Topicliquor stores are essential, but smoke shops aren't?

Most supermarkets don't sell smoking stuff, but you can get them at convenience stores and/or gas stations. A smoke shop is basically just a store devoted to nothing but smoking, usually for the specialty stuff since the places that do sell smoking stuff only have limited stock.

Anyways, from what I have seen the smoke shops here are open, at least their "open" signs are blinking. I never see anyone parked in front of them or shopping in them (and I don't smoke) so I wouldn't know.

Oddly enough, comic shops are considered essential as well, mine is still open although they haven't gotten any new comics from the distributors in almost a month.

What state(or Canadian province, or wherever) do you live, where comic book stores were allowed to stay open? In Illinois, they weren't considered an essential business(I know, since I read over the whole text of the IL governor's orders) and all such stores have had to temporarily close for now. Though recently I found a mom and pop newsstand that somehow is still open, and am surprised they are considered an essential business myself! I'm sure that store hasn't gotten any new magazines, comics, etc. for weeks or like a month now(whenever the closings all started to occur in March), though. The other day I went by there while doing a bike ride, and saw they had a sign saying 'limit 5 people inside the store at a time, and to limit your visit to no more than 5 minutes inside, to allow as many people an opportunity to visit as possible'.

Actually the masks, even cloth, do help. They won't stop you from contracting the virus, but it reduces how far the virus will spread from you breathing out, which means it's less likely you will infect others (especially if they stay 6 feet away or more).

Without masks they say it's at least 21 feet away that you can actually infect someone else. With the mask, it reduces how far the virus will reach from where you are breathing, and coughing etc will go mainly into the mask.

It's not perfect, but it would help, and it's crazy at this point not to wear one.

Still the real problem is that so many people are having to go to speciffc places, to get food, to vote, to get money from banks, to get perscriptions from pharmacies etc.

There is no way to avoid doing that, so many people are going to be in close proximity to others who have the virus (even if they don't know it), which is going to continue to spread it.

That needs to be dealt with soon. What happened with the voting today was insane.

Don't forget March 17, when primary voting occurred in Illinois. I was an election judge that day, and THANKFULLY I don't think I got any virus symptoms(the ones documented online related to coronavirus, which I looked up) as a result of being a judge that day. If I got any symptoms, I have no doubt I would've experienced them in the week or 2 after I was a judge.

Although I've heard rumors that some Illinois election officials want to do voting by mail, in case this virus stuff doesn't start to wane by November 2020. I am cautiously hopeful that maybe the amount of cases may really greatly fall by then, if what I'm hearing about much fewer new cases in China and other countries with outbreaks early on(i.e. Italy, Spain) is true. And of course, the news Wuhan and also Austria recently lifted at least some restrictions.

Temporarily laid off, due to all the virus closings. :( I'm kinda divided if I should apply to do Uber Eats deliveries, or some other sort of gig job like Instacart(for grocery stores)? Mind you I'm NOT considering actual Uber driving where I handled transporting passengers, thank goodness. I'd also want to know if such gig services were allowing you to drop off orders outside the entrances of residences, without having to wait to get a signature from that customer that you dropped it off.

Has anyone worked for(or may still do, I don't know) Uber Eats or a service like Instacart, and can tell me what their thoughts of doing such a job was like?

I wish Captain D's did have locations near where I lived, so I could try D's out. That said, yes I did like LJS when I had it in the past. It is really greasy food, so can't eat there too often that's for sure! Do love their chicken planks(if that's the name for it I remember correctly), a lot.

Okay, a few more points before I break out my big daddy-pistol.

Assault Weapons? Yes please. There are just some that are very easy to obtain, and most people won't have those. I think there should be a registration requirement for all weapon sellers. Also, I see people that think registration will hurt the legal gun industry. That's not the case.

CCW? That's a little more complicated. As I have said many times I believe CCW is needed, but it's not what makes people self-defense in the first place. CCW only works if a person can get a concealed carry permit in the first place. As a self-defense example, let's say I find my house burglarized and I'm in the process of arming myself and defending my family. What do I do if I happen to stumble across a gang going at it? There's a problem. The federal government has put police officers and most state governments in the position of punishing people who are armed and doing what they were authorized to do when they are on the government's property. This creates an uneven playing field because the rights of those who are getting punished are stronger than those who are protected. But first, I have to get my concealed carry permit. The key is the legislation that makes it possible for me to get one. Before getting my permit I must pass a criminal background check, complete a safety training course, and pay a fee. All this is just to get to the point where I can actually get a CCW. You need a CCW permit to carry a concealed weapon on your person, so the only people who can legally own one are those who are also in the country legally. In my case, that means I'll need to be temporarily detained by customs or immigration officials, as I am undocumented. No matter where I am, I will have to go through something like a US-customs-equipment-check or a US-immigration-check. If you don't do it, you risk being sent back to wherever you came from, which could take a while. But here is my rationale: I feel my life is getting more complicated. I live in the USA because I want to be here. I have a lot of family here, but I can't see them because they could be deported. I have a job that takes me to Pennsylvania. It takes a long time to drive there. It's far away, as well. I want to come back and reunite with my family. I don't want to stay in my home country. I will likely be asked to show a "Federal Gun License", which is supposed to be issued only to those who are actually US citizens or permanent residents. The background check includes questions about a person's criminal history and past associations with federal firearms. That's why I support relax of CCW laws.

