Around here, we got a Christmas Calendar on the telly each December, 24 episodes of a TV series.
One year, l think l was around 6, they decided to have one about Jesus. It was basically the Bible verses read to some bad drawings. It was "animated" by moving the camera.
Everybody watched it because there was nothing else to see.
Of course they had the infanticide, drawn in pictures. Scared the hell out of me, and be the reactions, many many children.

My favorite is the last one in the Book of Judge.
Basically a man hunts down his second wife that had run away from him. He stays at a town for the night, and the house he stays at gets surrounded by men that wants to rape him.
So he kicks out his second wife and locks the door.
The next day the rapists are no longer horny and he finds the dead body of his second wife.
He takes her home, cuts it up in 12 pieces and sends them to the leaders of the 12 tribes of Israel.
11 of them are horrified, while the one that owned the town where it happened was surprised that they turned it into such a big deal.
The 11 tribes declared war, and all of their cities promised to send soldiers and to never allow anybody from their tribes to marry anybody from the 12th tribe.
After a long war, everybody from the 12th tribe were dead, except for 200 men. Then the 11 other tribes regret what they had done. Those 200 men needed females so their tribe could grow, but every Israeli city had promised in the name of God to not give them any.
...all except one town. So they punished the town by killing everybody in it, except for the virgin daughters, who were given away to the 12th tribe. But they still lacked 50 females.
Lyckily a nearby city had a harvest festival, so they gave those 50 men permission to go kidnap any virgin female they wanted from the festival.

It definitely depends. There's an episode of the original Star Trek that heavily implies Starfleet doesn't allow women to captain ships. That's something that was not adhered to in later Star Trek shows for good reason.
