Basically a constitutional amendment was championed by Senator Birch Bayh (you may know him as the father of sentient lump of clay Senator Evan Bayh) after the 1968 election which would have scrapped the electoral college and made all future presidential elections operate under the rules of a two-round run off similar to France.

The amendment had the support of Nixon, 3/4ths of congress, and (supposedly) most states.

It died when it was filibustered in the senate by segregationists.

Just use a top two run-off like every other presidential system in the civilized world

Knowing how the streaming series industry tends to cater to the easily-bored mainstream movie-going audience, I too fear that the series will follow the atmosphere of the Bethesda-developed Fallout games (3, 4, 76), and the main plot will probably be about stopping the super mutants and/or Enclave, and of course the Brotherhood of Steel will be involved as a hero/vigilante faction.

Call me a miserable cynic if you want, but I would be genuinely stupefied if they wouldn't go that route.

Given that Todd Howard is involved and the games you listed are the ones that are the most popular or well-received you should probably manage your expectations

But like you said, it's pulling off a band aid. They can probably recover in time for 2028 (unlikely but possible) but if they stick with this Trump stuff they'll more than likely keep losing.

The issue is I don't think they quite grasp how much the left/moderates hate him. As long as Trump and people like him are on the ballot Democrats would drag their dicks through a mile of broken glass just to vote against them.