2nd amendment? It goes too far in my eyes. At the end of the day, we live in a civil society. If you are going to have that freedom of speech, I don't care if you only say "shit" on TV one time, that's just fine. We live in a free country. That being said, I think the second amendment is a bad piece of legislation and I would vote against it. It doesn't make sense to me that everyone should have a right to have weapons like what happened at Sandy Hook. Not everyone is cut out for militia service, frankly. My old leather cap is full of scars from hunting and gun handling. The thought of training to kill others makes me shudder with revulsion. I guess it is better to err on the side of extreme caution when it comes to weapon usage. Whether that is moral or not, it is up to you, my friend. I respect that and even cherish it. That's what makes it wonderful. If you have questions about anything, post 'em below.

3rd amendment? The freedom of speech, right? Well, I don't know how I feel about this one.

I realize this is a big pain in the ass to read, but it helps for me to get some of my points across. I hope you enjoy.

Where you incorrectly wrote the 3rd amendment about freedom of speech, that's actually the 1st amendment referring to that FYI.

I've always long interpreted the 2nd amendment as giving the US the right to set up a militia(armed forces) to defend itself, and not so much the right to CCW. But of course as the ship long has sailed away from SCOTUS debating if this is right or not(they ruled in favor), I think there should be a very stringent amount of training required before you can get a CCW permit. Myself, I don't have a problem with CCW permit holding laws and support those myself, but I feel there are some cases where it should be allowed where it currently isn't(i.e. public transit in Illinois).

And on a side note, I suspect a lot of Democrats would get more votes, if they weren't so damn anti-gun. I swear in a lot of past elections, this has bit them in the ass in the end and cost them votes they'd otherwise get. Also being less nanny state(i.e. Michael Bloomberg, and why I'll never vote for him among a few reasons), would help them out as well.

I had a friend over but I can't sleep when there is someone else around (I just rent a room) so I was up all night even though he crashed on the floor. So around 4 am, I was hungry and ordered Mc D's delivered. I got him a couple sausage mc muffins as well (although he only ate one...I munched the other). Anyway I ordered the bare min ($10) but after taxes and all that it was about $15.

It was snowing here today and it's dark and cold (and raining now). I couldn't drive, but I could walk, but I think walking in 35 (probably colder now) degree rain isprobably not a good idea.

So I just ordered chineese food delivered but it's over $20, so much for budgeting how much I'm spending on food.

Tomorrow I HAVE to wake up early enough that it's still light out so I can go grocery shopping. I also desperatly need water. I'm gonna be forced to drink tap water tonight (and the tap water here is horrid). I was planning on going shopping the day before yesterday but my friend came over and then stayed the night, and then he was here till like noon or so, and I finally crashed, but I didn't wake up till 5pm and it was already dark (not tomention it had snowed a bunch earlier).

Getting old really sucks. WhatI actually need to start doing is ordering safeway delivery since it's cheap or free dpeending, and I can at least make food and get my water that way. In fact, I think I will go on the site right now and see if I can put in an order for tomorrow and then at least I will have water for sure, and probably food to eat as well.

Man, you really take driving for granted when you can do it easily. There are alot of disadvantages of having really bad eyesight (for instance my doctor doubled my linsinipril perscription to 40 mg, but didn't mention it now came in just 1 pill a day, so for the last 30 days or so, I was taking 2 of them (80mg, up from 20 before). Now I have almost none left and at least an explination why I have been extremely tired and sleeping alot for the last month lol. I need to call tomorrow about that actually, but yeah, I couldn't see the writing on the bottle to tell it had changed (I used a magnifying glass when I called to renew because it was out and they were like, nope, you can't get more till the end of Feb lol).

Blah, I really need to move somewhere next to/near a grocery store and a few places to eat. The only place near here is Jack in the box which I abhor AND is expensive and it's still a good half mile to it.

If Safeway's delievery service is likely without a delivery fee, then personally I'd opt to do that over Uber Eats myself. Funny you did write about Uber Eats, since once I did download that app to see which places(a mix of mom and pop places, plus a few fast food/casual chains) deliver via that app. Forget if any of the sit down chain restaurants use this app, but I did see some sit down mom and pop restaurants deliver via this app.

Honestly with how depressingly cold winter is, I'd ideally like to see such lights on till the end of January myself. Or even later, if by some weird chance they don't want to take such lights down before then. I know most don't do that though, myself. And like you can guess, voted till end of January in this poll.

It hasn't been as bad for along time, but yeah, I lived in projects as a kid until about 10 or so, and it was pretty lawless. It's basically why they stopped having them. It wasn't quite purge level, but it was pretty close if you were new to an area (and we moved every 3 months, so I was always new to an area).

I remember years ago with my church helping out(w/other church members) doing group work projects over at the now demolished Cabrini Green projects in Chicago, and yeah those buildings were creepy to be inside. Also always gave off a creepy vibe to be nearby, outside as well. Along with being poorly maintained, because of their age. Thank goodness the elevator didn't stop between floors and it did work when we were using it to go upstairs to a certain apartment to help those living in one out, since part of me worried that would happen.

Good to know it's now airing on HBO. I'll do a search on my cable for the next time it airs, and perhaps watch it very soon.

SNES is the one of my older 2 video game systems, I play the most. I have an ORIGINAL Game Boy(before GBC and GBA) white 'brick' one, that I last played on a few years ago. And as I remember got that system a little bit before, I got my SNES. Was just testing it that day a few years ago to make sure it still works, and it does still work! Also I briefly once had an NES I got at a yard sale in the mid to late 90s, but sadly that system eventually stopped working for me. :(
