It is not.

But on modern cars the check engine light is tied into the electronics and diagnostics, and can go off for any number of minor bulls*** issues. It can generally light for things as mild as "your O2 sensor is slightly out of sync" (which can affect your mileage but isn't really a danger to your car) all the way to something incredibly stupid and meaningless like "you're out of wiper fluid".

Thank you for the insight. I don't really have anyone to teach me about cars and so forth, so your feedback on the matter is very much appreciated.

None this morning, but there was no way of telling how much there is going to be in two days when it would have come time for me to retrieve my car.

On one hand, the check-engine light has been on in my car for about a month, now. I'm afraid that something bad is going to happen unless I have it inspected immediately. My next appointment to have the car repaired is in two weeks. I'm already nervous about something going wrong in the weeks preceding that new appointment. I know I shouldn't live a life ruled by fear. But I can't help it.

On the other hand, the snowstorm in Reno was intimated to be very bad. I had already felt the gusts blow and buffet me when I went to work yesterday. I was afraid that they were only going to get stronger. Moreover, there was supposed to be a bunch of snow. I wasn't sure if many would have come into the car dealership to work in this weather. I was afraid that going to retrieve my car was going to be dangerous afterwards. I was told that I could expect to have my car back in two business days, tops. I was afraid that the weather would make the trip to the dealership incredibly treacherous, even via taxicab.

Also, this may be something exclusive to me. But having my car ready in frightening times provides me with some comfort. I certainly did think of it as a sanctuary from my family, and how many other things that bugged me during my time living in Hawaii. It's weird, I know. I am inclined to think of it as a misanthropic thing; I generally hate letting anyone in my car. It was my only escape during those years in which I had no privacy or security.

Anyway, I know very well that it is too late to change my mind. I also know that as thirty-year-old adult, I should be capable of calling my own shots, especially now that I am living on my own, and in (unexpectedly painful) solitude like I had always dreamt of. Anyway, what do you think I should have done?

I must have these answers.

Is your implication that given the abundance of gun violence in the country, such a reaction should be expected?

I might honk aggressively at a driver who is about to crash into me after failing to stop at a certain octagonal red sign. I might sustain that honk for an unnecessary amount of time after having passed the driver. Oh, and I also honked once at a driver who was about to merge lanes from some intersection, when it was clearly my turn to go. I do tend to hover my hand above the horn when I spot such drivers nearby. On a bad day, I might honk anyway even though the driver hasn't done a thing wrong.

I'm going to take a wild assumption here, and say that your implication is that my backseat has been the unfortunate victim of a human male's ejaculation.

Thank you for the suggestion. It's one I'm genuinely considering at this point. I regret that I had not put extra protection on my car beforehand. That I have to live with the knowledge of the stain in my car, below covers, is one that will irrationally cause me much (possibly) OCD-induced stress.

I suppose I was just wishfully thinking otherwise. :(

I can't tell if it's dirty with all the baking soda, or with the contents of the original stain. Has anyone got any tips for removing it? I've been thinking of just putting vinegar on it, having it soak up all the baking soda, waiting for the baking soda to resurface, then rinsing and repeating (no pun intended) until the stain is completely gone. Would anyone have a more efficient method in mind? It was my first time trying to save some American dollars, and doing it myself; but I made a mountain out of a molehill of baking soda, and now I need to get this stain mountain off my backseat.

I strongly suspect that the baking powder leaked in through the cushions, and are resurfacing over again. I don't know how much baking powder is stuck there. :(

This may be an inappropriate analogy, but English-speaking folk do not typically refer to that Japanese archipelago country by its Japanese name. Similarly, the Japanese do not normally refer to their country by the name English-speaking folk have assigned to it.

Leap for joy.

That might happen this month. I am in the midst of finally completing the finale for a fiction-writing project. I anticipate to be done by month's end. Hopefully, the web-development class that I've figuratively hoisted onto my shoulders won't interfere with that work too much. Although, I confess that if I prioritize professional development courses more than I do the only thing that really gives me any joy these days, I must rethink what I aim to do with the next decade of my life. That said, I am not typically physically expressive of my emotions, negative or positive, so leaping as a result of a surge of happiness is a possibility that is far-off, I am afraid to say. I am aware, though, that it is only an expression, one born possibly of the fact that I unnecessarily mentioned leap days in my announcement, and the fact that another leap day is due in about twenty-seven Earth days.
