Grimmsnarl is too "ugly", by comparison. Still pretty ugly, though.

Drizzile is my highest drop so far at #37 and I still feel fairly negative about it. Granted, it prob should have been 40-45. But still, this generation really sucks. (And yet, Gen 9 is somehow even worse!)

X vs. Zero

Pincurchin - Why is this Pokemon an almost direct copy of a Pokemon from the previous gen, but with spikes? Meh. It's ok, but not really my thing, and feels derivative.

Toxel - Hard for me to talk about this in full until Toxtricity drops. I don't like babies much... especially not ones with a weird forehead thing, diapers and a constant blep. But even though I don't like this, I find it hard to justify putting it any lower. It's fine. There's a bunch of other Pokemon this gen which annoy me more than this one.

Brief-ish comments since I didn't provide any:

Enamorus: All of the genies are among my least favourite pokemon. This takes an already ugly group and makes them even uglier. Therian form doesn't save it.

Blipbug: Boring, and its weird vertically-stretched head makes it look ridiculous/gross. Seriously, it's like they had an okay finished caterpiller archtype and then someone accidentally selected the head and dragged out the vertical scaling handle.

Calyrex: It's grown on me slighty - I hated it when I first saw it - but now I don't mind it too much. But the proportions are still completely wack, definitely. The huge berry head isn't great, the gangly limbs aren't great. Also its fusion gimmick is weird and out of place for Pokemon. But I like the face and I like that it canonically talks.

Arrokuda: Not terrible, just underwhelming and forgettable.

Indeedee: I think it's cute, pleasent, if unadventurous/unremarkable. No problem with it. I will never ever understand b8's irrational hatred for this and Audino, since they're just so inoffensive.

Chewtle: Don't like monobrows. Don't like buck teeth. Its head looks too big. Don't like Pokemon who "look dopey".

Carkol: I spent about ten minutes trying to figure out what I wanted to say but couldn't put my thoughts into words. I'll just say this: I hate this design. I usually hate the designs that look excessively goofy, or are joke/troll designs (for ref, A-Exeggutor is my least fav gen 7 poke, Mega Slowbro is my least fav mega), and there's just no way I can take anything about this design seriously. I don't know where to start.

Milcery: *shrug* It's just there. I honestly forget this exists most of the time. Eyes get lost in the body.

The fact my #96 is still up is uuuugh...

Following up from my first post, to actually answer the question:

Honchkrow/Murkrow, Staraptor, Decidueye, Sneasel/Weavile, Buizel/Floatzel, Archen/Archeops, Goodra, Inteleon, Zangoose, Chatot, Galarian Zapdos, Jolteon/Vaporeon are all top 20 contenders for me and none of them are even UU, let alone OU or Uber (except G-Zapdos, which is UU). Murkrow has a gimmicky niche in VGC and that's about it.

Garchomp, Dragapult and Lugia are basically the only top 20 contenders for me that aren't "bad".

This. Infact, there is a frustratingly consistent correlation between "pokemon I visually love = bad in battle" and "pokemon I visually hate = top tier OU". It's one of the main reasons I pay zero attention to competitive Pokemon. This isn't helped by the fact there's lots of great NFE designs which are largely automatically bad (even if my top top favs tend not to be NFEs)
